Job DescriptionJob title Senior ManagerTeam Lending SolutionsBand 5Reporting to Director, Help to GrowPurpose of the jobTo be part of the British Business Bank’s (“BBB’s”) Lending Solutions Team, which is responsible for the development and delivery of finance programmes, aimed at improving the ability of SMEs to access debt finance. The successful applicant will work primarily on the delivery of the Help to Grow (H2G) programme, though may be required to work on other Lending Solutions programmes, as workload dictates.

The H2G programme was launched by the Prime Minister in February 2015. Its purpose is to support new lending to established SMEs requiring debt finance specifically seeking to grow. BBB will provide guarantees and/or capital to Lenders (Banks and Debt Funds) selected to work with BBB on delivery of H2G.

This role can be based in either Sheffield or London.Main dutiesTo support the Director, Lending Solutions in the development and delivery of H2G. This will be achieved by:

• Developing relationships with Lenders in the SME finance market, to potentially partner with BBB in the delivery of H2G.

• Assessing bids from Lenders seeking to partner with BBB on delivery of H2G. Excellent financial modelling skills and thorough due diligence skills are required, to enable robust analysis and challenge of Lender’s proposals.

• Preparing concise and accurate Investment Committee reports on potential H2G transactions.• Designing and delivering improvements to existing H2G schemes, to maximise their appeal and utilisation within

the SME finance market.• Working closely with internal and external parties, to ensure high operational delivery standards and timely

completion of transactions.• Monitoring and assessing performance of individual Lenders and the H2G programme overall.• Working closely with colleagues across BBB, to contribute to achievement of wider BBB objectives.• In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to undertake similar duties in respect of other Lending

Solutions programmes, as necessary.

Internal and external stakeholdersInternally, the successful applicant will work with colleagues across the Lending Solutions Team as well as colleagues from the BBB Risk, Finance, Strategy, PR and Legal functions.

Externally, the successful applicant will develop relationships with the:• Lenders participating in H2G.• Third party contractors delivering support services such as Law Firms and Accountants.• Government departments and certain European Institutions.

Key competencies/experience Is able to work collaboratively and flexibly as part of a team, to achieve measurable results. Has strong financial modelling experience and strong Excel skills Has strong communication (verbal and written) skills and is able to deliver concise information potentially covering a

variant of complex issues. Ability to communicate well at all levels, both verbally and in writing. Strong presentational skills.

QualificationsIdeally qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
