Hello EG&CC members,

What a summer we're having so far. With so many days of sunshine and extremely warm weather, I hope you all have made time to get out and enjoy it with some golf on our beautiful course or on a great vacation with your family.

Even though the sun has been shining and everyone has been playing, our manage-ment team has been working diligently on preparing us for the months ahead. Mike Conklin's crew successfully aerated the greens, tees and approaches for great play in the fall and winter months ahead. With that being said, Mike and his crew can plan out fall and winter projects to make this course even better in the future.

Also, with the Member-Member done and our last Junior Golf Clinic over, Brent Webber's staff stands ready to improve any facet of your golf game in which you want to improve in the months ahead.

Finally, in the Clubhouse, Maria has filled her management staff with some great people. Please take the time to meet Jason Youngsman, our new Food & Beverage Manager, plus Britney Edson, our new Catering Director.

Our Club is extremely financially sound and with the implementation of the Capital Improvement Fund (CIF) almost two years ago, we now will keep all of our physical assets extremely sound also. Through the last five months of this fiscal year we have successfully accomplished most of the items presented on the Capital Improvement Budget, plus a few others that have popped up along the way (Tartan Room upgrade to come in January 2016). This year's Capital Improvement Budget was based on items in the Fixed Asset Study (FAS) that we commissioned a couple of years ago. With the CIF, we are able to stay the course and repair and replace assets in a man-ner that is financially and operationally most efficient for the club.

Finally with college and pro football around the corner, please get out and enjoy all of the fall months here at the Club.

Wow! Summer has been a complete whirlwind of activity at the club. I hope that each of you have been able to enjoy some of the many special events, as well as dining, swimming and golf-ing at the club.

August was a particularly busy month with a lot of member golf tournaments and parties. In August our first annual Dive-in Movie Night was a great success as well as the Pool Olympics. We celebrated our Mens', Seniors', Super Seniors' and Couples Club champions' and Certifi-

cate member Maureen Botting celebrated her 8th hole in one. We hosted the Women’s Invitational, the Bob Borup Member-Member, two hole in one parties, a junior golf camp, two member weddings and more! Whew. In fact, I have had some feedback from you that perhaps there were too many activities booked within a short period. We will definitely take your feedback into account when we build the calendar for 2016.

We had terrific participation in our member events at the club this summer, most of which sold out. Because of the high demand for member events and the need to plan food and staffing appropriately, we are asking members to kindly make a reservation at least 48 hours in advance. We want to ensure that we can meet and exceed your expec-tations and your reservation will play a big part in preparing the staff to do so.

Please welcome new F&B Manager, Jason Youngsman to the Club! Jason began work on Wednesday, August 19th and we have been keeping a very busy training schedule. Jason was one of five finalists who went through second interviews with House Committee Chairman, Ken Ross and Finance Co-Chairman, Mark Campbell. Jason hails from Whidbey Island and grew up in a restaurant family. He has a tremendous amount of restaurant and nightclub experience as well as fine dining. He enjoys event promotion, team building and training. The staff have welcomed Jason and he has already been supporting them on the floor. I think you will find that he has a great sense of humor and will establish a comfortable rapport with the members. As it turns out, he already knows some of our members, including Ken Ross, Darrell Storkson and Ed Hansen through his bowling experience. Jason’s schedule is Wednes-day – Sunday which will give us great management presence during our weekend events. I am thrilled to have him on board as he has wonderful experience and a fresh perspective for the club.

New membership has been particularly strong with 23 certificate sales, 1 intra-family transfer, 4 executive, 8 inter-mediate, 25 social, and 18 new golfing spouses. Wow! That is 61 new member families and 41 new playing mem-bers. Unfortunately I have not yet met all of our new members but am looking forward to doing so at our upcom-ing New Member Orientation. New members please mark your calendars for October 8th for a chance to learn more about the club, socialize and meet other members along with our Board of Directors and management team members.

