“We are called to love and serve our community”
issue #019
The students were treated to a visit by Clarke Jaman who is a former graduate of HFA and SJC. Clarke popped in to share his love of Jesus with the kids. He discussed the different ways we can talk to Jesus and one way is through song. The kids joyfully danced and sang their hearts out as they expressed their love for Jesus. They had a fantastic time!
Mrs. Boyd’s Grade twos just got back from the Long Term care center where we did a Leprechaun readers theatre/poem. As a group we also did three different Irish blessings. The stu-dents made leprechaun cards with an Irish blessing inside and went around delivering them to the seniors and reading their blessings to them.
God Bless!Lorraine Spence & Mike Fleck

We welcome students and staff to
wear blue on April 7,
to “Light it Up Blue” for autism on this date!
Why blue? The answer is that Autism Spectrum Disorders are almost 5 times more common
among boys (1 in 54) than among girls (1 in 252). So, the color blue represents the boys
diagnosed with autism.

Serving in the MinistriesOn Saturday, March 12th
the Grade 2s served in the ministries at St. Mary’s Parish’s Saturday Mass.
An introduction to the ministries - students and staff were involved in the
choir, as Greeters, Lectors, and Altar Servers at Family and School Masses.
As a member of St. Mary’s Parish, I find myself getting more and more involved in a variety of ministries.
I am thrilled to see our students and our staff members get the opportunity to ex-
perience the Liturgy and Mass at a different level.
I pray that this experience will lead our students to continue in the ministries and
lead their families to join in as well.Lorraine Spence

Good Works Miss Ledger’s Grade twos have been working on reading Kid Presi-dent’s Guide to Being Awesome and working on implementing things at home and at school to make the world more ‘awesome’. One that we have been talking a lot about is putting your phone (or electronic) down and spending time with other people. To go along with this we have been learning how to play basic card games like crazy eights and old maid and working on cooperation and team work.
Prayers and Blessings go out to our students who were Baptised during the Easter weekend

You can learn how to be a family detective andhave fun discovering your ancestors and gatheringfamily stories through our new series. If you arecurious, like to ask questions, are a good listener, pay attention to details, and have patience, youcan start building your family tree.
Children love to learn about the world they live in and the family they belong to. Helpful ways to teach children about their current and extendedfamily, living and those who have passed away, areby gathering photos, letters, newspaper clippings, artifacts and more that tell an ancestor’s story.
Do you have the makings of a great family detective?
