2. SITE DISTURBANCE SHALL NOT PROCEED UNTIL EROSION CONTROL MEASURES HAVE BEEN INSTALLED, AND ALLGOVERNING AGENCIES HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED BY THE CONTRACTOR.
3. ALL PAVED WALKWAYS AND ROADS MUST BE KEPT CLEAN AND FREE OF DEBRIS FOR THE DURATION OF THECONTRACT.
4. STEP RISERS SHALL BE 4" MINIMUM, 7" MAXIMUM. BUILDING EGRESS DOOR SILLS SHALL HAVE A MAXIMUM 1/4"REVEAL (VERTICAL CHANGE). HANDICAP FLUSH CURB RAMPS SHALL ALSO HAVE A MAXIMUM 1/4" REVEAL AND BECONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH FEDERAL ADA STANDARDS FOR ACCESSIBLE DESIGN.
5. ALL CURB SHALL HAVE 6" FACE UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
6. ALL CONCRETE FOR THE SITE SHALL BE MADE WITH AIR-ENTRAINED CONCRETE, CLASS B, HAVING COMPRESSIVESTRENGTH IN 28 DAYS OF 4,500 PSI OR BETTER.
9. ANY IMPORTATION OF SOIL SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CERTIFICATION OF CLEAN FILL MATERIAL BEINGFROM VIRGIN SOURCE OR TESTING BE PROVIDED FOR CERTIFICATION OF THE MATERIAL PRIOR TO ANY IMPORTING.

2. THE APPLICANT SHALL OWN, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN ALL WATER AND SEWER LINES AND RESPECTIVEAPPURTENANCES NOT LOCATED WITHIN THE RIGHT-OF-WAY.
3. MINIMUM DEPTH OF COVER FOR ALL STORM SEWER PIPES IS TWO (2) FEET OR AS SPECIFIED BY MANUFACTURER.ALL SANITARY SEWER AND WATER SERVICE PIPES SHALL HAVE THREE (3) FEET AND FOUR (4) FEET MINIMUM DEPTHOF COVER, RESPECTIVELY.
4. ALL STORM SEWERS AND STRUCTURES SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH MUNICIPAL STANDARDS.THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR OBTAINING AND REVIEWING APPLICABLE MUNICIPAL REQUIREMENTS PRIORTO THE START OF WORK.
5. ALL DRAINAGE PIPE SHALL BE N-12 (SOILTIGHT) HDPE OR CLASS III RCP AND ALL SANITARY SEWER PIPE SHALL BESDR-35 PVC UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. ALL WATER SERVICE PIPE SHALL BE CLASS 52 CEMENT-LINED DIP UNLESSOTHERWISE NOTED.
6. ALL DRAINAGE INLETS SHALL BE EQUIPPED WITH BICYCLE-SAFE GRATES AND ALL CURB INLETS SHALL HAVE TYPE 'N'ECO-HEAD CURB PIECES.
7. ALL UTILITY CONSTRUCTION TO BE COORDINATED WITH THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY COMPANIES AND TOWNSHIP OFLOGAN AND SHALL CONFORM WITH THE REQUIREMENTS THEREOF.
8. CONCRETE ENCASEMENTS WILL BE REQUIRED AT UTILITY CROSSINGS WHERE VERTICAL AND/OR HORIZONTALSEPARATION DOES NOT MEET APPLICABLE STANDARDS (18" OF CLEARANCE RECOMMENDED).
9. THE CONTRACTOR IS SPECIFICALLY CAUTIONED THAT THE LOCATION AND/OR ELEVATION OF EXISTING UTILITIES ASSHOWN ON THESE PLANS IS BASED ON RECORDS OF THE VARIOUS UTILITY COMPANIES AND, WHERE POSSIBLE,MEASUREMENTS TAKEN IN THE FIELD. THE INFORMATION IS NOT TO BE RELIED ON AS BEING EXACT OR COMPLETE.THE CONTRACTOR MUST CALL NEW JERSEY ONE-CALL AND THE APPROPRIATE UTILITY COMPANIES TO REQUESTEXACT FIELD LOCATION OF UTILITIES. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY/COST OF THE CONTRACTOR TO RELOCATEALL EXISTING UTILITIES WHICH CONFLICT WITH THE PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS SHOWN ON THE PLANS IN A MANNERWHICH WILL NOT NEGATIVELY AFFECT ANY EXISTING USERS OF THESE UTILITIES.
10. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FIELD VERIFY ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS, UTILITY LOCATIONS, AND INVERTS PRIOR TOCONSTRUCTION USING TEST PITS, GROUND-PENETRATING RADAR, ETC. ANY CONDITIONS FOUND TO DIFFER FROMTHOSE SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY BROUGHT TO THE ATTENTION OF THE ENGINEER.
