Como todos sabemos el hombre ha tenido siempre una posición dominante en lamayoría de las sociedades a lo largo de la historia.

Seguimos reflexionando sobre todo esto y tras las comparaciones vistas en el tema 2ahora vamos a aprender a expresar de forma sencilla estas ideas u otras similares queaparecen en las frases ejemplo. Son frases en las que decimos que alguien tiene una"cualidad" en la que destaca sobre los demás: EL SUPERLATIVO.

¿Tienes curiosidad por ver como se dirían las frases anteriores en inglés? Piensa unpoco como podría ser la frase.....por ejemplo, la primera:

El hombre: Man / era:was / el:the / más:........./ fuerte: ........ ¿no sabrías qué poneren los dos espacios en blanco? No te preocupes, lo vamos a ver con detenimiento. Porahora pincha en el botón y comprueba como serían estas frases en modoSUPERLATIVO.

1. El Superlativo.

El superlativo

Veamos cómo se forman los SUPERLATIVOS en inglés:

1. Normalmente usamos el sufijo "-EST" añadido al adjetivo para expresarlo enforma superlativa (en español usamos normalmente la palabra "más" delante deladjetivo, por lo que esto es distinto entre ambos idiomas).

2. El artículo "the" se utiliza delante de la expresión del adjetivo construido enforma superlativa. (esto es igual que español:"el/la/los/las")

PERO NO SIEMPRE ESTO ES ASÍ, TENEMOS QUE CONSIDERAR LAS CARACTERÍSTICASDEL ADJETIVO EN CUANTO AL "TAMAÑO" DE ESTE, OBSERVA LA TABLA:

3. Expresar una opinión.

En este apartado vamos trabajar esta competencia. En primer lugar vamos a ver un caso real de unahablante nativa que expresa su opinón en relación con un tema de actualidad. Lo primero, por tantoes ver cómo lo hace un hablante nativo, así que lee su discurso:

Description: We need to be supportive, not admonishing, Carter says.

Transcript: I think, we need to be realistic with ourselves. And we need to be supportive, you know,of developing countries, so they can do that. Like, I don’t blame them for looking dead at America,and everybody else is saying, “Excuse me? You had the right to pollute all your lives and, suddenly,you’re saying, no, we can’t?” No. But we do need to be really supportive of them, so that they’renot making the same foolish mistakes that we made. So I think that that’s really going to be theway out of it.

Vamos a analizar el texto de la transcripción, veamos que podemos aprender de él:

1. Comienza con la expresión "I think..." (creo, opino..) --> Lo más usual cuandovamos a incorporar una opinión a nuestro discurso (hablado o escrito).

2. Observa que utiliza el sujeto "We" en las oraciones en las que expresa unaopinión indicando que lo que dice es compartido por otros muchos, estamosgeneralizando.

3. Cambia a primera persona "I" cuando va a incorporar una opinión muypersonal.

4. Utiliza un lenguaje coloquial "I don't blame them for looking dead at America"

5. Reproduce lenguaje real en "Estilo Directo" (rasgo coloquial).

6. Usa el verbo modal "need" con un sentido muy cercano a "must/have to"(¿recuerdas el bloque anterior?), pero prefiere usar el primero (need =necesitamos) en vez de estos últimos, ya que nos está ofreciendo su opinión

Es posible que tengas dudas en cuanto a cómo traducir algunas frases que utilizaCarter, escribe la traducción, usando el diccionario si es necesario, de las siguientesfrases:

Para expresar nuestras opiniones , desacuerdos y/o dar explicaciones de lo quepensamos vamos en primer lugar a organizar las expresiones en función de lo quequeremos expresar.

In 1840 , Queen Victoria is on the throne ofEngland. She is head of the world's most powerfulnation, her image and her influence is everywherein the world.

But closer to home the influence of ordinarywomen over their own world was more limited.Let's see some details:

Marriage : Women could not get a civildivorce. In 1857 , a new law introducedthe possibility of it. This law also allowedwomen to retain their earnings at work,giving them the control over their ownincome. They had to wait until 1939 with anew law that allowed them to ask for thecustody of children after separation.

Study and work : It was almostimpossible for women to study at universityor get a job after it. They had to wait until1874 , when they founded "The London School of Medicine for Women"

for the medical education of women. Then, in 1878 , London University wasthe first to give women degrees on the same terms as men.

Vote: At this time women didn't have the right to vote. In 1893 , NewZealand was the first country in the world to have universal suffrage. Theconcept of a New Woman and "the feminist movement" appears. In 1928 ,British women finally got voting rights.
