Main Objectives Who we are? We are a team of 6 people who worked as the “Comm’Unity Media Group” to realize a good Promotional Campaign for the Homeless Coalition. We are looking for the best solution to offer a good communication idea to achieve different objectives. As our client must have power of choice, we decide to develop two different ideas, it will allow the client to choose the one he find the most relevant.

Our objectives They are the same for the the two different planned project, basically, raise awareness, and raise fund:

- Raise awareness of the problems of homelessness to everyone who attends the event.

- Provide information on a variety of options in helping end homelessness in Palm Beach County.

- Raise funds and goods for the Homeless Coalition. - Find volunteers willing to donate time or resources to the

Homeless Coalition.

4

First project: The Basketball Tournament

The Homeless Coalition’s - 3 vs. 3 Basketball Charity Drive

Event Overview Our goal is to organize a 32-team single elimination basketball tournament. Each team will consist of a minimum of 3 players and a maximum of 4 players in case teams want to have a substitute player. This event will take place in the FAU Basketball course. We choose to set the tournament outdoors, in order to allow a maximum of person to assist at this event and have a better visibility. Also, by checking the price with the FAU staff, this option appear to be a best viable in term of cost.

Fund raising The event objective is to raise fund and goods, in that purpose, the participation fee for each player will be 10$. Also some member of the homeless coalition will have a stand in order to raise individual donation. At the same spot, bin will be available to collect physical goods, who will be sent to the homeless coalition.

Everyone who attends the event will be encouraged to bring a donation, money or check, home goods, clothing, kitchen supplies, bathroom toiletries, bedroom linens but nothing of substantial size. All the donated goods will be placed neatly into a cargo van rented from U-Haul and brought back to the Homeless Coalition to help the homeless people of Palm Beach County.

5

Practical organization There will a total of 4 basketball hoops with games playing on each hoop at the Rec Center - 4 regions, East, West, North, and South with 8 teams per region. Games are single elimination and will run a total of 15 minutes. The team with the highest score after 15 minutes advances and the losing team are eliminated from the competition. The games will be refereed as well as a scorekeeper and timekeeper by a volunteer or a staff member from the Rec Center. There will be volunteers at the event to help organize and run the tournament, staff members can be hired at the rate of $10 per hour if needed.

6

Promotion In order to raise awareness for our event, we have realized this flyer, and will distribute it to student on campus. Also, we want to make this event a family event, by encouraging participant to bring family and friend’s Local newspaper and the school paper and any other media outlets will be welcome to cover the event.

Also, a traditional Facebook Event will be created, in order to communicate with the people who have register for the tournament. Event registration will be held in the FAU Breezeway and Fraternities will be a huge target market to compete in the competition. They will be able to compete against one another for bragging rights.

7

Each team can compete in another way by trying to get the most donations per team. This gives an incentive to help everyone donate more towards the event or charity. Teams can create Facebook pages or even the Homeless Coalition can create a donate page that helps create awareness.

Other ideas: - Create an Instagram account to post a lot of pictures before,

during and after the event to continue the promotion - Create an hashtag (for example #HCBasketball) to create a

community, to increase the visibility, to share the pictures…

8

9

Estimated Budget In order to be as accurate as possible, we have realize two budget, one optimistic and one pessimistic. The cash in and cash out will be the same for the two budget

We decide to create two different worksheet of the donation raised, each one depending on the frequentation of the event.

2nd project: The Giant Box

The Giant Box in the Mall

Event Overview Our goal is to organize an attractive event with a big visibility. This event is totally linked with this association. We purpose a creative idea because Homeless Coalition needs to be more known. Our first goal is to collect a maximum of donations with a minimum of cost. The idea is to put a “Giant Box”, the Homeless Coalition Symbol and create an event during the weekend before “the back to school”. The box has 4 sides and each of them are for donations: 1 for food, 1 for money, 1 for clothes and & for shoes. Like a giant post box, visitors can put the donations inside. Visitors can come thanks to the communication and bring some donations or they can discover the Giant Box when they come in the Town Center, buy some donations and put them inside the box.

12

That’s why we choose the Town Center in Boca Raton. This mall has 11 million annual visitors. This shopping center is large: 1,75 million square feet.Around the box there are some animations to attract people. The volunteers can play music and organize games and mainly they can inform about the association.

Fund raising The event objective is to cover the cost and to win money and goods. Moreover, new volunteers may join the association. There are different visitors profiles:

- Those who came in Town Center without know the event and discover the association: increase notoriety.

- Those who came in Town Center without know the event and who are sensitized and then make a donation: charity act.

- Those who come trough the communication and make a donation: new regulars donors who want invest in this association.

- Those who came trough the communication and became new volunteers: the association concerns them and they want help.

Practical organization Authorization of Town Center Creation of the Box Transportation of the Box Regroup a maximum of volunteers for this event (in the association and in FAU) 4 big box in the Giant box for the donations (like 4 containers) 1 van to stock donations Communication Partnership with FAU: students (and teacher) who are volunteers

13

Promotion In order to raise awareness for our event, we have realized this flyer, and will distribute it by volunteers in the Town Center few days before the event and by volunteers’ students on FAU campus. For this event we imagine a creative flyer. You can bend it (origami) and the flyer turns into a box like the symbol of the association and our event for a good consistency and to bring some fun to attract visitors.

14

A Facebook Event will be created and shared by volunteers (in the association and FAU).

Other ideas: - Create an Instagram account to post a lot of pictures before,

during and after the event to continue the promotion - Create an hashtag (for example #HCGiantBox) to create a

community, to increase the visibility, to share the pictures…