11. ALL ON-SITE UTILITIES SHALL BE UNDERGROUND UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
12. CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS AND METHODS NOT OTHERWISE SPECIFIED OR SHOWN HERIN SHALL CONFORM TO NEWJERSEY DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR ROAD AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION(THE LATEST EDITION AND AMENDMENTS)
13. COMPACTION IN FILL AREAS BENEATH ALL PROPOSED UTILITIES AND STRUCTURES SHOULD MEET ALLMANUFACTURERS AND TOWNSHIP REQUIREMENTS AND BE EQUAL TO THE MINIMUM 95% MODIFIED PROCTORDENSITY
14. SEWERS CONVEYING SANITARY FLOW, COMBINED SANITARY AND STORMWATER FLOW, OR INDUSTRIAL FLOWSHALL BE SEPARATED FROM WATER MAINS BY A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST TEN (10) FEET HORIZONTALLY. IF SUCH ALATERAL SEPARATION IS NOT POSSIBLE, THE PIPES SHALL BE IN SEPARATE TRENCHES AT LEAST EIGHTEEN (18)INCHES BELOW THE BOTTOM OF THE WATER MAIN, OR SUCH OTHER SEPARATION AS APPROVED BY THEDEPARTMENT.
15. WHERE APPROPRIATE SEPARATION FROM A WATER MAIN IS NOT POSSIBLE, THE SEWER SHALL BE ENCASED IN CONCRETE, OR CONSTRUCTED OF DUCTILE IRON PIPE USING MECHANICAL OR SLIP-ON JOINTS FOR A DISTANCE OF AT LEAST TEN (10) FEET ON EITHER SIDE OF THE CROSSING. IN ADDITION, ONE FULL LENGTH OF SEWER PIPE SHOULD BE LOCATED SO BOTH JOINTS WILL BE AS FAR FROM THE WATER LINE AS POSSIBLE. WHERE A WATER MAINCROSSES UNDER A SEWER, ADEQUATE STRUCTURAL SUPPORT FOR THE SEWER SHALL BE PROVIDED. THE DEPARTMENT MAY ALSO REQUIRE ADDITIONAL STRUCTURAL SUPPORT FOR STORM SEWERS OVER SEWER LINES.
16. PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION, A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL BE RETAINED FOR ON-SITE INSPECTIONS OF EXISTING SUBGRADE CONDITIONS, EXCAVATION AND CONTROLLED FILL OF POOR SUBGRADE AREAS, AND CERTIFICATION OF ALL SUBGRADE AREAS OF ANY PAVEMENT AND UNDERGROUND UTILITIES ON THE SUBJECT SITE. ADDITIONALLY, PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF ANY SITE WORK, THE GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER SHALL PROVIDE A SCOPE OF SERVICES TO THE TOWNSHIP OF LOGAN'S ENGINEER FOR REVIEW AND APPROVAL.

1. ALL APPLICABLE EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES SHALL BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO ANY GRADINGOPERATION AND/OR INSTALLATION OF PROPOSED STRUCTURES OR UTILITIES.
2. SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES ON THIS PLAN SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCEWITH THE STANDARDS FOR SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL IN NEW JERSEY.
3. APPLICABLE EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PRACTICES SHALL BE LEFT IN PLACE UNTIL CONSTRUCTION ISCOMPLETED AND/OR THE AREA IS STABILIZED.

8. THE SITE SHALL AT ALL TIMES BE GRADED AND MAINTAINED SUCH THAT ALL STORMWATER RUNOFF IS DIVERTEDTO SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL FACILITIES.
9. ALL SEDIMENTATION STRUCTURES WILL BE INSPECTED AND MAINTAINED ON A REGULAR BASIS AND AFTER EVERYSTORM EVENT.
10. A CRUSHED STONE, TIRE CLEANING PAD WILL BE INSTALLED WHEREVER A CONSTRUCTION ACCESS EXISTS. THESTABILIZED PAD WILL BE INSTALLED ACCORDING TO THE STANDARD FOR STABILIZED CONSTRUCTION ACCESS.
11. ALL DRIVEWAYS MUST BE STABILIZED WITH 2 ½" CRUSHED STONE OR SUBBASE PRIOR TO INDIVIDUAL LOTCONSTRUCTION.
12. PAVED AREAS MUST BE KEPT CLEAN AT ALL TIMES.
13. ALL CATCH BASIN INLETS WILL BE PROTECTED ACCORDING TO THE CERTIFIED PLAN.
14. ALL STORM DRAINAGE OUTLETS WILL BE STABILIZED, AS REQUIRED, BEFORE THE DISCHARGE POINTS BECOMEOPERATIONAL.
15. ALL DEWATERING OPERATIONS MUST DISCHARGE DIRECTLY INTO A SEDIMENT FILTER AREA. THE SEDIMENTFILTER SHOULD BE COMPOSED OF A SUITABLE SEDIMENT FILTER FABRIC. (SEE DETAIL). THE BASIN MUST BEDEWATERED TO NORMAL POOL WITHIN 10 DAYS OF THE DESIGN STORM.
