Objective:The Objective of this Project is to build a home automation using cell phone and applying microcontroller to control and automate variable home appliances.

Page 4: home automation.pptx

Scope and features:

• The scope of Home Automation can range from an automated lighting control, keyless entry , ceiling fans and other home appliances.

• The features of Home Automation can include convenience , aesthetics , and saving energy.

Literature Survey:

Home Automation : Home Automation is the residential extension of building automation. It is automation of home, housework or household activity.

Microcontroller : A Microcontroller is an application specific integrated circuit (ASIC) that features and executes instructions based on input from some user program.

.

RF Communication : Radio Frequency communication is a kind of communication that uses frequency of electromagnetic radiation in the range at which radio signals are transmitted ranging from approximately 3khz to 300ghz.

Remote Control : Remote Control is the control of an activity ,process, or machine from distance as by radiated signals or by coded signals

Existing System:

• Yes, Home Automation is already existing .It’s not new to this Technology world.

• There are several Home Automation systems where they can be accessed by a software through cell phone , through a remote separately designed for this.

Page 9: home automation.pptx

What we are proposing.?• We are proposing a new Home automation System where we

can control various home appliances using cell phone through voice control which is not there till present.

• There are several Home Automation systems which are accessed by the use of computer. But ,here we are not going to use any computer.

• And we are using through voice control . So, not anyone can access it only authorizes user can access it.

Applicable Engineering Standards:

• RS232C Serial Communication

• IEEE 802.15 Bluetooth

Methodology:

• The First part of our project deals with the programming aspect namely how commands will be sent to the sensor.

• The second part of our project deals with the electrical aspect, namely what happens when the sensor receives the signal.

• The signal will contain the Bluetooth ID of the appliance, status request and command. The appliance will receive the digital signal, register the signal, output a command and output the return signal to provide the new status of the device.

BASE PAPER

X. Zing et al.: Design and Performance Evaluation of Voice Activated Wireless Home DevicesContributed PaperManuscript received June 6, 2006 0098 3063/06/$20.00 © 2006 IEEE983Design and Performance Evaluation of Voice ActivatedWireless Home DevicesXiaohua Zeng, Abraham O. Abstract — The design and performance evaluation of voice activated wireless home devices are presented in this paper. The speech recognizer is built using Hidden MarkovModel technology and tested under various kinds of noise. An example of how the built speech recognizer is integrated with X.10 protocol based light controller is given to demonstrate the open architecture of the system. Results from testing andexperimentation show that it is feasible to use voice as theunified control method to control home devices andAppliances.
