ABOUT THE HOST CHAPTERS
Colorado State University, Fort CollinsSHPE understands the need to prepare aspring young leaders from local cities throughout the United States. SHPE at Colorado State University provides key opportunities for students to become leaders and innovators in the field and inspirational role models for tomorrow’s STEAM students. These key opportunitiesare probvided to our SHPE students through a variety of programs focused on professional development and entworking, community involvement and outreach, academic success and retention, and mentorship.
Colorado Professional ChapterThe SHPE Colorado Chapter was founded in 1988. Since its inception, SHPE Colorado has awarded over $50,000 in scholarships to over 50 aspriring young Hipanic Engineers and Scientist in Colorado. SHPE Colorado has also hosted the National SHPE Conference in 1995 and 2007. The SHPE Colorado Professional chapter is hosting the Regional Leadership Development COnference for the second time. The Denver Professional chapter has been extensively growing.
WELCOME!
REGION 3 - 1
Elevate yourself as high as Rocky Mountains.DEAR REGION 3 LEADERS:This year, the Regional Leadership Development Conference has been programmed to
help you grow and better yourself by becoming a stronger leader. Our agenda is dedicated
to tackling the most critical topics that characterize a great leader. The purpose of RLDC
is to help you grow as a leader, be able to reconstruct your leadership style and be able
to return to your home chapter and apply your new knowledge. Our theme “Eleva Tu:
Knowledge, Service and Authenticity” is set to help you grow in all three aspects.
Knowledge: All great leaders continue growing their knowledge and expanding such
knowledge into other fields. Having a greater base knowledge, allows you to be able
to focus your thoughts from different points of views. By doing so, problems are quickly
followed by effective solutions which are easily formulated based on the extensive
knowledge you have developed.
Service: Part of being a leader, is being able to serve those around you as well as your
community. As STEM leaders, it is crucial to be able to understand the impact your
actions can bring, whether it is a positive impact or negative. The RLDC has embedded
workshops that help you understand how to effectively use your leadership and skills for
the benefit and well-being of others.
Authenticity: Being true to yourself and being authentic about your persona will aid you
in leading and being more influential. There is a tendency to pay attention and back up
those who are true and speak from the heart. RLDC will help you spark the flame inside of
you and radiate your true leadership potential.