16. NJSA 4:24-39, ET SEQ. REQUIRES THAT NO CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY BE ISSUED BEFORE ALL PROVISIONS OFTHE CERTIFIED SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN HAVE BEEN COMPLIED WITH FOR PERMANENTMEASURES. ALL SITE WORK FOR THE PROJECT MUST BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO THE DISTRICT ISSUING A REPORT OFCOMPLIANCE AS A PREREQUISITE TO THE ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY BY THE MUNICIPALITY.
17. MULCHING IS REQUIRED ON ALL SEEDED AREAS TO INSURE AGAINST EROSION BEFORE GRASS IS ESTABLISHEDTO PROMOTE EARLIER VEGETATION COVER.
18. OFFSITE SEDIMENT DISTURBANCE MAY REQUIRE ADDITIONAL CONTROL MEASURES TO BE DETERMINED BY THEEROSION CONTROL INSPECTOR.
19. A COPY OF THE CERTIFIED SOIL EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLAN MUST BE MAINTAINED ON THE PROJECTSITE DURING CONSTRUCTION.
20. THE GLOUCESTER SOIL CONSERVATION DISTRICT SHALL BE NOTIFIED 48 HOURS PRIOR TO ANY LANDDISTURBANCE.
21. ANY CONVEYANCE OF THIS PROJECT PRIOR TO ITS COMPLETION WILL TRANSFER FULL RESPONSIBILITY FORCOMPLIANCE WITH THE CERTIFIED PLAN TO ANY SUBSEQUENT OWNERS.

OFFICIAL, THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE NOTICE AT LEAST FORTY-EIGHT HOURS (48
HRS.) IN ADVANCE OF THE ANTICIPATED DELIVERY DATE OF ANY PLANT MATERIALS TO THE PROJECT SITE.
A LEGIBLE COPY OF THE INVOICE, SHOWING VARIETIES AND SIZES OF MATERIALS INCLUDED FOR EACH
SHIPMENT SHALL BE FURNISHED TO THE PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT, OR GOVERNING MUNICIPAL
OFFICIAL.
B. THE PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT OR GOVERNING MUNICIPAL OFFICIAL RESERVES THE RIGHT TO
INSPECT AND REJECT PLANTS AT ANY TIME AND AT ANY PLACE.
5. PROTECTION OF EXISTING VEGETATION
A. BEFORE COMMENCING WORK, ALL EXISTING VEGETATION WHICH COULD BE IMPACTED AS A RESULT OF
THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES MUST BE PROTECTED FROM DAMAGE BY THE INSTALLATION
OF TREE PROTECTION FENCING. FENCING SHALL BE LOCATED AT THE DRIP-LINE OR LIMIT OF
DISTURBANCE AS DEPICTED WITHIN THE APPROVED OR FINAL PLAN SET, ESTABLISHING THE TREE
PROTECTION ZONE. FENCE INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVIDED ''TREE
PROTECTION FENCE DETAIL.'' NO WORK MAY BEGIN UNTIL THIS REQUIREMENT IS FULFILLED. THE
FENCING SHALL BE INSPECTED REGULARLY BY THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR AND MAINTAINED UNTIL ALL
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES HAVE BEEN COMPLETED.
B. IN ORDER TO AVOID DAMAGE TO ROOTS, BARK OR LOWER BRANCHES, NO VEHICLE, EQUIPMENT, DEBRIS,
OR OTHER MATERIALS SHALL BE DRIVEN, PARKED OR PLACED WITHIN THE TREE PROTECTION ZONE. ALL
ON-SITE CONTRACTOR'S SHALL USE ANY AND ALL PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES WHEN PERFORMING WORK
AROUND TREES, WALKS, PAVEMENTS, UTILITIES, AND ANY OTHER FEATURES EITHER EXISTING OR
PREVIOUSLY INSTALLED UNDER THIS CONTRACT.
C. IN RARE INSTANCES WHERE EXCAVATING, FILL, OR GRADING IS REQUIRED WITHIN THE DRIP-LINE OF
TREES TO REMAIN, THE WORK SHALL BE PERFORMED AS FOLLOWS:
1. TRENCHING: WHEN TRENCHING OCCURS AROUND TREES TO REMAIN, THE TREE ROOTS SHALL NOT BE
CUT, BUT THE TRENCH SHALL BE TUNNELED UNDER OR AROUND THE ROOTS BY CAREFUL HAND DIGGING
AND WITHOUT INJURY TO THE ROOTS. NO ROOTS, LIMBS, OR WOODS ARE TO HAVE ANY PAINT OR
MATERIAL APPLIED TO ANY SURFACE.
