Friday 27th September 2019
From The Principal
As we reflect on the term we look back to all of our special moments that we have shared as a school community; all of the proud moments we have celebrated with the students and the activities and events that we have made memories with.
It is also a time upon reflection as today the community will gather as we grieve for the loss of a young man from the high school. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and the school at such a sad and challenging time.
Final Assembly On Monday, we celebrated all of the achievements of our students at the Term 3 Assembly. Certificates were awarded to students for all of their efforts over the last ten weeks. Thank you to the families who were able to attend and join us for morning tea afterwards. Thank you to the staff who have shown their kindness,
dedication, care and willingness to try different ways to engage students this term. A BIG thank you also to the students for trying their best each day and working on developing themselves and their skills in various areas.
Term 4 School resumes for staff and students on Monday 14th October. We are looking forward to hearing about all of the adventures that will happen over the break. The last day of term will be on Wednesday 18th December. Staff will not be at school for Thursday 19th and Friday 20th December as staff have made up for them through professional learning.
Professional Learning This week our staff engaged in professional learning for Wellbeing. As a school we are formalising the wellbeing that we are doing into a Holman Place School Wellbeing Policy and Procedure. This will
include Department Policies which will be made site specific to us, such as Student Wellbeing, Attendance, Suspension and Expulsion and Learning and Support Team. We look forward to working with our staff and Department staff to help draft this formally next term.
P&C update P&C will next meet on Tuesday 5th November at 9:30 am at the Cowra Council Chambers. We hope that you will be able to join us then.
Before and After School Care The NSW Government is working to improve access to before and after school care at NSW Public Schools. They are encouraging families to have their say through the link https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/basc

Wombats
Term 3 has been a busy term for the Wombats. They have engaged in different activities including gymnastics and horse riding. The students have put tremendous effort into their learning. Every student has shown great improvement in following our classroom routine.
Our morning circle focuses on sharing and turn taking skills. Its positive impact on the Wombats turn taking and sharing skills have been remarkable.
The children have had fun learning the alphabet with “The Alphabet Bean Bag Rap”. The Wombats have also worked on their number skills with different hands on
activities including the use of technology. It has been a pleasure working with the Wombats.
I look forward to supporting the children in different areas of their learning next term.
Have a safe and restful holiday.
Miss Esther, Nat & Sharon
Koalas
How quickly the term has gone! I have no doubt Term 4 will be the same, starting with activities for the Cowra Show.
Our trip with the Goannas to Dubbo Zoo was a great success even though we didn’t get to see the lions.
It was wonderful to see
parents and friends attend the end of term assembly and partake in morning tea. Their inspection of the exercise equipment produced good reviews. We will introduce the Koalas to these next term.
Some of the boys have begun working with comprehension cards which require them to read different types of
text and answer questions about what they have read. It is hoped that these will be used independently as the children become familiar with them.
We wish everyone a healthy and happy break.
Mrs Cathy and Sue.
Goannas
Congratulations to all the Goanna’s on an amazing term.
We have studied all the Book Week books, as well as Education Week, Naidoc Week, along with our weekly visits to the PCYC, RDA, and Community Access visits to all the parks, supermarkets and the
Cowra Book parade. PHEW what a whirlwind term!
The Goanna’s had a great visit to the zoo with the Koalas. All children are to be commended on their perfect behaviour.
Congratulations to Noah for his student of week award and to all the children on their end of term awards.
Term 4 promises to be just as busy and exciting.
Wishing all children and their families a safe and happy holiday and a well-earned rest.

TERM 3, 2019
Emus
The Emu class has really enjoyed their lessons this term. It has been very encouraging to see the students develop and grow. Some outstanding successes have been observed and we hope to continue with this in the final period of the year.
It was wonderful to have such great support from
delivery of the acknowledgement of country. Greg has been contributing to this at school assemblies on a regular basis.
We hope that everyone has a relaxing, safe and fun time during the holidays.
Mr John & Ruth
the many family and friends who attended the end of term assembly on Monday at Mulyan hall. Great to see all the students receive their awards for work well done. It was very impressive to see all the inspiring work that is being done across the whole school.
A big shout out to Gregory Hynes for his
In class we have been finishing up our descriptive writing unit, and have enjoyed playing the ‘Mystery Object’ game.
We hope you have a fun and safe holiday. Looking forward to seeing everyone back ready for an exciting Term 4!

some of the work we have been doing in class.
We have been busy in the vegetable gardens, planting our spring crops of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and zucchinis.
We always enjoy our weekly Meals on Wheels deliveries and our energy, fun filled Sportability sessions.
Kangaroos
