THE WEEK AHEAD IN THE PARISH
The Parish Office will be closed Thursday, April 18th through Monday, April 22nd.
The office will reopen on Tuesday, April 23rd at 9:00am.
THE DRYING OUT
Our Liturgy today reminds us of that special day when Our Lord entered triumphantly into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. The people cut branches from the trees to lay on the path over which Jesus rode. Some of those branches were Palm Branches; hence today’s name and entrance celebrations. If you notice, the palm branches or palm fronds are very soft and supple when they are fresh. But very soon after being cut, they begin to dry out. They become stiff, hard, and they even can pierce the skin if we are not careful. Afterwards they become fuel for the fire, and the remaining ash is used for the people on Ash Wednesday. They have a noble and beautiful beginning but a fiery end. I think it behooves us to take special care of our souls, our spiritual life. Otherwise, like the palms, they will dry out becoming hard and sere. Our soul will be in danger of being thrown into the fire. And we progress from giving praise to Our Lord to going into everlasting separation from Him. Use this remaining week of Lent to allow Christ to soften our heart and make it fresh and supple again.
Fr. Scordo, O.P.

Happy Palm Sunday, and welcome to the beginning of Holy Week 2019! In planning the music for Holy Week 2019, the Music Ministry of Holy Innocents searched for fitting selections for the themes and moods of each of the holy days. It is our intention that the music accompany and enhance the messages of each liturgy of the Triduum. We always utilize the Breaking Bread hymnal first, but there exists beautiful music by a variety of composers in other resources that we think provides an interesting reflection on the celebration of each day’s service for our parish. When a selection is not in the hymnal, we review before Mass, and our cantors recite the refrains first, so you can fully join in the singing. We invite and encourage you to attend each of these beautiful and moving services and want you to know that your participation in the music of each liturgy is important to us. It is our sincere hope that all who gather with us over these special days find the music we have chosen and prepared prayerful, and an integral part of the celebrations of Triduum. As always, we encourage and welcome your participation! May you all have a Blessed Easter!
Wednesday, May 22nd from 2:00pm - 8:00 pm.
Our parishioner James Bathon, with the support of Holy Innocents Parish, will be hosting a Blood Drive
