Christopher Columbus arrive in Trujillo on his last voyage to the Americas. It was constantly attacked by pirates. The Spanish Castle of Saint Fernando and the white sand beaches are the main attractions in Trujillo.

02|LA CEIBA

La Ceiba is consider the capital of tourism in Honduras. In this city you can find activities like white river rafting, hiking in the Pico Bonito National Park, or simply relax at the beach. From La Ceiba you can also take a 45 minute boat ride to Cayos Cochinos, which is considered to have one of the clearest waters in the world. At the end of May there is an International Carnival where different cities, countries and the local ethic group, The Garifunas, participate.

03|ROATAN

Taking a two hour ferry from La Ceiba you can visit the Island of Roatan. This Island is a port of call for many cruises. The clear waters, white sand beaches and coral reefs are what makes this city unique. There are also Hotels and Resorts that offer activities for the tourist including dolphin encounter.

04|TELA

Tela is a small city that used to be the home for American Fruit Companies. Wooden houses and buildings are traditional of the area. The beaches are visited constantly by the local and national tourist as well as international tourist. Skydiving is a popular activity in this town.

05|SAN PEDRO SULASan Pedro Sula is the industrial city of Honduras. National and international companies have their factories here. The main international airport is located in San Pedro Sula as well as the museum of Honduran history.

06|OMOA

In 1752, Omoa was founded as a Spanish colonial town. The bay of Omoa was used by the Spaniards to export gold and silver. Due to pirate attacks the fort of San Fernando was built to guard the bay.

07|COPAN

Copan is an archaeological site in Honduras. This place once served as the city for the Mayan Civilization. The archaeology park is visited constantly thought the year. In Copan, we can also find the Chortis, an ethnic group said to be direct descendants of the Mayans. 07|COPAN

Copan is an archaeological site located near the border with Guatemala. The Mayan civilization lived here from the early Pre-classical period to the Post-classical. Today Copan is inhabited by the Chortis ethnic group believed to be descendants of the Mayans.

08|SANTA BARBARA Vendors sit on the side of the roads of the City of Ilama in Santa Barbara . They sell baskets, hammocks, hats and accessories made from a straw-type material called “Junco”.

09|COMAYAGUA

Comayagua is a city founded by the Spanish conquistadors. It once served as the capital of Honduras. This city is rich in Spanish architecture and catholicism. The oldest clock in America it is found in the Cathedral located in the central park.

10|CUEVAS DE TAULABE

Cuevas or Caves of Taulabe are located around 60 miles north from the city of Comayagua. It is a hot spot for national and international tourist.

11|LA ESPERANZA

La Esperanza was a colonial city like many in Honduras. Here we can find the ethnic group Lencas. They are also said to be descendants of the Mayans. This ethnic group is rich in culture. Every Sunday they come down the mountain to sell their fresh produce in their colorful traditional outfits.

12|PULHAPANZAK

Pulhapanzak is the most famous waterfall in Honduras. It is located near the Yojoa Lake, which is not too far from San Pedro Sula. Its water drops 130 feet. Zip-lining is available from one side of the waterfall to the other.