2. RAISING GRADES: WHEN THE GRADE AT AN EXISTING TREE IS BELOW THE NEW FINISHED GRADE, AND
FILL NOT EXCEEDING 6 INCHES (6'') IS REQUIRED, CLEAN, WASHED GRAVEL FROM ONE TO TWO INCHES
(1'' - 2'') IN SIZE SHALL BE PLACED DIRECTLY AROUND THE TREE TRUNK. THE GRAVEL SHALL EXTEND
OUT FROM THE TRUNK ON ALL SIDES A MINIMUM OF 18 INCHES (18'') AND FINISH APPROXIMATELY TWO
INCHES (2'') ABOVE THE FINISH GRADE AT TREE. INSTALL GRAVEL BEFORE ANY EARTH FILL IS PLACED.
NEW EARTH FILL SHALL NOT BE LEFT IN CONTACT WITH THE TRUNK OF ANY TREE REQUIRING FILL.
WHERE FILL EXCEEDING 6 INCHES (6'') IS REQUIRED, A DRY LAID TREE WELL SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED.
IF APPLICABLE, TREE WELL INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVIDED ''TREE WELL
DETAIL.''
3. LOWERING GRADES: EXISTING TREES LOCATED IN AREAS WHERE THE NEW FINISHED GRADE IS TO BE
LOWERED, SHALL HAVE RE-GRADING WORK DONE BY HAND TO THE INDICATED ELEVATION, NO GREATER
THAN SIX INCHES (6''). ROOTS SHALL BE CUT CLEANLY THREE INCHES (3'') BELOW FINISHED GRADE
UNDER THE DIRECTION OF A LICENSED ARBORIST. WHERE CUT EXCEEDING 6 INCHES (6'') IS REQUIRED,
A DRY LAID RETAINING WALL SHALL BE CONSTRUCTED. IF APPLICABLE, THE RETAINING WALL
INSTALLATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVIDED ''TREE RETAINING WALL DETAIL.''
6. SOIL AMENDMENTS
A. LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL OBTAIN A SOIL TEST OF THE IN-SITU TOPSOIL BY A CERTIFIED SOIL
LABORATORY PRIOR TO PLANTING. LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALLOW FOR A TWO WEEK
TURNAROUND TIME FROM SUBMITTAL OF SAMPLE TO NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS.
B. BASED ON SOIL TEST RESULTS, ADJUST THE RATES OF LIME AND FERTILIZER THAT SHALL BE MIXED INTO
THE TOP SIX INCHES (6'') OF TOPSOIL. THE LIME AND FERTILIZER RATES PROVIDED WITHIN THE ''SEED
SPECIFICATION'' OR ''SOD SPECIFICATION'' IS APPROXIMATE AND FOR BIDDING PURPOSES ONLY. IF
ADDITIONAL AMENDMENTS ARE NECESSARY, ADJUST THE TOPSOIL AS FOLLOWS:
MODIFY HEAVY CLAY OR SILT SOILS (MORE THAN 40% CLAY OR SILT) BY ADDING COMPOSTED PINE BARK
(UP TO 30% BY VOLUME) OR GYPSUM.
MODIFY EXTREMELY SANDY SOILS (MORE THAN 85%) BY ADDING ORGANIC MATTER AND/OR DRY,
SHREDDED CLAY LOAM UP TO 30% OF THE TOTAL MIX.
7. TOPSOIL
A. TOPSOIL SHALL BE FERTILE, FRIABLE, NATURAL TOPSOIL OF LOAMING CHARACTER, WITHOUT ADMIXTURE
OF SUBSOIL MATERIAL OBTAINED FROM A WELL-DRAINED ARABLE SITE, FREE FROM ALL CLAY, LUMPS,
COARSE SANDS, STONES, PLANTS, ROOTS, STICKS, AND OTHER FOREIGN MATERIAL GREATER THAN ONE
INCH (1'').
B. TOPSOIL SHALL HAVE A PH RANGE OF 5.0-7.0 AND SHALL NOT CONTAIN LESS THAN 6% ORGANIC MATTER
BY WEIGHT.
C. OBTAIN TOPSOIL ONLY FROM LOCAL SOURCES OR FROM AREAS HAVING SIMILAR SOIL CHARACTERISTICS
TO THAT FOUND AT THE PROJECT SITE.
D. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE A DEEP LAYER OF TOPSOIL IN ALL PLANTING AREAS.
TOPSOIL SHALL BE SPREAD OVER A PREPARED SURFACE IN A UNIFORM LAYER TO ACHIEVE THE DESIRED
COMPACTED THICKNESS. THE SPREADING OF TOPSOIL SHALL NOT BE CONDUCTED UNDER MUDDY OR
FROZEN SOIL CONDITIONS.
8. FINISHED GRADING
A. UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED IN THE CONTRACT, THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE
FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TOPSOIL AND THE ESTABLISHMENT OF FINE-GRADING WITHIN THE
DISTURBED AREA OF THE SITE.
B. LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THAT THE SUB-GRADE ELEVATION MEETS THE FINISHED GRADE
ELEVATION (LESS THE REQUIRED TOPSOIL), IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE APPROVED OR FINAL GRADING
PLAN.