Intermediate members have a lot to look forward to as well as the board recently adopted a revision to the operation-al rules which created a vesting program for intermediate members. If you are currently an intermediate member or are considering sponsoring an intermediate (ages 21-39), please be sure to read about this program in this issue or contact Membership Services Director, Stacey Resch at 425-493-5419 to learn more.

I would like to close with a thank you to the members and staff for an incredible summer. As back to school time approaches and our snowbird members take flight - the pool closes and the golf course and dining areas slow, I am thankful for the incredible amount of support the members give to your “home away from home”. And I am very thankful for the staff who are here to serve you and your families – whether it be the pristine golf course, clubhouse and grounds, the great service in the pro shop and dining rooms, the efficient and friendly accounting staff, the amazing lifeguard team and our event planning staff. Everett Golf & Country Club is a very special place and I am proud to be a part of it.

The summer is coming to a close, but what a fantastic one it has been! The weather has been nothing short of stellar and the membership activity has been bustling. To date (since February) we have received 27 Certificate applications, 8 Intermediate applications, 26 Social applications and 3 Executive applications. In addition we welcomed 1 new Intra-Family transfer, 1 new Busi-ness Entity transfer and 18 new golfing spouses. WOW! I call that a success.

Even though we are entering our slow season the prospects, inquiries and requests for applica-tion packets are STILL coming in. This is when I truly love my job the most. I get to meet all of these wonderful new people who are so excited to become a part of this incredible club and their excitement is infectious.

I would like to thank all of our wonderful sponsors for being such terrific ambassadors of the club and for filling our membership roster with individuals and families that any club would be proud to boast of.

6 Green Construction

During September, golfers will begin to see activity near the sixth green as preparations are made for its reconstruction in early October. With the exception of a few days in early September, the regular green will remain open until construction begins in earnest on October 7th. We antici-pate the entire construction process will take six or seven weeks to complete. The new green will remain closed to play until the spring. During this time, golfers will play to a temporary green that has been established at the top of the fairway.

The first major task will be the removal of seven large trees near the green complex on September 2nd and 3rd. The removal of these trees is integral to the design of the project and is being completed in advance to ensure the construc-tion contractor can begin moving dirt as soon as possible. Ideally, the project would begin in late September; however several years ago the club agreed to host the PNGA Women’s Senior Amateur Championship on October 5-6. The greatest threat to a smooth construction process is heavy rain. Historically, the first half of October is generally dry and ideal for construction - after that anything can happen.

The upcoming project is very exciting for the crew. Similar to the seventh green rebuild two years ago, the project is large in scope and will require a great effort from all involved. In a greater sense, the excitement the project provides will not be fully realized until next spring, when the new green opens for play. Creating something new for the mem-bers to enjoy always provides greens keepers with a great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. We still fondly remember the many smiling faces when the membership began playing the new seventh green in April of 2014.

A Different Sand for our Bunkers

For the past twenty years, every speck of the tan bunker sand in the Pacific Northwest came from a single pit down near Maple Valley. Unfortunately, two years ago the owners decided to close the pit and forced 200 regional courses to begin looking for another source. Before shuttering the doors, one last enormous pile was produced and the price was increased substantially. Many courses, including ours, purchased as much as they could afford and had room to store.

Through time two sources of replacement tan sand were identified and began finding their way into bunkers around Puget Sound. These two sands come from just north of the border and, surprisingly, North Dakota. After traveling to a few courses this summer to hit bunker shots, I have recommended to the Green Committee we begin using the sand from British Columbia. The price is considerably lower, its color matches our existing sand fairly well and I have been assured it will be available for many, many years.

The sand appears to be a bit fluffier than our existing sand, but I did find it very suitable. I do not think golfers will notice much of a difference as the sand is added to our existing bunkers. As the two sands are blended together through daily raking, the texture and playing characteristics of our existing bunkers should not change dramatically. The one place golfers may notice a difference will be in the new bunkers built near the sixth green this fall. These bun-kers will be filled solely with the new sand.

