Construction Requirements for Guide Rail Structural Support:

Use a 4" x 12" board or create an assembly of two 2" x 4" boards and two 2" x 12" boards using wood glue and #10 x 2 1/2" wood screws to create a structural support of appropriate strength (as shown below).

Secure the above guide rail support at the top and bottom of the hoistway as well as at nine foot increments (or less) down the length of the hoistway.

Structural Support Assembly:

Minimum Rail Reactions:

RX = 215 foot pounds RY = 550 foot pounds

Safety considerations are not included in above rail reactions. When designing the hoistway you must include appropriate safety conditions. The force to pull out each fastener should not be less than 150 lbs.

See Page 16 for more details about

Hoistway Rail Backing Requirements

Elevator Electrical Requirements:

BY OTHERS: Arrange for supply power at top of hoistway prior to installation.

a: 230V, 1 phase, 30 amp, 60 Hz for main power supply: The main line supply shall consist of L1 (hot), L2 (hot). Dedicated neutral and ground installed through a lockable fused disconnect with an interlock auxiliary contact kit for battery lowering. 10-3 wire shall be used.

b: 110V, 15 amp, 60 Hz dedicated service for cab lighting; the car light supply shall consist of hot, neutral and ground installed through a lockable fused disconnect or circuit breaker

All fusing and electrical hook up to supply should be done to local code.

BY OTHERS: The overhead machine space requires a 110V, 15 amp, 60 Hz branch circuit for no less than 10 candle power of lighting. Providing a lighting fixture with light guard and an on/off switch to control the light located in such a way that personal entry into the machine space is not required to activate the switch.

BY OTHERS: Telephone line brought into the controller. A two-position 3.5mm plug is provided on the controller interface board for the incoming telephone line.

If the Controller is to be Located Outside of the Hoistway:

The Advantage Home Elevator controller cabinet is 21" wide by 15 1/2" high by 8" deep. When attached to a wall outside of the hoistway, you must leave a 36" square work area in front of the controller cabinet.

The controller must be located no more than 50 feet from the drive motor.

Optional Hydraulic Equipment Machine Room:
