Good People of Holy Cross,
0% interest, no payments till January 2022 states the radio announcer then a low volume voice rattled off the conditions—“minimum down payment of $5000, subject to credit approval, limited time offer, limited to specially marked vehicles only, offer not valid in some states.” Ah, fine print! Jesus did not want any fine print, fast talking, or bonus offers to sweeten the deal for would-be disciples. Jesus’ kingdom would not be founded on sales techniques, performance bonuses, and commissions. Jesus is like the Marines; he would rather just have “a few good men and women” than a crowd of fickle followers who wilt at the first sign of trouble or sacrifice. No one ever accused Jesus of making an “easy sell” out of Christian faith. If a person follows Jesus, it is not a life of ease to which that person is called, but it is a life of great impact. It is not a life that leads to the plush chair in the corner office with great retirement benefits; it is a life that may lead to an uncomfortable cross of sacrifice for others, an emptying of oneself for the world out of great love. And by the way, the retirement package for followers of Jesus? Well, it is truly out of this world! So, with all this in mind, you are all invited to join. No fine print, but a fine life indeed!

Holy Cross Summer Blood Drive Dear Friends,
What a weekend!! On Friday, with a goal of 60, we collected 76 units of blood. On Saturday, with a goal of 60, we collected 79. So for the weekend, with a goal of collecting 120 units of blood, we collected 155!
On top of that, on Saturday, we passed a milestone. With our collection of the weekend’s 108th unit of blood, Holy Cross, over the last 10 years, has now saved over 10,000 lives! This is wonderful and at the same time
amazing! YOU made this happen! I want to thank our donors, especially this time. Let’s be honest, there was a certain level of risk involved in giving this time. Our wonderful donors chose to see beyond that risk and to focus on the “good” that
would happen by getting involved. And that’s a really “GOOD” thing!

HOLY CROSS WOMEN’S CLUB $500 SCHOLARSHIP DRAWING A scholarship of $500 dollars will be awarded to one graduating high school senior to be used for college, technical school or missionary expenses. REQUIREMENTS: Graduating high school senior, registered member of Holy Cross (minimum of one year from deadline) Must have a minimum of 5 service hours for a Holy Cross ministry during the senior year. Go to www.holycrossatlanta.org to download the forms and for more details on how to complete the service hours. DEADLINE: All documentation of service hours with completed application must be submitted to the Parish Office no later than 4 pm on July 1, 2020. PARISH NEWS Part-time youth minister Holy Cross Catholic Church in Atlanta, is seeking a part-time youth minister for middle school and high school youth. Responsibilities include coordinating weekly catechetical sessions, assisting volunteer catechists and providing ongoing communications with parents. The youth minister must be a self-starter, a strong communicator and have good organizational skills. They must be a practicing Roman Catholic, with knowledge of Catholic Liturgy and sacramental requirements. Also this person must have experience facilitating Virtual Teleconferencing classes, Thursday and Sunday evenings.