Herding Cats

On a recent afternoon while out checking the course, I came across a sight that brought a big smile to my face. Brent was on the first hole leading a pack of seven and eight year olds for a round a foot golf. The kids were loosely scattered over one of our six holes with Brent and his daughter walking along nearby doing their best to keep everyone organized and on task. With great patience, Brent provided a constant supply of encouragement for every shot and reminders of whose turn it was next. (Brent had organized play in the always difficult alternate shot format.) With the kids each running randomly for a short distance, most times in a different direction, it appeared as though he and Emma were herding cats. I was impressed with how well Brent managed the junior golf campers - and that he made it back to the clubhouse with them all.

Football season is here, but don’t put the clubs away yet. We have quite a few events left on the calendar so check it out later in this newsletter and call the Pro Shop to sign up.

This is the month for praise and congratulations! First off to Mike Seek for winning his first Men’s Club Championship on August 16th during Champions Day. Mike defeated Scott Tapp 2&1 in the 36 hole match, both players got through a tough bracket of some of the Clubs best

players to earn their spot in the finals. Also that day Mike Hickok beat Duane Diede in the Senior Club Champion-ship on the 18th hole for his second Senior Club Championship at the Club. In other matches Mark Campbell beat Herb Knudson in the Super Senior Flight. Tom Herrick beat Craig Almon in the Men’s Club Championship handi-cap flight, Denny Brawford beat Russ Smith in the Senior handicap flight, and in the Couples Match Play Jan and Lorrie Larsen beat Steve and Jane Hudson. In a match previous to Champions Day Mike Broadwell beat Monte Kintner for the Presidents Trophy. Thank you to all that participated in the match play events, we had many new participants and winners as well! We also want to offer congrats to the recent Bob Borup Member Member winners Mike Hickok and Alex Stamey for the gross team in a playoff over Scott Tapp and Chris Pladsen and the net winners were DeMotte Case and Kevin Brady. We had 62 teams play this year for the August date, in years past we have had more in the traditional May date so we will be looking at placing it back to earlier in the season. The reasons were very valid for moving it, better weather (which we had rain!) and offer something later in the season for all those that don’t play in the Invitational and view this as the number1 event on their calendar. I am happy that we had so many new members playing this year, they got to experience the biggest member only event.

Just to keep all informed that starting October 1st we will be instituting a new dress code, please look for included in this newsletter. The thought behind it and the acceptance of it is to make sure we are presenting ourselves as a Club that is consistent with other private clubs. The golf activities and board both approved the changes and sup-port the changes and it will be up to the pro shop to enforce it. It does fall on the member who entertains guest for golf of the dress code and we will inform the member of any violations. This was a well thought out process and we feel places Everett in a consistent place with other Country Clubs throughout the area and country.

Member: Craig Almon

Family: I have been married to my lovely wife Lisa for nearly 22 years. Our son Cam-den is 18, our daughter Gracie is 16 and our Black Lab Mazie is 10. We have lived in Snohomish since 2002.

EGCC: We joined the club August 17th, 2004 as certificate members. I have served on the Membership committee and currently serve as a member of the House Com-mittee.

Profession: Founder and managing member of PRO Consulting, LLC a consulting group specialized in Auto Dealer Sales training and reinsurance consulting since 1998.

Statement to the members: Perpetuity…”The state or quality of lasting forever”. The founding members of the club put together the governing tenants and by-laws of the club and for the last 105 years with the care and efforts of the members, management and staff the club has survived when necessary and flourished when possible.

It is a certainty that the many and diverse talents of the membership, management and staff are the cornerstone to our enjoyment and perpetuity of our club.

During the 11 years that we have been members it was my honor to serve on the membership committee during the early days of the recession. It was during my tenure on that committee I was able to offer some of my professional expertise toward help-ing the membership committee team draft proposals to the board, many of which were adopted and served as catalyst to successfully energize membership applications and bring new members into the club during that difficult time.

Last year it was my honor to be accepted as a part of the House Committee and to cur-rently be part of that diverse and talented group of problem solving/get it done mem-bers.