C. ALL LAWN AND PLANTING AREAS SHALL BE GRADED TO A SMOOTH, EVEN AND UNIFORM PLANE WITH NO
ABRUPT CHANGE OF SURFACE AS DEPICTED WITHIN THE APPROVED OR FINAL CONSTRUCTION SET
UNLESS OTHERWISE DIRECTED BY THE PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT OR MUNICIPAL OFFICIAL.
D. ALL PLANTING AND LAWN AREAS SHALL BE GRADED AND MAINTAINED TO ALLOW A FREE FLOW OF
SURFACE WATER.
9. LAWN (SEED OR SOD)
A. SEED MIXTURE SHALL BE FRESH, CLEAN, NEW CROP SEED. SOD SHALL BE STRONGLY ROOTED, UNIFORM
IN THICKNESS, AND FREE OF WEEDS, DISEASE, AND PESTS.
B. SEED OR SOD SHALL BE PURCHASED FROM A RECOGNIZED DISTRIBUTOR AND SHALL BE COMPOSED OF
THE MIX OR BLEND WITHIN THE PROVIDED ''SEED SPECIFICATION'' OR ''SOD SPECIFICATION.''
C. REFERENCE LANDSCAPE PLAN FOR AREAS TO BE SEEDED OR LAID WITH SOD.
D. SEEDING SHALL NOT BE PERFORMED IN WINDY WEATHER. IF THE SEASON OF THE PROJECT COMPLETION
PROHIBITS PERMANENT STABILIZATION, TEMPORARY STABILIZATION SHALL BE PROVIDED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE ''TEMPORARY SEEDING SPECIFICATION.''
E. PROTECT NEW LAWN AREAS AGAINST TRESPASSING WHILE THE SEED IS GERMINATING. FURNISH AND
INSTALL FENCES, SIGNS, BARRIERS OR ANY OTHER NECESSARY TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE DEVICES.
DAMAGE RESULTING FROM TRESPASS, EROSION, WASHOUT, SETTLEMENT OR OTHER CAUSES SHALL BE
REPAIRED BY THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR AT HIS EXPENSE. REMOVE ALL FENCES, SIGNS, BARRIERS
OR OTHER TEMPORARY PROTECTIVE DEVICES ONCE LAWN HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED.
10. PLANT QUALITY
A. ALL PLANT MATERIAL SHALL CONFORM TO THE AMERICAN STANDARD FOR NURSERY STOCK (ANSI
Z60.1-2014) OR LATEST REVISION AS PUBLISHED BY THE AMERICAN NURSERY AND LANDSCAPE
ASSOCIATION.
B. IN ALL CASES, BOTANICAL NAMES LISTED WITHIN THE APPROVED OR FINAL PLANT LIST SHALL TAKE
PRECEDENCE OVER COMMON NAMES.
C. ALL PLANTS SHALL BE OF SELECTED SPECIMEN QUALITY, EXCEPTIONALLY HEAVY, TIGHTLY KNIT, SO
TRAINED OR FAVORED IN THEIR DEVELOPMENT AND APPEARANCE AS TO BE SUPERIOR IN FORM, NUMBER
OF BRANCHES, COMPACTNESS AND SYMMETRY. ALL PLANTS SHALL HAVE A NORMAL HABIT OR SOUND,
HEALTHY, VIGOROUS PLANTS WITH WELL DEVELOPED ROOT SYSTEM. PLANTS SHALL BE FREE OF
DISEASE, INSECT PESTS, EGGS OR LARVAE.
D. PLANTS SHALL NOT BE PRUNED BEFORE DELIVERY. TREES WITH ABRASION OF THE BARK, SUNSCALDS,
DISFIGURING KNOTS OR FRESH CUTS OF LIMBS OVER ONE AND ONE-FOURTH INCHES (1-1/4'') WHICH
HAVE NOT COMPLETELY CALLOUSED SHALL BE REJECTED.
E. ALL PLANTS SHALL BE TYPICAL OF THEIR SPECIES OR VARIETY AND SHALL HAVE A NORMAL HABIT OF
GROWTH AND BE LEGIBLY TAGGED WITH THE PROPER NAME AND SIZE.
F. THE ROOT SYSTEM OF EACH PLANT SHALL BE WELL PROVIDED WITH FIBROUS ROOTS. ALL PARTS SHALL
BE SOUND, HEALTHY, VIGOROUS, WELL-BRANCHED AND DENSELY FOLIATED WHEN IN LEAF.
