Haleh tafteh and saam naghshineh were introduced by mutual friends over dinner in vancouver. saam was living in arizona at the time and was in the city visiting family and friends. sparks
flew and they began a long distance relationship for the next two and a half years. The couple were engaged in the spring of 2014 while enjoying a roman-tic holiday in Newport Beach, California. Saam proposed during sunset at the resort at pelican hill, underneath the property’s famed Italian rotunda perched 300-ft above the Pacific Ocean. Family and friends joined them in Orange County immediately after to celebrate.
The couple’s traditional Persian wedding took place on August 1, 2015 at the fairmont hotel vancouver. Soha Lavin of countdown events planning & design was commissioned to provide event design and full-service planning for the celebration. Haleh, a makeup artist who has been frequently featured in WedLuxe, knew Soha Lavin and her team were the right choice. “I was impressed with Soha’s sophistication and how caring she was with brides,” says Haleh. “Having her as my wedding planner was a dream come true.”
Mona Lotfizadeh of invite avenue designed the wedding stationery.
Tina and Hassan Aghamohseni of tala florist produced the jaw-dropping floral designs for the event, including the bride’s all-white bouquet made with stephanotis and gardenias. The bouquet was wrapped in white ribbon and decorated with a cameo brooch for an Italian, vintage feel.

and a 3.5-kt diamond pear-shaped

Haleh’s 2.7-kt diamond
engagement ring was also
purchased from Saks Fifth Avenue.
Her jewelled, pointed-toe Manolo

The traditional Persian wedding ceremony took place in the hotel’s Vancouver Island Room with decor by Neda Emami of éclat decor inc. A white, carpeted aisle was lined with crystal candelabras that were placed on lucite boxes and adorned with white blooms including hundreds of rare and luxurious Cattleya orchids. The front of the room was draped in white fabric and two custom gilded wall panels framed the couple’s sofreh. The sofreh, a lavish spread of symbolic items that are presented at Persian wedding ceremonies, was designed by the bride and reflected her love of angels.
“I’ve always believed that angels bring happiness and luck to our lives, so we incorporated angel-inspired items on our sofreh and across the wedding decor,” says Haleh who spent four months designing the elaborate display and has since started a sofreh design and wedding accessories company called detailshaleh. The base of the sofreh featured hand-sewn lace while the centre was covered with cascading orchids and dripping greenery.

le gateau bake shop designed the couple’s white and gold cake that
incorporated the angel motif. The delicious vanilla bean-flavoured cake,

ENDNOTESThe couple commissioned a number of musical entertainers and performing artists for the wedding, including DJ Ali Fard who had everyone on the dance floor. One of the most emotional moments of the evening came when guitarist Paya Asadi played as members of chichaklar dance group took turns in the spotlight. “The combination of guitar and dancers had us in tears,” remembers the couple.
Haleh and Saam will be following their unforgettable celebration with a honeymoon cruise along the Mediterranean coast.