Last month when my name was put forth by the nominating committee I was both humbled and honored to be considered by the membership to be a part of the leader-ship team for the club.

The club is truly a sanctuary of relaxation and camaraderie to our family and it is my great honor to participate in helping the club to be the best it can be for the continued enjoyment of the members, management and staff.

Member: Jane HudsonAs a youth growing up in Everett, I enjoyed golfing and swimming at EG&CC with my family. After years of teaching, I rejoined EG&CC, first as a social member, then as a certificate holder. As an active member, I have served on both the House and Golf Activities Committees, and participated in the fitness room improvements as well as Gallery updates. Multiple Women's Division responsibilities, including Secretary of the Board, have been part of my involvement as a passionate and dedicated member.

In the community, I am an active volunteer in the Kidney Auxiliary (KAPS) and the Puget Sound Kidney Center.

I am committed to the continuation of our club's future growth and improvement.

I was surprised and, frankly, humbled to be asked to consider serving on the Board of Directors of EG&CC. I am very proud to be a member of our club, and it would be an honor to represent the interests of our members.

I have been involved in club governance for the past 4 years as a member of the Green Committee, overseeing several of the recent course improvement projects we've un-dertaken. I've been impressed with the collaborative spirit of members, both men and women, older and newer members, who give their time and energies to make our club a better experience for member families. I've learned a lot.

I think our challenge will be to find balance between our long-standing traditions and values and the need to improve and adapt our operations and business practices to the demands of the times. We need to plan for the future. It will require a variety of tal-ents and backgrounds, many already present among our current leadership. If elected to serve, I will bring an open mind and contribute my best efforts.

As the President and CEO of Coastal Community Bank, I have the privilege of work-ing with some of the finest bankers and business owners throughout Snohomish and Island Counties. We are continually working to build a stronger community bank with unparalleled service while ensuring long term value for everyone involved. I see this as very similar to serving on the board of directors at EGCC.

During these most recent two years I have served on EG&CC Finance Committee. I have become aware of the challenges that we as members face each year and I think I can provide a financial insight for today’s market and what may lie ahead in the future. I have learned tremendous amounts about the inner workings of the club and it re-minds me of so many of my customers that own operating businesses.

Member: Scott TappI have been a member at EG&CC for 15 years, initially coming in as an intermediate member and converting to a certificate member in 2006. Over these years I have met many fantastic people and made many wonderful friendships. Personally, I grew up in Edmonds, and Kelly and I have lived in South Everett for nearly 20 years. I graduated from the University of Washington in 1991 and have worked in accounting and finance positions over the years. Most notably, I worked for Washington Mutual (which later became JP Morgan Chase) and worked my way through their finance department eventually being promoted to Vice President of Business Management for the Technology Infrastructure Department. At EG&CC I have participated in most of the golf tournaments and many of the social events. I am currently on the following Committees: Green Committee since 2010, Membership Committee since 2014, IT Committee since 2013 (I am the current chairman), and have been the Men's Club Handicap Chairman since 2010. During my time on these committees we have introduced our Club Soft software, upgraded our back office operating systems, updated the clubs intercom and speaker system, and I have authored two proposals that have been adopted into our by-laws (the domestic partner provision and the intermediate vesting schedule).

For those of you that don't know me, perhaps more than any other member, EG&CC is truly my home away from home and I would like to work to ensure that future gen-erations have the opportunity to be part of such a wonderful place. I look forward to the opportunity to serve on our board and appreciate your support.Member: Paul Thompson

We joined the club in 1999 and my wife and I have been involved in the club ever since. She has been the treasurer of the Women’s Division for the past three years and will be Captain in 2017. I have been active in virtually all elements of the club’s oper-ation and have served on the Finance, House, Greens, By-laws and Social Committees. I chaired the Comprehensive Master Plan Committee which included the construction of the new pool, cart barn, covered range and the enlarged parking lot. We brought that project in on time and under budget. Also I built the on-course restrooms, re-stored and expanded the basement offices after extensive water damage and renovated the East Patio at considerable savings to the club.

