As a ministry of the Word, Deacons proclaim the Gospel during Mass and through their lives. As a ministry of Sacrament, Deacons assist at Mass and preside at baptisms, weddings, funerals and wake services depending on the needs of the parish. And as a ministry of Service, deacons carry out all manner of works of charity from visiting the sick, caring for the poor, and participating in prison ministry among many other Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. There are currently five Deacon Candidates discerning a call to the Permanent Diaco- nate who are in their second year of formation – please pray for them. The next group of men will gather for the first year of for- mation (called the Aspirancy year) in 2021-2022. Amen St John Paul II Camp: It is with a heavy heart that we inform you that St. John Paul II Camp has been canceled for this year. Many conversations were had over the past couple months regarding summer ministry, and canceling this camp was not taken lightly. St. John Paul II is a priority to the diocese and will return in the summer of 2021. If you have registered your child for camp a refund will be issued to you in the upcoming weeks. Please continue to follow the Diocese of Crookston and Holy Rosary on all social media for updates regarding ministry. Dear God, Thank you for your endless provisions of grace and mercy. We come to you today to liſt up every woman who answers to the name of mom.We ask that you supply each one with the strength they need for those difficult days. Give them wisdom to know when to encourage and when to correct their children. Supply them with an extra dose of paence. Remind them that children are a heritage and a reward from You ( Psalm 127:3 CSB), and shower them with special moments they can cherish. Lord, we also ask that you draw them close to you daily. Remind them of their worth in Your eyes - that they, too, are cherished children of a loving Father. We pray for contentment in this very special calling. May every mom realize that this is a mission from You, one that brings truly great rewards in the end. Amen NOTES FROM MONSIGNOR TIM: ADDITIONAL PARISH CHANGES FOR THE COMING YEAR: Last week Bishop Hoeppner announced that Father Chuck Huck will become the pastor here at Holy Rosary on July 1. Presently Father Huck is pastor of St. Phillip s Parish in Bemidji and St. Charles Parish at Pennington. I know that you will warmly welcome him to Holy Rosary. The Bishop also announced that Father Michael Arey will become the Parochial Vicar (Associate Pastor) of St. Phillip s Parish in Bemidji, St. Marys at Red Lake, Sacred Heart at Wilton and St. Charles at Pennington effective July 1. Also, Barbara Schmidt has announced that she will retire from parish ministry effective July 1. Barbara joined the Parish Staff in 2001 and has guided the Middle School and High School Religious Formation Program and the Confirmation Program. Barbara now completes thirty-six years of ministry here in the Diocese of Crookston. We thank her for her minis- try among us and wish her many happy years of retirement. As I announced I will retire the end of June and will move home to Grand Forks. Retired priests never really fully retire as they often are out in parishes on the weekends giving other priests a break in their ministry. I am looking forward to retire- ment but will miss parish ministry. THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION: Just a reminder that the Sacrament of Reconciliation is celebrated on Saturday afternoons from 4:00 to 4:45 P.M. Because of the need for Social Distancing we will celebrate the Sacrament in the Parish Living Room. We hope it wont be too long before we can gather in church for Mass. OUR FACEBOOK PAGE: You are invited to go to HOLY ROSARY CHURCH DL and LIKEthe page and you will be able to hopefully get the Sunday Mass and all other events streamed on Facebook. Also, there are daily meditations for Monday through Friday each week. These meditations will be presented by the priests of our parish. We hope that you will like them and hope they will be something to enhance your daily prayer time. THE DIOCESAN ANNUAL APPEAL: We continue to receive your gifts for this years Diocesan Annual Appeal. If you have not given your gift for the appeal, you may still do so. Thanks for your continued support of the Appeal and helping us reach our goal of $64,823. PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR STEWARDSHIP TO THE PARISH. The work of the parish still goes on even in the midst of a ravishing virus. We depend on your financial stewardship to the parish. Mention was made of the Parish APP above—you can take advantage of the Parish APP in making your gift to the Sunday offertory. Please contact the parish office for more information. Thanks for your continued generosity! THE PARISH EXTENDS ITS SYMPATHY to the family of Lavon J. BonnieNielsen who passed away last Sunday. A private family comital service was held on Friday in Holy Rosary Cemetery. May she rest in the peace of Christ! TODAY IS MOTHERS DAY and we wish all Mothers a most blest day. In a special way we remember our moms who have gone home to God and remember their goodness to us as well! Holy God, you compare your own love for your people to the love of a mother for her children. Look with kindness on our mothers, give them comfort in moments of sorrow, and joy in their work for their families. Listen to their prayers and bless them in all they do for you. Let them share with Jesús your Son and Mary our mother in the everlasting happiness of heaven. We ask this grace through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“The stone which the builders

rejected has become the

cornerstone.” (1 Peter 2:7)

Every person has been given gifts from the Holy Spirit. These are

called “charisms” and they are used to build God’s kingdom on earth. While many people are able to

recognize their natural talents and abilities, they may be unsure of

their charisms. If you know someone who is struggling for a direction in life, give them a little

encouragement. Help them discern their charisms and how God is

calling them to use them. Remember - no gift

is too small or insignificant in God’s salvation plan.

Faith formation news

School news Sunday’s Gospel...John 14: 1–12 Jesus said to his disciples; ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in

my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. How are you feeling when you read the Gospel? Do you, like the disciples, come with a troubled heart, anxious about current events, concerned for family and friends? Take time to become still, at peace in God’s presence. Read the rest of the text slowly. Perhaps, like Thomas and Philip, you have questions? What do you want to say to Jesus? Look again at the text; where are you most drawn to ponder at this point in your life? Speak to Jesus, remembering his words,‘ Trust in God now, and trust in me’. End your prayer, asking for whatever grace I need.

We are beginning our fourth summer of Fatima Rosary Rallies here in Detroit Lakes. The first

one for this year will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 11:30 am in the Detroit Lakes City Park. We are held in the shelter area across from the bandshell. The first session we will be praying for America. In light of the corona virus and to follow 6-foot distanc-ing, please bring a chair & face mask. Our country and the whole world needs our prayers during our trying times. If you have any questions, please call Marilyn Windschitl at 218-850-6541.

WE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR ALL OF YOU and miss you at our weekend and school liturgies. Our church is beautiful, yet feels empty. It is unlocked (welcoming center) during the day and you are welcome to come and pray if you are comfortable. Our tapings are going well and we are so thankful for the technology that allows us to stay in contact and bring the liturgy and daily reflections to you. We are doing everything that is possible with-out violating any orders that are placed upon us and be assured that we will be ready to move to the next phase when it happens. Thank you for your patience!

A word to our graduates: We aren’t going to let COVID-19 ruin the recognition you deserve! Please know we are beaming while thinking about all you have done and are proud of you! Trust in the LORD with all you heart, and do not

rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your

ways, and He will guide you on the right paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6)
