STEWARDSHIP THOUGHT

The words of the psalmist echo the theme of all of today’s readings. “Blessed are they who hope in the Lord.” As good stewards, firmly grounded in that hope, may we bear fruit in due season — assisting the poor, feeding the hungry and consoling the sorrowful whenever we have the chance. See Psalm 1

CONSECRATION TO BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Please sign up to make your Consecration to the Blessed Virgin Mary. At Fatima and many times before and since then, God has asked all of us to do this through the words of Blessed Mother who was sent by God. She has said that world peace, and the triumph of her Immaculate Heart will not happen, until enough people make this Consecration. You do this at home. Sign up after all masses this weekend. Books are free. Instructions will be given at sign ups in the Social Hall. Please call Bobbie Price (314)308-8112.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

Next weekend, February 23/24, we will celebrate the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick at all masses. If you, a family member or friend are seriously ill, anticipating serious surgery or experiencing a weakened condition due to older age, we invite you to come forward to experience the graces of this sacrament to strengthen and uphold us.

FEBRUARY 17, 2019

From today’s Gospel reading: Jesus said, "Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours.”

Reflection: As Jesus announced, the blessings of the kingdom are already present to his disciples – but not fully. Thus, his Beatitudes stir up hope and form our way of thinking and acting as we wait for the fullness of God’s reign. We persevere in our struggles to live as members of God’s community and we pay special attention to those in need, those Jesus has called “blessed”.

So, we ask ourselves: -What norms do I use to measure “success” in life? -How would those norms measure up to the Beatitudes? Or, are they among the "woes" Jesus rejects?

BABY BOTTLE DRIVE

The Social Justice Commission will be collecting baby bottles through February. You may place your bottles in the collection baskets or drop them in the Social Hall after mass, February 16, 17, 23 and 24. Any amount helps either cash or check (made payable to Pregnancy Resource Services). Please return your bottles as soon as possible. Any unreturned bottles reduce the amount of our donation by $3 per bottle.

Eternal Father, we praise you for sending your Son

We ask this gift, loving Father, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