I was self employed for over forty years. During that time I ran my own real estate and construction company and was responsible for all of the company operations includ-ing budgeting, scheduling and cost control. I previously served as a Board member from 2005 to 2008 and was Vice President in 2007-2008.

I understand how the Board operates and know that all of the Board’s actions and decisions must be based on doing what is best for the overall interests of the Club and the membership. My record shows that I have the experience, skills and judgment to help the Board do what is best for the club. I would appreciate your vote.

Everett Golf & Country ClubSummary of Operations

For the Month ended July 31

July 2015 results improved over the prior year, moving from a Loss Before Depreciation of ($15,649) to $2,847 Income, an $18,496 turnaround. Dues revenue was up $3,866 reflecting the dues percentage increase from the prior year and continued strong membership numbers. Green fees and lesson revenues were greater in the current year as a result of continued good summer weather and increased play. Food & Beverage sales were steady between years and gross profit increased by $4,559 due to lower cost of sales. F & B labor costs were down due to a vacancy in a management position and reduced employee benefit costs related to employee turnover. Prior year expenses in the G&A department were $6,427 higher, the result of incurring accounting fees related to tax return filings. Additional expense variances included a negative expense adjustment of $9,936 in July 2014 to reduce the reserve for uncollectible accounts. Year to date, Net Loss After Depreciation is tracking $20,377 better than July 2014.

Dress Code for EGCC Golf CourseEffective October 1st 2015

Members and their guests are required to respect the Club’s dress code requirements and maintain a level of dress commensurate with a private golf club. Proper golf course attire shall be considered the minimum stan-dard of dress, except where noted, while on the golf course and driving range. Members are responsible for ensuring that their guests are in full compliance with the Clubs dress code requirements. To assist with the interpretation of the dress code, members and guests are required to observe the following minimum require-ments or contact the Club Management or Professional Golf Staff for guidance.

At the August, 2015 meeting of the Board of Directors, a motion was made and approved to amend the opera-tional rules to include a vesting program for our new and current Intermediate members. This is an exciting new opportunity for this group. If you are considering inviting a prospective Intermediate to join the club, be sure to pass on this great news.

INTERMEDIATE MEMBERSHIPInvitees between the ages of 21 through 39 inclusive may be accepted into this classification and receive playing and Clubhouse privileges (except voting) and convert to Certificate Membership in the following manner:

1. A deposit as set by the Board shall be paid at the time a golfing Membership Admission Form is submitted. If the invitee is more than 35 years old, he/she shall also pay the total of the additional deposits set forth in section 4.

2. Effective September 1, 2015, Intermediate members benefit from a vesting program and will receive a maxi-mum credit of 50% of the initiation fee at the time they joined as an intermediate to be applied provided:

The credit is only applicable to their concurrent membership immediately preceding their conversion to a Cer-tificate membership. Shall an Intermediate member resign for any reason they will forfeit any vested credits. The Intermediate’s account must remain current to be eligible for the initiation fee credit(s).Credit(s) will not be applied to any required deposits. Vesting will occur on their membership anniversary day based on the follow-ing schedule:Less than one year = 0%One year = 10%Two years = 10% (total of 20%)Three years = 10% (total of 30%)Four years = 10% (total of 40%)Five or more years = 10% (total of 50%)

3. Spousal dues are waived until the Intermediate member reaches the age of 33. After the Intermediate reaches the age of 33 and until he/she converts to certificate, spousal dues are 50% of the regular spousal dues rate. 4. An Intermediate Member who desires to retain such membership after age 35 and acquire an Ownership Certificate at age 40, shall notify the Club Office in writing of such election no later than six (6) months prior to his/her 35th birthday. On or before such 35th birthday, he/she shall pay an additional deposit as set by the Board and a like deposit each year thereafter, on or before each birthday, through and including his/her 39th birthday. An Intermediate Member who fails to give such written notice shall be deemed to have resigned such member-ship effective on his/her 35th birthday.

