ROSARY is prayed 20 minutes before Mass on Mon., Tues., & Fri. Come & pray & stay for Mass.

INVITE SOMEONE BACK TO CHURCH!!

DEAR PARISHIONERS: This is my annual vacation col-umn about Mass & our faith. So, please keep reading! One of the great highlights of a person’s or family’s year is vacation. We all have wonderful memories of going on a vacation with family & friends---going to the amusement park, flying on an airplane, walking along the ocean shore, visiting our parents or siblings. It is a time to relax, have fun, sightsee, & eat good food. But, as I have said before many times, there is…... NEVER A VACATION FROM THE LORD OR FROM THE EUCHARIST! Never are we to take time away from the Lord. Never are we to get way from the “work” of our faith. Just the opposite. We are to relax & be with the Lord! And the main way we do that is by attending & celebrating Mass, tak-ing that special time to be with the Lord Jesus---hearing His Word, dining upon His Body & His Blood, & savor-ing His Presence. The Eucharist can bring us the refresh-ment we need in our spiritual lives. Doing that can bring back wonderful memories. Doing that can be fun & cause us to celebrate. Doing that is a way to see the light of Jesus Christ. Doing that will enable us to dine upon the richest of all foods. May each of us check our schedules to see if we have scheduled time with the Lord, never away from the Lord. One final reminder---if you go on vacation, there are probably Catholic churches available close by. Call ahead & plan Mass time, just like you call ahead & plan other events. Or go online to see what masses are avail-able for you----www.MassTimes.org. See you in church! YOUR PASTOR, FATHER JOE P.S. Please pray for those who have fallen away from the Church or don’t celebrate the Eucharist. May our prayers move them to come back & join us for Mass at Holy Family.

PRAY FOR OUR SICK Florene Alcorn, Laura Allen, Claire Behme, Kirk Beyers, Dave Bowman, Tyler Brown, Paul Coffey, Joe Despres, Bernie Drake, Donna French, Sharon Gregory, Jerry Groves, Pat Hamilton, Rick Harmon, Eric Hill, Judy Ho-gan, Sharon Holeman, Kathy Kirby, Cathy Mathias, Jim Murray, Karen Ohl, Gretchen Peters-Hantel, Patricia Perry, Janet Pope, Helen Porter, Loralai Riley, Terri Schram, Annette Schroeder, Fr. 4 YEAR OLD PRESCHOOL OPENING: HFCS is seeking a 3rd dynamic teacher to further add to our excel-lent program. The position we are seeking is for a PreK, four-year-old classroom with program hours being Mon-day-Friday, 8-11:15 a.m. The classroom is also staffed with a teaching assistant. The teacher will work collabo-ratively with the HF Team to provide a faith-based devel-opmentally appropriate classroom environment favorable to learning & the personal growth of each child & family. A teaching certificate and/or early childhood experience is required. If interested, please contact 217-423-7049.

ATTENTION--MASS TIME CHANGE Masses on Sundays at Holy Family will be at 8:00 & 10:00 a.m. With Fr. Joe not having Masses at Mt. Zion as of July 1st, Masses on Sundays will be at the times they were before he began his ministry at OLHS. The Pastoral Council discussed this matter & it was decided to return to the times of 8 & 10. ALSO---please note that we will now have Mass on Wednesday mornings HERE at 7:30 a.m., preceded by the rosary at 7:10, beginning on July 6th.

F.Y.I.—Fr. Braden Maher has begun his new assignment in Spfld. His address is: 524 E. Lawrence Ave., Spfld., 62703. He would enjoy hearing from you.

ORGAN DEDICATION This Saturday, July 16th, the organ in church was dedicated to Tom Cantwell, our former Music Director, from 1997-2015. Tom ministered to all of us with his time & talent, helping us to give praise to God through song. He led the Adult Choir for many years with mastery, having them sing at the Vatican! We miss him & always will. May he continue to sing with the angels in heaven. Each time we look at the organ & hear it played, may we think of Tom & “sing” a prayer.

CONGRATULATIONS to Braxton Gabriel & Heidi Wirey, winners of $500 & $300, respectively, in the St. Teresa Mega Raffle drawing for people who sold tickets for Holy Family. Thanks to them & all those who sold & bought tickets which benefited St. Teresa & Holy Family. Thanks to Mike Lees for chairing this for us once again!

YEAR OF MERCY REFLECTION FOR July 16/17

I am amazed by this story! Abraham, sitting at this door-way under a tree, sees three strangers approach. He runs to greet them. He sees to the bathing of their tired dusty feet. He sits them down under his tree. He feeds them. They engage in conversation. The story is a little ambiguous, but Abraham comes to know them as someone(s) divine. He responds with lavish hospitality. Perhaps my mercy work this week is wrestling with these disciple-ship questions:

• How will I greet and treat strangers?

• How can I, who can I literally bathe or “bathe” with

kindness?

• Who will I feed dinner?
