Sincere gratitude ……..
A profound appreciation is extended to all who gave from the heart to the
collection for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Our parish
contribution to this special collection requested by the Archbishop
amounted to over $8,200.
On behalf of Archbishop Wenski and the priests of Holy Rosary - St. Richard
parish, thank you for your prayers, support, and concern for the people of
Texas. You are caring and generous people.
Thank you!
2nd Collection Next Weekend To help defray hurricane clean
up costs Opportunity to make up weekly
offering of September 9-10
Thank you for your generosity
December 25, 2016 Gloria In Excelsis Deo September 17, 2017 Twenty Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Dear Parishioners,
The devastating effects of Hurricane Irma have taken a toll on all of us. As
many know so well, previous storms have created far more damage but,
nevertheless, the early prediction of the recent hurricane brought with it fear,
anxiety and emotional distress. Praise God, it is now behind us.
Be assured that during the days leading up to the hurricane, your priests,
Father Daniel, and Father Richard, and I, kept you in our thoughts and prayed
for your safety. As both the Governor of the State of Florida and the Mayor of
Miami repeated frequently during their press briefings: “We can rebuild your
homes, but we cannot rebuild you.” We thank God for answering our prayers,
and we thank you for heeding the warning to keep yourself and your family safe.
Hurricane recovery is taking place and a sense of order is gradually
replacing the turmoil of the last week. Slowly but surely, we are returning to the
security and routine of daily life. Electrical power is being restored, businesses
are reopening, and gas lines are diminishing. Hopefully, a normal way of life will
come soon. We will get through this.
Our parish buildings endured the storm very well. There was no damage
either to the church or to our parish school. There are a couple of roof and
window leaks here and there but nothing that cannot be repaired easily.
However, we lost several trees, uprooted by the winds of the storm. Other
damage to plants and landscaping on the church property was incurred as well.
Next weekend, there will be a second collection to help defray the cost of
restoring the property to its pre-hurricane condition. This collection will also be
an opportunity for parishioners to make up the weekly offering that was not
collected due to the closing of church last weekend. I know I can count on your
generosity.
Once again, we are grateful to the Lord for his goodness to us and for His
Divine Providence in keeping us free from harm during Hurricane Irma. May
he give all of us at Holy Rosary - St. Richard Church and School a renewed
spirit, the faith to continue to build up His kingdom here on earth, and the grace
and strength to serve Him as we serve one another in our beloved parish
community.

MY OFFERINGS: ACTIVE PARISHIONER STATUS
We receive many requests from parishioners to qualify for wed-dings or to be godparents or sponsors for the
Sacraments of Baptism and/or Confirmation, and to rightfully enjoy the number of services offered at the Church.
Part of that request is to be able to verify that a person is an “active member” of the Parish.
Because of the nature of our parish, having so many visitors from other parishes, it is difficult to know everyone.
AN “ACTIVE MEMBER” OF THIS PARISH IS ONE WHO...
Is properly registered and on the parish census
Faithfully attends Mass on Sundays and Holy Days
Participates in parish activities when possible
Uses the parish envelope system
While assessments of an inquirer’s status will be made individually, the above are the main factors that will be
considered in making that determination.

“For if we live, we live for the Lord, and if we die, we die for the Lord; so then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s” - ROMANS 14:8
This is the essence of stewardship – everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God. We aren’t “owners” of anything, we are merely “stewards” of the gifts that God has given us, especially our very own lives. Pray to God daily for His guidance and ask Him how He wants you to use the gifts He has given you.