CODE OF CONDUCTEffective Immediately

The following Code of Conduct has been adopted by the Board of Directors. The Code of Conduct is intended to ensure that all members have a pleasant atmosphere in which to enjoy the club’s facilities and services. Com-pliance with the Code of Conduct by family and guests is the responsibility of the member. Club management has been empowered to politely deny service or access to club facilities to any member or guest not in compli-ance with this policy. Members should inform their guests of our Code of Conduct prior to their arrival. Failure to comply with this policy may result in disciplinary action.

• Treat one another, staff, guests, and the facility with courtesy and respect at all times.• Excessively loud, boisterous, or abusive language which negatively impacts another member’s experience is

prohibited. • Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian while on Everett Golf & CC

property. Immediate supervision is required in all areas of the golf course, the practice facilities, and the clubhouse.

• Adhere to the dress code and observe proper golf etiquette. (Example: If your group falls more than one hole behind the group in front, you need to let faster groups play through. You must keep up with the group in front of you!)

• If taking a cell phone call within the club’s dining rooms or lounges please excuse yourself to the vestibule hallway or patio area so as not to bother other members or guests. If it is necessary to take or make a call on the golf course, the member or guest should be considerate of others, move away from the group, speak in soft tones and do not slow down play.

• Smoking, including vapor cigarettes, is prohibited anywhere in the clubhouse or pool area. If a member or guest chooses to smoke outdoors, they must maintain a minimum of 25 feet from entrances, exits, windows and ventilation intakes. Between 11:00 am and 8:00 pm, smoking is prohibited on the east patio except for the smoking designated area at the south fire-pit provided there are no tables occupied by diners within 25 feet of the smoking designated area, or everyone within 25 feet of the smoking designated area consents to smoking. Possession and use of marijuana is prohibited on Everett Golf & Country Club property.

• Any conduct of a member which is injurious to the character, interest or good order of Everett Golf & CC, is open to disciplinary action as provided in the EG&CC bylaws.

• Members shall not disparage the club, its members or staff, including via Social Media.• Follow all rules as prescribed by the Board of Directors.

If you are involved in or observe any breaches of the above, please follow these procedures:• Always discuss the issue with the offending member, i.e., try to resolve it amongst yourselves.• If warranted, fill out an Incident Report Form.• Club Management will contact you and the other involved Member(s) / Guest(s) to review the situation.• Management will ask the appropriate Committee Chairs for input and feedback with regard to the disci-

plinary action.• Management will make a recommendation to the Board of Directors for any offenses that require formal

disciplinary action, up to and including suspension of privileges, involvement of appropriate legal authority and/or expulsion from the Club as detailed in the By-Laws.

It has been a truly spectacular season. On a personal note, my golf game is less than desirable, but I'm game to try and fix it and I've signed up for some lessons. Take me out of the equation and there are so many of you that have really been playing some stellar golf, I commend you, you know who you are. I have a lot of results and congratulations to report this month, plus per the usual I will provide a brief update as to what's in store for this month and October.

Before I get into everything golf, I'd like to recognize one of our own, Lil Cronkhite for receiv-ing the esteemed honor of the 2015 Mukilteo Pioneer of the Year. Lil was born and raised in Mukilteo in 1925. The house her father built and that she grew up in is still standing. There is an article posted in the women's locker room that tells you all about it, next time you see Lil give her a big Congratulations!

And now, everything golf……….We had a Hole in One Party for Gigi Jacobsen on July 28th. It was great fun recognizing Gigi yet again for another Hole in One. Here are the results from the Roll the Dice Scramble:

The Women's Celebrate Asia Invitational was a big success and a lot of fun for all who participated. Before I dive into the results I'd like to personally thank all the EGCC staff to include our bag boys and pro shop for their hard work and support of the women's division in this yearly event. We could not have done it without you. Also a big thank you to the committee for decorating, organizing, fund raising, entertainment, food selection, etc… It takes a village and we had a village with an exceptionally good leader, thank you Maureen Botting and the village. Special thanks to Shin Lee who brought in a lot of her personal items for decoration. In addition to the beauty of the items, I per-sonally gained some knowledge of the importance and tradition of Korean rituals that are held to celebrate life events. I snapped a picture of a lot of the items Shin brought. Beautiful, thank you Shin!

