R. C. Orth, author of "Gas Chromatography for Combustion Gas Analysis," was born in Mineola, N. Y. He received the B. S. degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton and the M. S., also in mechanical engineering, from Columbia University. He joined APL in 1965, and has been a member of the Hypersonic Propulsion Group since completion of the Associate Staff Training Program in 1966. Promoted to the rank of Engineer in 1968, Mr. Orth is a specialist in

thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, supersonic combustion ramjets, and high-temperature test facilities. His principal recent assignment is to perform supersonic combustion research. In addition he has been Problem Sponsor for fire-control system tests, and has worked in the Post-TRANSPO test program and the powerplant site evaluation program. Mr. Orth is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
