The Chancery has put out a request to the Ukrainian Catholic
parishes in Winnipeg. They are looking for volunteers to
help with the possible need to sandbag the Chancery
property at 233 Scotia St. The river has been rising
rapidly this week and may need to be protected. If you
can help, please contact the Chancery at 338-7801. Please leave
your name, phone number and email address.
Annual General Meeting will be held Wednesday, May 4,
2011 at 7:00 pm. Council and various committee members are
reminded that AGM reports are now due in the office. Thank
you to those of you who have kindly submitted your reports.
This Friday, April 15th will be the last Lenten supper. Come
and enjoy this Lenten meatless meal at 5:30 pm, and stay
and pray together at the service to follow.

She left her bad ways and went to live in the desert. There, she spent
the remainder of her life in prayer and fasting and repenting of her past
deeds. She shows us in her life that we must be truly sorry for our sins
if we wish to return to life with God.
The Fifth Sunday of Lent is dedicated to St. Mary of Egypt, a young woman
who lived a very sinful life, but repented sincerely and changed her way of life.

Jesus Raises Lazarus
Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, had died. Jesus and his disciples arrived several days after his death. What special words did Jesus use to raise Lazarus from the dead? Colour in

Winnipeg Mandolin Orchestra and Ukrainian Festival Choir will
perform TODAY at 2:30 pm St. George‟s Anglican Church, Grosvenor
& Wilton. Tickets adults $12, students 18 & under $5.
Winnipeg and Lviv Youth Art Exhibition - Wednesday , April 13 at
4:00 pm at Winnipeg City Hall, 2nd floor. Some 60 pieces of art from
Lviv and Winnipeg will be on display. The art exhibition will be opened
officially by Paula Havixbeck, Acting Deputy Mayor. A short program

National Catholic Mission 2011, “The Heart of the Matter,” will
broadcast on VISIONTV on Monday, April 18 (Pt.1) 7 Tuesday, April
19 (Pt.2) at 6:00 pm and repeated at 9:00 pm. It will feature Fr. Jack
Lynch, s. f. m., Father Donald Senior, C.P. and Sister Melanie Svoboda,
SND. Fr. Senior will talk about the challenge of reconciliation in our
families, our Church, and in our world.
Campaign Life Coalition is holding a Fundraising Banquet at the
Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue, Saturday on April 30, cocktails at
5:30 pm (cash bar) and dinner at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $30.00 per person,
but consider becoming a table sponsor by buying a table of eight for your
friends and family. Guest speaker: John-Henry Westen, co-founder and

The 13th Annual Walk for Mary will be held on Sunday, May 19 at

Canon Luhovy Assembly Fundraising Dinner - May 19 at the Holy
Eucharist Parish Centre. Funds raised support the Welcome Home
building and renovation project. Tickets are $60 with a $25 tax receipt.

much appreciated for this fundraising event.

Parish Easter Dinner Sunday, May 1, 2011
following the 10:00 am Divine Liturgy.
All parishioners are invited to attend. Come and celebrate the
Resurrection of Our Lord together as a parish community!
Advance ticket prices are adults $12.00,
children 5-12 $8.00 and children under 4 free. Tickets available
between liturgies in the hall or during regular office hours.
Tickets will be $15.00 each at the door.
Choir News
All choir members (9am and 11am) planning to participate in the Holy
Week or Easter services are asked to attend the following rehearsals:
Tuesday April 12 - 6:30 pm (please note time change)
Saturday April 16 - 11:00 am (following Sorokousty)
Tuesday April 19 - 7:00 pm
Parts of some services have been modified, so it is important to prepare.
Many thanks to those who have attended the previous rehearsals.
Dome Repair - Donations to date total $23,211. This is a good start,
about 38% of our goal of $60,000. Every parish family has been called
upon to help with these necessary expenses, and contribute according to
your means. Thank you to all parishioners who have already responded,
and given so generously.
Parishioners who have not yet offered their contribution
may do so through the Sunday collection, by mail, or
through pre-authorized electronic giving (please contact
the parish office). If preferred, a series of post-dated
instalment cheques may also be given, rather than a single
lump-sum donation.

By their Holy Baptism all Christians participate in the Royal priesthood
of Jesus Christ. Through the laying on of hands certain members of the
Body of Christ are called by the Church to serve the Christian community
in ordained ministry as deacons, priests and bishops. This session will
examine the development and current status of ordained ministry within
the Ukrainian Catholic Church today, and how they carry on Christ‟s role
as teacher, sanctifier and shepherd.

Perogy Supper update…
We are grateful for the overwhelming attendance at our Perogy Supper on
April 1st. Thank you to all our wonderful volunteers. A special “thank
you” to our young parishioners, Andrew and Sophia Obirek who gave up
their Spring Break to help us on Wednesday and to Stefan and Anna
Schaible Schur who helped with clean up on Friday.
Proceeds from the supper were $4088.72. We look forward to your
continued support in September.
HELP IS NEEDED (many hands make light work): - on Holy Thursday following the evening service to set up the tomb.
- on Holy Saturday at 3:00 pm to set up the church for Easter Sunday.
The church will be open through the night on Great & Holy Friday for private
prayer and vigil before the Holy Shroud. All parishioners are
encouraged to participate, so that the holy body of Our Lord is
accompanied throughout the vigil. This time during the vigil can be dedicated to silent prayer, the
Rosary, chanting of the Psalms, songs or Scripture reading.
Please sign the sheet in the narthex if you wish to participate.

Pysanky/Easter Egg Workshop: The Parent Ed.
Group invites all the youth of our parish to come
out on Saturday, March 16 from 12:30 to 3:30 pm
and participate in learning how to make a
traditional Ukrainian Easter Egg. The eggs, wax
and dyes will be provided. If you have your own
writing instrument (kistka) please bring it. Parents
are welcome to stay, provide encouragement and help their younger
children. These pysanky will make a fine addition to the young
people‟s own Easter baskets. It‟s lots of fun too. See you there!