G. ALL PLANTS DESIGNATED BALL AND BURLAP (B&B) MUST BE MOVED WITH THE ROOT SYSTEM AS SOLID
UNITS WITH BALLS OF EARTH FIRMLY WRAPPED WITH BURLAP. THE DIAMETER AND DEPTH OF THE BALLS
OF EARTH MUST BE SUFFICIENT TO ENCOMPASS THE FIBROUS ROOT FEEDING SYSTEMS NECESSARY FOR
THE HEALTHY DEVELOPMENT OF THE PLANT. NO PLANT SHALL BE ACCEPTED WHEN THE BALL OF EARTH
SURROUNDING ITS ROOTS HAS BEEN BADLY CRACKED OR BROKEN PREPARATORY TO OR DURING THE
PROCESS OF PLANTING. THE BALLS SHALL REMAIN INTACT DURING ALL OPERATIONS. ALL PLANTS THAT
CANNOT BE PLANTED AT ONCE MUST BE HEELED-IN BY SETTING IN THE GROUND AND COVERING THE
BALLS WITH SOIL OR MULCH AND THEN WATERING. HEMP BURLAP AND TWINE IS PREFERABLE TO
TREATED. IF TREATED BURLAP IS USED, ALL TWINE IS TO BE CUT FROM AROUND THE TRUNK AND ALL
BURLAP IS TO BE REMOVED.
H. UNLESS SPECIFICALLY NOTED AS MULTI-STEM, THE TRUNK OF EACH TREE SHALL BE A SINGLE TRUNK
GROWING FROM A SINGLE CROWN OF ROOTS. NO PART OF THE TRUNK SHALL BE CONSPICUOUSLY
CROOKED AS COMPARED WITH NORMAL TREES OF THE SAME VARIETY.
I. PLANTS TRANSPORTED TO THE PROJECT IN OPEN VEHICLES SHALL BE COVERED WITH TARPS OR OTHER
SUITABLE COVERS SECURELY FASTENED TO THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE TO PREVENT INJURY TO THE
PLANTS. CLOSED VEHICLES SHALL BE ADEQUATELY VENTILATED TO PREVENT OVERHEATING OF THE
PLANTS. EVIDENCE OF INADEQUATE PROTECTION FOLLOWING DIGGING, CARELESSNESS WHILE IN
TRANSIT, OR IMPROPER HANDLING OR STORAGE SHALL BE CAUSE FOR REJECTION OF PLANT MATERIAL.
ALL PLANTS SHALL BE KEPT MOIST, FRESH, AND PROTECTED. SUCH PROTECTION SHALL ENCOMPASS THE
ENTIRE PERIOD DURING WHICH THE PLANTS ARE IN TRANSIT, BEING HANDLED, OR ARE IN TEMPORARY
STORAGE.
11. PLANT MEASUREMENTS
A. PLANTS SHALL BE MEASURED WHEN BRANCHES ARE IN THEIR NORMAL POSITION.
B. SHRUBS SHALL MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR SPREAD, HEIGHT OR CONTAINER SIZE STATED IN THE
APPROVED OR FINAL PLANT LIST. THE MEASUREMENTS ARE TO BE TAKEN FROM THE GROUND LEVEL TO
THE AVERAGE HEIGHT OF THE SHRUB AND NOT TO THE LONGEST BRANCH.
C. CALIPER MEASUREMENTS FOR NURSERY GROWN TREES SHALL BE TAKEN AT A POINT ON THE TRUNK SIX
INCHES (6'') ABOVE NATURAL GROUND LEVEL FOR TREES UP TO FOUR INCHES (4'') IN CALIPER, AND AT A
POINT 12 INCHES (12'') ABOVE THE NATURAL GROUND LEVEL FOR TREES EXCEEDING FOUR INCHES (4'')
IN CALIPER.
D. THE MEASUREMENTS SPECIFIED ARE THE MINIMUM SIZE ACCEPTABLE AND, WHERE PRUNING IS
REQUIRED, ARE THE MEASUREMENTS AFTER PRUNING.
12. PLANTING OPERATIONS
A. THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE SUFFICIENT TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT REQUIRED TO CARRY
OUT THE PLANTING OPERATIONS.
B. ALL PLANT MATERIAL SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CORRESPONDING LANDSCAPE
PLAN AND PLANTING DETAILS.
C. LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL MAKE BEST EFFORT TO INSTALL PLANTINGS ON THE SAME DAY AS
DELIVERY. PLANTS THAT REMAIN UNPLANTED FOR A PERIOD OF TIME GREATER THAN THREE (3) DAYS
SHALL BE HEALED IN WITH TOPSOIL OR MULCH AND WATERED AS REQUIRED TO PRESERVE ROOT
MOISTURE.
D. NO PLANT MATERIAL SHALL BE PLANTED IN MUDDY OR FROZEN SOIL.
E. PLANTS WITH INJURED ROOTS OR BRANCHES SHALL BE PRUNED PRIOR TO PLANTING UTILIZING CLEAN,
SHARP TOOLS. ONLY DISEASED OR INJURED PLANTS SHALL BE REMOVED.
F. IF ROCK OR OTHER UNDERGROUND OBSTRUCTION IS ENCOUNTERED, THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT
RESERVES THE RIGHT TO RELOCATE OR ENLARGE PLANTING PITS OR DELETE PLANT MATERIAL FROM THE
CONTRACT.
