HOLY FAMILY CHURCH 2017-18 STEWARDSHIP REPORT A NOTE FROM FR. MIKE… Dear Parish Family, As you read and reϐlect on our parish family’s 2017-2018 stewardship report, I pray you continue to grow in your desire to be an active disciple of Jesus, living the joy of the Gospel. I am grateful to each one of you for being a faithful steward of God’s gifts in your life. Our church community is a welcoming and caring family. We reach out to those in need and our Good Neighbor Project is an example of our making a difference in the lives of those less fortunate. Many of us at Holy Family are part of various faith-sharing groups like Bible studies, prayer groups, retreats, Cursillo, etc. Worshiping God at Mass, adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, daily devotions and prayers enrich our lives so that we can serve God in others. May God continue to bless us as we deepen our love for Him and one another. Gratefully in Christ - Fr. • The past year has given us a new Bishop, one from a Stewardship background personally, and his priestly life. I am excited to consider the possibility of our parish growing even more as God's Stewards under his leadership. I know many of you don't think about all the stewardship growth in our Parish but from my viewpoint I have seen lives changed completely through prayer and study, involvement in parish activities, and generous use of our individual resources for the benefit of others. As we grow into our stewardship way of life we start to just know when we need to give time to God, our friends, family and community and even when to open up our wallet and just give. It becomes our nature, who we are, everyday. We become a passionate loving people eager to do God's work, always listening to our call. As you review the status of our parish in this newsletter I hope you see yourself, but if you don't, make a plan to open up and participate. I want to thank all those who have served in our parish and continue to seek new opportunities to fulfill their need to give. In 2019, we will offer a new Parish Pictorial Directory, we are making plans for a Parish Mission during Lent and we will continue to see Seasons of Hope ministry grow in our community. As you hear about new things happening I invite you to get involved. Blessings, DeAnne Wickens, Stewardship Director

Holy Family School faculty and staff moves along and keeps flexible using the saying "the only constant is change" as we begin a new school year - 2018-2019. Each story about individuals who left Holy Family School last Spring is about making new decisions for their own personal goals. Remembering Mrs. Belinda Failor's 32 years of secretarial service, Mrs. Rochelle Neuman's 11 years of driving back and forth from Quincy and having 2 babies while serving HFS in middle school, Mr. Mark Hedges, custodian for 4 years and ready to spend time with his wife Gail, who was already retired, ...and so life goes on with the gifts of new folks taking on their positions this new school year. We have been blessed by the service of these special people to Holy Family School. All positions were filled with parishioners who take pride in serving our parish school: Ms. Stevie Lee, secretary, Mrs. Karen Wetton - middle school teacher, and Mr. Jamie Hoover, our custodian. Speaking of “ stewardship,” I want to thank Mrs. Sara Hooley who was the teacher liaison to the Parish Stewardship Committee and welcome Mrs. Patti Babyak who is

beginning her two year liaison role between school and Stewardship Committee. We encourage our families to be active participants in their parish and school through the various activities that brings life into our parish community. We graduated 22 eighth graders last May and have 25 enrolled this year!! We are proud that 6 of the 22 graduates have pursued their High School education at Quincy Notre Dame this year. The feedback we receive from both schools (public and private) is that our graduates often excel in High School, are very prepared and take on positive leadership roles. This is very praise worthy feedback of our teaching staff and the dedication from their parents to do their best. Our teachers continue to engage in the latest technology. Last year with a $10,000.00 matching grant we were able to buy 4 interactive flat panels for our classrooms. Each teacher has access to a SmartBoard in their classroom. The age of technology keeps us in competition with latest educational research that changes so quickly. We continue to keep up by using our annual Action Funds to address the educational edge that our students know so much more about than our parents and grandparents. We will continue to assess our teaching with resources that keep us preparing our students for the latest strategies and skills. I know this is a new era for our students and the future will not stand still. Our student population is staying steady at 175. I am grateful that we could welcome 20 new families this year. The comings and goings of our student population is both a blessing and a “heart-felt” tug. We hate to see our families leave due to changes in their lives: graduation to High School, moving out of Hannibal, changes in family needs. We love our family of intention and pray for another successful school year. So many blessings due to our Parish mission: having a Catholic School for its parish children. God bless the work of our hands & hearts. Thank you for the gift. Sincerely, Sister Betty Uchytil SSND, Principal
