1. Read!the!Fable!Non8Readers:!(Read!to!Your!Child)! Early!Readers:!(Read!Together)! ! Fluent!Readers:!(Alternate!or!Child!Read!to!You)!

Note:!!In!the!“You!Read!to!Me…”!you!have!the!option!to!read!together!with!the!colored!paragraphs.!

I!usually!read!the!stories!from!“Aesop’s!Fables”!because!the!language!is!a!bit!harder.!

!

2. Discuss!the!Moral!or!Lesson!Have!a!discussion!(basic!or!in8depth!depending!on!grade!level)!about!what!the!moral/lesson!means.!Have!the!child(ren)!explain!why!the!lesson!shows!

honesty!and!how!could!it!help/hurt!others.!(There!is!moral!&!meaning!matching!activity!including!in!this!unit!to!play!with!your!child!or!within!a!group.)!

3. Narration!The! child! retells! the! story! in! his/her! own! words.! You!may! prompt! with! questions! as! needed.! If! the! child! can! write,! have! him/her! write! their! own!

narration.!If!not,!the!parent/teacher!will!write!for!the!child!as!he/she!narrates.!Afterward,!have!the!child!read!the!narration!aloud.!(Read!the!narration!to!

your!child!if!they!are!not!yet!reading.)!!

4. Illustrate!!Draw!and!a!picture!of!what!the!fable!was!about.!Have!the!child(ren)! include!the!title!of! the!fable!and!the!moral!somewhere!on!his/her! illustration.! I!

found!some!coloring!sheets!from!That!Resource!Site!(Aesop!Color!Sheets)!that!you!can!use!with!this!unit.!!

5. Copy!Work!!Have! the! child(ren)! copy!his/her! Scriptures! for! copy!work.! There! is! also! a! fun! cut! and!paste! Scripture!worksheet! that! I! created! for! all! students,! but!

especially!for!children!who!are!not!yet!reading/writing!fluently.!!

6. Record!!Record!the!name!of!the!fable,!the!moral,!and!the!date!after!reading.!