G. INSTALLATION OF PLANT MATERIAL WITHIN SIGHT TRIANGLES IS DISCOURAGED. IF PLANTS MUST BE
PLANTED WITHIN SIGHT TRIANGLES, TREES SHALL BE LIMBED AND MAINTAINED TO A HEIGHT OF
ABOVE GRADE, AND SHRUBS, GROUND COVER, PERENNIALS, AND ANNUALS SHALL BE
MAINTAINED TO A HEIGHT NOT TO EXCEED ABOVE GRADE UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED OR
SPECIFIED BY THE GOVERNING MUNICIPALITY OR AGENCY.
H. INSTALLATION SHALL OCCUR DURING THE FOLLOWING SEASONS:

SPECIFIED ON THE APPROVED OR FINAL PLANT LIST.
B. IF A PLANT IS UNATTAINABLE OR ON THE FALL DIGGING HAZARD LIST AN EQUIVALENT SPECIES OF THE
SAME SIZE MAY BE REQUESTED FOR SUBSTITUTION OF THE ORIGINAL PLANT.
C. ALL SUBSTITUTIONS SHALL BE APPROVED BY THE PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT OR MUNICIPAL
OFFICIAL PRIOR TO ORDERING AND INSTALLATION.
14. MULCH
A. DOUBLE SHREDDED HARDWOOD MULCH OR APPROVED EQUAL SHALL BE USED AS A TOP
DRESSING IN ALL SHRUB PLANTING BEDS AND AROUND ALL TREES PLANTED BY LANDSCAPE
CONTRACTOR. GROUND COVER, PERENNIAL, AND ANNUAL PLANTING BEDS SHALL BE MULCHED WITH A
TWO INCH (2'') TOP DRESSING. SINGLE TREES OR SHRUBS SHALL BE MULCHED TO AVOID CONTACT WITH
TRUNK OR PLANT STEM. MULCH SHALL BE OF SUFFICIENT CHARACTER AS NOT TO BE EASILY DISPLACED
BY WIND OR WATER RUNOFF.
15. IRRIGATION
A. LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL WATER NEW PLANTINGS FROM TIME OF INSTALL AND THROUGHOUT
REQUIRED 90-DAY MAINTENANCE PERIOD UNTIL PLANTS ARE ESTABLISHED. IF ON-SITE WATER IS NOT
AVAILABLE AT THE PROJECT LOCATION, THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH IT BY MEANS OR A
WATERING TRUCK OR OTHER ACCEPTABLE MANNER.
B. THE QUANTITY OF WATER APPLIED AT ONE TIME SHALL BE SUFFICIENT TO PENETRATE THE SOIL TO A
MINIMUM OF EIGHT INCHES (8'') IN SHRUB BEDS AND SIX INCHES (6'') IN TURF AREAS AT A RATE WHICH
WILL PREVENT SATURATION OF THE SOIL.
C. IF AN AUTOMATIC IRRIGATION SYSTEM HAS BEEN INSTALLED, IT CAN BE USED FOR WATERING PLANT
MATERIAL. HOWEVER, FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM DOES NOT ELIMINATE THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR'S
RESPONSIBILITY OF PLANT HEALTH AND ESTABLISHMENT.
16. CLEAN UP
A. DURING THE COURSE OF CONSTRUCTION/PLANT INSTALLATION, EXCESS AND WASTE MATERIALS SHALL
BE CONTINUOUSLY AND PROMPTLY REMOVED AT THE END OF EACH WORK DAY. ALL DEBRIS, MATERIALS,
AND TOOLS SHALL BE PROPERLY STORED, STOCKPILED OR DISPOSED OF AND ALL PAVED AREAS SHALL BE
CLEANED.
B. THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL DISPOSE OF ALL RUBBISH AND EXCESS SOIL AT HIS EXPENSE TO
AN OFF-SITE LOCATION AS APPROVED BY THE LOCAL MUNICIPALITY.
17. GUARANTEE
A. THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL GUARANTEE ALL PLANT MATERIAL FOR A PERIOD OF
FROM APPROVAL OF LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION BY THE PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT, MUNICIPAL
OFFICIAL, OR OWNER/OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE. LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUPPLY THE OWNER
WITH A MAINTENANCE BOND IN THE AMOUNT OF 10% OF THE VALUE OF THE LANDSCAPE INSTALLATION
WHICH WILL BE RELEASED AT THE CONCLUSION OF THE GUARANTEE PERIOD AND ONCE FINAL
ACCEPTANCE HAS BEEN GRANTED BY THE PROJECT LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT, MUNICIPAL OFFICIAL, OR
OWNER/OWNER'S REPRESENTATIVE.