Lastly, we had some of our members who participated in the Camaloch 40th Invitational and Jan Dewar shared these results with me: Cindy Carlin and Denise Benzel came in 1st place in the first division with low gross and Joanie Thompson and Jan Dewar placed 2nd in the second division with a low net score. Congratulations ladies, way to make EGCC a presence and proud!

What is happening in September and October?

September Monthly Medal falls on the 1st along with Scholarship Day and the first round of Club Championships stroke play. Club Championships round one on the 1st, round 2 on the 4th and round 3 on the 8th, followed by a General Meeting where we will vote on and announce next years' officers. Cheryl Vincent will be collecting donations for Scholarship day so bring your checkbook. You can write her a check anytime between now and then if you'd like to contribute to this worthy program. And at the end of the month on the 29th we have DOE DAY - Space the Final Frontier. This is THE EVENT OF THE SEASON!! Look for sign-up sheets for all events in the ladies locker room.

October 5th and 6th EGCC hosts the PNGA Senior Women's Amateur Tournament. For details regarding partici-pation and sign up contact Linda Geddes.

Twilight League Update – September 2015

This has been a great season for the Twilight League. I recently coached the ladies on chipping and the attendees stated that they had immediate

improvement. We have new faces joining us almost every week, and it’s like a big social event with din-

ing and cocktails after golf. On September 17th, I plan to golf and coach each group.

Lastly, we have a season end tournament for the players scheduled for September 24th; a fun scramble that includes the Leagues spouses so if

you haven’t joined us yet, please do soon!

We start to wind down the season and have a light month of activities in October with just Monthly Medal falling on the 13th due to the PNGA Sr. Womens's Amateur Tournament EGCC is hosting.

That's all I have for this issue, oh wait…I wanted to share a quick tip I found on Spryliving.comYet another great idea on other uses of our golf equipment. This one utilizes the golf ball. It is a stress reducing tip: Place a golf ball on the ground, place your bare foot on top, rolling it along the ball of your foot between your big and second toe. It stimulates the vagus nerve, which can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Ha! Who knew….

Howdy all! Where did our summer go? Way too fast! This month I’m giving away my secret chicken recipe! Enjoy!

Fried Chicken Seasoning Mix:

NOTES : This is Eula Gordon's original recipe mixture given to Harlan Sanders.

4 Cups Flour 1 Teaspoon Salt 1 Teaspoon Thyme1 Teaspoon Basil

1 Teaspoon Oregano 2 Teaspoon Ground Ginger4 Teaspoons Granulated Garlic 2 Tablespoons Celery Salt

2 Tablespoons Black Pepper 2 Tablespoons Dry Mustard 1/2 Cup Paprika

I do not use this, but for information - (6 Tablespoons Msg was in the original recipe). The same seasoning effect can be achieved if you put the chicken overnight in a brine solution of: ½ Cup salt and ½ Cup sugar to ½ gallon of water. That is it.

To Cook:• Cut chicken up and place into a large mixing bowl. Brine overnight. When ready to cook, drain brine solution from

chicken. Fill bowl with buttermilk and let chicken sit in it for about 15 minutes. Heat oil in frying pan (a cast iron frying pan is best) on medium high heat. I use canola oil in the frying pan so it fills frying pan up to 1/3 the way.

• Leave chicken in buttermilk and pull out as needed for coating. • Mix all dry ingredients (not chicken or buttermilk) in a large mixing bowl, and mix well with your hands. • When oil is hot, take chicken out of buttermilk and let most of it drip off chicken before placing dry coating mix.

Place a few pieces at a time in mix and make sure all surfaces of chicken are coated. • Slide chicken into frying pan and coat more pieces until frying pan is full. • Cook chicken on both sides until golden brown. Don't cook to fast or chicken will be too done on the outside. Place

browned chicken on a pan and finish cooking in an oven at 375 degrees until an internal temperature of 165 degrees.

