Introduction

Home automation is automation of the home, housework or household

activity. Home automation may include centralized control of lighting, HVAC

(heating, ventilation and air conditioning), appliances, and other systems, toprovide improved convenience, comfort, energy efficiency and security.

he concept of home automation has !een around for a long time and

products have !een on the market for decades, though no one solution has

!roken through to the main stream yet. Home automation for the elderly

and disa!led can provide increased "uality of life for persons who might

otherwise re"uire caregivers or institutional care. #t can also provide a

remote interface to home appliances or the automation system itself, via

telephone line, wireless transmission or the internet, to provide control and

monitoring via a smart phone or we! !rowser. his paper will descri!e the

approach which we are implementing to control various home appliances

with Android smart phone.

Existing System

As per survey currently there e$ists no system at cheaper rates. Various

systems are hard to install, difficult to use and maintain. Current systemsare generally proprietary and closed, not very customiza!le !y the end

user.

Proposed System

his pro&ect is a fine com!ination of Android mo!ile technology and

em!edded system. An application should !e installed on android mo!ile

handset to control various home appliances. 'ser can send commands

using that application. ireless controlling techni"ue used in this pro&ect is

luetooth technology. his pro&ect consists of a luetooth receiver. his

luetooth device is connected to the circuit which has a decoder. his

decoder sends code for respective command sent !y user. hen the

respective device connected to the circuit will !e turned on or off depending

on the command given.

Applications & Advantages

*. Home automation + his pro&ect can !e used to control various Home

Appliances

. e can control device from a long distance, thus it gives ease of access.
