Offensive Player of the Year
SARA HOHNTHOMAS JOHNSON SENIOR FORWARDn Kicked her goal scoring into high gear in the playoffs,
tallying nine of her county-best 19 goals in the postseason. She scored four goals in a second-round win ove r North Hagerstown and three in the Class 3A West championship game against Manchester Valley.
n Finished as the leading scorer in Frederick County for the season with 19 goals and eight assists (46 points).
n Her scoring prowess helped TJ finish 9-5-2 and advance to its first state final since 2001. She assisted on the Patriots’ only goal in a 4-1 loss to Northern Calvert in the Class 3A championship game at Loyola.
Defensive Player of the Year
CHIDERA OGWULUWALKERSVILLE SENIOR CENTER BACKn Her combination of strength, speed and athleticism made
her a force in the middle of arguably the county’s toughest defense. The Lions only allowed 11 goals in 20 games.
n The defense that she led carried the Lions to their first regional championship and their first appearance in a state championship game.
n Also contributed on the offensive end of the field, finishing with six goals and five assists to give the Lions a real boost.