This recipe will coat a lot of chicken. You can cut the recipe in half to coat 8-12 pieces. This is just the way I cook it, but you can cook it the way you always do and it will come out just fine. Bon appétit!

Jason Youngsman is the new Front of House Food and Beverage Manager. He has 15 years of management starting in 2000 and a total of 20 years of experience in the hospitality indus-try. He has been around the restaurant business his entire life. His father owned multiple restaurants over the years, all of which Jason has helped with in some way. He most recently worked for the Swinomish Casino and Lodge as a Restaurant Manager for their upscale steakhouse and seafood restaurant 13moons. When he isn’t busy working , He spends his time with his wife and two boys. He also is an avid bowler and coaches the Oak Harbor

Youth Bowling Travel League, who are 4 time State Champions.

Jason enjoys the busy lifestyle of the hospitality business and is very excited to work alongside the great staff and members of the Everett Golf and Country Club. When it comes to service, Jason aims to make guest satisfaction his number one priority; second is the happiness of his staff.

Hello Everyone,

The Social Committee is planning events for 2016, and one of our goals is to create new happenings that focus on family fun. So far we have planned a Super Hero’s Party for the kids in the spring – a super hero themed party where the kids can dress up as their favorite super hero. If it’s as successful as the Royalty Tea Party we presented in April, all the attendees – including the adults will have a great time. In January we are planning a putting contest for families. Some other new ideas we are considering are Ladies Night Out (shopping and wine tasting), a fused glass class and a cookie baking class with member Jenny Keller, caterer to the stars. If anyone has other recommen-dations for us, please reach out to Britney Edson, our Catering Coordinator at [email protected] or call her at 425.493.5429.

The 3rd Blues, Burgers and Brews party is scheduled for September 13th. These events have been fun- attendees have expressed how great a value the events have been, and how good the music is. Call the office at 425.259.8141 if you can join us.

August has been such a great month to start my path as your Catering Coordinator. The Women’s Invitational was so much fun! The ladies did an amazing job putting together all the little details to make the Taste of Asia theme come together. I want to give a huge thank you to the entire staff here at the club for doing such an amazing job, I know a lot of hours go into these golf events and it really does show.

Right now I’m getting ready for a very busy September. Be sure to sign up for Glow Ball, Whiskey & Cigar Night and the last Patio Party of the season! When you see me at these

events be sure to introduce yourself to me, I want to get to know as many members as I can!

Club History

September 29, 1977The monthly meeting of the Directors for the Everett Golf & Country Club was convened at 6:00pm. The following Directors were present: Jim Adkinson, Jim Cassidy, Verne Elliott, Jack Henry, John Herber, George Newland, Sam Newman, Bill Wood. Also: Ben Hanich, Bob Hollister, Ray McElhoe, Ken Tucker.

The minutes for the previous meeting were approved.

The Ladies Division request for budget funds for calendar year 1978 was tabled for further study.

The Board approved a dues payment for the current year to the Washington State Federation of Clubs of $250.

John Herber reported for the House Committee. He reviewed the plans for the cocktail lounge and ladies powder room renovation. Total cost of the project would be approximately $18,500.

Jim Adkinson reported for the Greens Committee. He reviewed the capital expenditure requirements for the next fiscal year.

George Newland reported for the Social Committee and Jim Cassidy reported for the Men's Activities Committee.

The following applications for membership were approved: Douglas T. Holmes, Playing / Mario McCarley, Corporate Playing Transfer

Vern Elliott as chairman of the Gambling Committee presented the attached rules governing gambling which were approved.

Bill Wood reviewed the financial statement for August and the budget for the ensuing fiscal year. The Board re-viewed the insurance coverages. A clubhouse appraisal at an approximate cost of $750 was approved. John Herber and Ben Hanich were authoriazed to pursue competitive bids for the insurance coverages.
