Purpose and Need
• Improve pedestrian safety and disabled accessibility at high‐volume pedestrian crossing locations and sidewalks
• Enhance access to bus stops and nearby destinations for pedestrians, bicyclists, residents and visitors

Community Input
In order to ensure the success of the project, the City encourages community involvement and input in the design process for future improvements.
Proposed locations and species for the trees, container plantings, hanging planters, and mini‐roundabout are subject to final approval from the Urban Forestry Division.

Street Trees & Container with Plantings
• Trees will be watered for a 1‐year establishment period
• Container plantings will be watered for a 6‐month establishment period.
• After these periods, maintenance will be the responsibility of the adjacent landowner. Hollywood Business Improvement District (BID) agreed to take on the maintenance responsibility.

• West of 101 Freeway• Recommended by BID ‐Mexican Fan Palms and Canary Island Date Palms
• East of 101 Freeway• Recommended by BID – Australian Willow and Chinese Pistache
• BSS’s tree guide recommends tree well sizes 6‐8 feet square for both of these trees. The City will provide alternate species where sidewalks are narrow.

Hanging Flowers• Hanging flowers will be watered
for a 6‐month establishment period.
• After this period, maintenance will be the responsibility of the adjacent landowner. The two Hollywood Business Improvement Districts agreed to fund the maintenance.

• Bicycle racks have only one style and are installed and maintained through LADOT
• Benches and trash receptacles are installed through the project’s funding– The BIDs will take on maintenance responsibility
• Community can choose styles recommended by the BID or propose different styles

Community Proposals
• Characteristics of community sponsored or proposed street furniture– The City will cover installation, but does not service or maintain– Proposals must be within the project’s budget
» Benches = $1,200*/each» Trash receptacles = $600*/each» Container for Plantings = $800*/each» Hanging Flower Baskets = $350*/each*includes cost of materials and labor