B. MAINTENANCE SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO, REPLACING MULCH THAT HAS BEEN DISPLACED

LIGHTING NOTES:

STATE, LATEST EDITION AND ALL APPLICABLE FEDERAL AND STATE CODES, STANDARDS, REGULATIONS, AND
LAWS.
2. IF APPLICABLE, STRUCTURAL CONCRETE AND CONCRETING PRACTICES SHALL CONFORM WITH ACI-318,
"BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS FOR STRUCTURAL CONCRETE." DETAILS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH
ACI-315, "MANUAL OF STANDARD PRACTICE: DETAILS AND DETAILING OF CONCRETE REINFORCEMENT."
FORMWORK SHALL CONFORM WITH ACI-347 "GUIDE TO FORMWORK FOR CONCRETE", UNLESS OTHERWISE
NOTED ON THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS.
3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND CONDITIONS, AND COORDINATE WITH ALL CONTRACT
DRAWINGS, PROJECT SHOP DRAWINGS AND FIELD CONDITIONS. CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE NO CONFLICTS
BETWEEN LIGHT POLE FOUNDATIONS AND STRUCTURES OR PIPES.
4. SHOP DRAWINGS OF THE FOUNDATION DESIGN SHALL BE SIGNED AND SEALED BY NJ PROFESSIONAL
ENGINEER AND PROVIDE TO THE OWNER OF THEIR REPRESENTATIVE FOR REVIEW PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION.
5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL PROTECT EXISTING FACILITIES, STRUCTURES AND UTILITY LINES FROM ALL
DAMAGE.
6. JOB SAFETY AND CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURES ARE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR.
7. IF APPLICABLE, CONCRETE SHALL BE NJDOT CLASS 'B' CONCRETE AND COMPLY WITH ALL REQUIREMENTS
OUTLINED BY NJDOT.
8. ALL CONCRETE SHALL HAVE A SLUMP NO GREATER THAN 4" TO WITHIN A TOLERANCE OF 1".
9. ALL EXPOSED CONCRETE SHALL BE AIR ENTRAINED, 6% (WITHIN 1% TOLERANCE), CONFORMING TO ASTM
C260.
10. REINFORCING STEEL BARS SHALL BE MINIMUM ASTM A615, GRADE 60. ALL REINFORCEMENT SHALL BE
SECURELY HELD IN PLACE WHILE PLACING CONCRETE. IF REQUIRED, ADDITIONAL BARS OR STIRRUPS SHALL BE
PROVIDED BY THE CONTRACTOR TO FURNISH SUPPORT FOR ALL BARS.
11. CONTRACTOR SHALL HAVE A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER ON SITE TO INSPECT AND APPROVE FILL AND
SUBGRADE CONDITIONS PRIOR TO PLACING CONCRETE.
12. CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO COORDINATE WITH LIGHT POLE MANUFACTURER AND TO VERIFY
APPLICABILITY OF AREA LIGHT POLE FOUNDATION DETAIL. IF SOIL CONDITIONS IN THE FIELD OR DESIGN
ASSUMPTIONS ARE DIFFERENT THAN THOSE INDICATED ON THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS OR DESIGN
CALCULATIONS, ALL CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES ARE TO CEASE AND THE CIVIL ENGINEER AND/OR OWNER
SHALL BE NOTIFIED IMMEDIATELY.
13. BUILDING ACCENT SCONCES/WALL-WASHING LIGHTING AND GROUND MOUNTED SPOTLIGHTS ARE NOT
INCORPORATED IN THIS DESIGN.
14. THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR (EC) IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COORDINATION, PROVISION, AND
CONSTRUCTION/ INSTALLATION OF THE CONCRETE LIGHT POLE BASES, LIGHT POLES AND FIXTURES,
TIMING DEVICES, ALL ELECTRICAL WIRING, CONNECTIONS, SUPPLY, AND COORDINATION IN ACCORDANCE
WITH ALL BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS.
15. THE DESIGN AND COORDINATION OF THE CONCRETE BASES IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR. THE EC SHALL COORDINATE WITH THE MANUFACTURERS OF THE POLES,
FIXTURES, BASES AND ALL ACCESSORIES TO ENSURE THAT ALL ITEMS ARE PROPERLY DESIGNED AND
CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL BUILDING CODES AND SITE CONDITIONS. THE EC SHALL
PROVIDE A DETAILED SHOP DRAWING SIGNED AND SEALED BY A PROFESSIONAL ENGINEER LICENSED IN
THE STATE OF THE PROJECT FOR THE DESIGN OF THE LIGHT POLE BASES. THE SIZE OF BASES MAY VARY
DEPENDING ON SITE SPECIFIC SOIL CONDITIONS, THE SIZE OF LIGHT POLES, THE NUMBER OF FIXTURES ON
EACH POLE, WIND LOADS, AND BUILDING CODE REQUIREMENTS.
16. ALL FIXTURES SHALL CONFORM TO THE INTERNATIONAL DARK-SKY ASSOCIATION POLICIES.
