STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT
In the Gospel today, Peter yearns to do something to make concrete the Transfiguration he had witnessed. But to be a good steward of this spiritual gift, he was instructed to be still, to listen to Jesus, and to wait for His direction. Good advice for us, too!

FISCAL YEAR JULY 2017 TO JUNE 2018
ANOINTING OF THE SICK
Next weekend, August 12/13, we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at all masses. Like all sacraments, we celebrate this sacred anointing as a community of faith. The prayer and laying on of hands by the priest and the faith and fellowship of the community of believers on behalf of those who are ill, come together as a channel of God's love and power to heal and alleviate suffering of body, mind and spirit. If you, or a family member or friend are seriously ill, anticipating serious surgery or experiencing a weakened condition due to older age, we invite you to come forward to experience the graces of this sacrament to strengthen and uphold us times of sickness and need.

AUGUST 6, 2017
From today’s Gospel reading: ...from the cloud came a voice that said, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; Listen to him.’
Reflection: We must do our best to listen to Jesus, not only to his words, but his actions as well, for both reveal Jesus’ heart. They tell us about God’s forgiveness, compassion and unfaltering love for us. As we listen closely we also hear Jesus tell us that what has been done for us, we must do for others.
So we ask ourselves: - What efforts do I make to listen to Jesus? - What am I hearing these days and how do I plan to respond?

PASTORAL ASSISTANT FOR FAITH FORMATION (40 HOURS)
Holy Trinity Parish seeks an energetic, organized, collaborative person to serve as Pastoral Assistant for Faith Formation and Sacramental Preparation for pre-school through junior high students and the RCIA process. The successful candidate will be an active, practicing Catholic in good standing in the Church; undergraduate or graduate degree in theology or related field; recent successful experience in catechesis; demonstrated ability to recruit, train and supervise volunteers; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work nights and weekends. Spanish speaking is desirable. Hourly wage consistent with archdiocesan guidelines, education and experience.

CATECHISTS AND ASSISTANTS NEEDED
Two questions that we might ask ourselves are, “What difference can I make in my parish family?” or “What gifts do I have to give?” One ministry that you can become involved in is helping our children to know and love our Lord as a catechist or an aide. Our Faith Formation programs depend on the generosity of parishioners who want to share the Good News of Jesus with others and help make a difference in their lives. You do not need a degree in theology or have all the answers to help them learn about God. Catechists are first and foremost a model for young learners of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. By agreeing to be a catechist, you answer God’s call to share your faith with others, while growing in your own faith life as well. We want to invite you into this golden opportunity to become an important part of the life of our parish’s children as you step forward and say, “HERE I AM LORD. I COME TO DO YOUR WILL!” If you feel called to this ministry, we need you to fill some vacant spots in our grade school and junior high programs in the upcoming year. Please call the parish office at (360)377-7674. We would be pleased to talk with you about the possibilities! May God bless you!
