District Officer Training

An important part of this event is District Officer Training. Each district officer is

expected to attend their respective training, whether they are a new officer or if they

have held the position more than a year. Treasurers will start their trainings on Friday

evening and will continue at 10:00 on Saturday. Communication Coordinators will start

their training at 10:00 on Saturday. All officers will continue trainings on Saturday

afternoon following the business session of Annual Meeting, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

Training locations will be listed in the Annual Meeting Program Book.

The Reverend Kristen Burkhart is in her 11th year as a Pastor in the Holston

Conference. She was ordained as an Elder in the United Methodist Church in

2010. Kristen has been in ministry since 1998 as: youth pastor, children’s

director, associate pastor, and pastor. She graduated from the University of

Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and from Perkins School

of Theology, Southern Methodist University, with a Master of Divinity Degree.

She is currently enrolled at Wesley Theological Seminary earning her

Doctor of Ministry in Leadership Excellence.

Kristen has a heart for reaching the least, the last, and the lost. She loves to

promote healthy family systems and encourage leaders. Kristen is the 2015

recipient of the Harry Denman Evangelism Award from the Holston Annual

Conference. She places a focus on making, growing, and sending forth

disciples of Jesus Christ. She also enjoys taking part in mission work and has

had the opportunity to help with various mission trips both locally and afar.

Most recently Rev. Burkhart has served for seven years as the first female Pastor at Mt. Zion UMC in

Afton, TN. She is currently serving as the first female Pastor at Panther Springs UMC in Morristown, TN.

She gives credit to the UMW for some of her first opportunities to preach and for their encouragement,

prayers, and scholastic support they have offered her and other young ladies in ministry.

When in the pulpit, Pastor Kristen loves to preach the scripture in a practical life application story telling

manor to relate the love and mission of Jesus Christ. She has a passion for encouraging all people to

claim and name their spiritual gifts of ministry and to use them for the Glory of God’s Kingdom.

Kristin is married to Phillip Archer; they have a daughter, Joanna (9), and a son, Abraham (3).
