a message from the District Superintendent
Welcome to the Holley Central School District. We’re pleased to provide you with this
brochure about our school district, giving you an overview of our programs and facilities.
Research shows there are many educational benefits for students who are part of small school
communities. In Holley, that rings true.
Our students enjoy small class sizes and a wide variety of sports, clubs, music programs and
activities. Our teachers and support staff work together to help each and every child who
comes through our doors to achieve educational success. And our community prides itself on
being involved in our school district and caring about our students. The students, in turn, have
donated many hours of community service as thanks to the towns that comprise our district.
Please feel free to gather information, ask questions, and most important of all, visit our
schools and meet the people. You’ll find that people who move to Holley stay in Holley
because of its small size and friendly atmosphere. Come be a part of that Holley spirit.
Sincerely,
Robert C. D’Angelo
Superintendent of Schools
We, the students, parents, staff, and community of
the Holley Central School District, will work together
to provide the opportunity and means for all students
to acquire the skills, knowledge, and attitudes to
become responsible and productive citizens in a diverse
and changing society. The ideal is to instill a passion for
lifelong learning.
The District has in place a strategic process for continuous development,
review, and improvement of a relevant and innovative curriculum, which
challenges all students to achieve their maximum potential.
Our students thrive in a safe and stimulating environment that is conducive to
learning. They have access to the facilities, tools, and technologies necessary for
a quality education.
An effective communication system based on a student-parent-staff-
community partnership serves as the cornerstone for excellence in our schools.
Students, parents, staff, and community have confidence that resources are
wisely used and take pride in the quality of our education system.
our District’s Vision
our District’s Mission
our School District
Holley Central School District has a pre-K-12 student
population of 1,224. The elementary school population
is 628, the middle school 188 (grades 7 & 8), and the high
school 408. The middle school and high school students
share one building and the district office shares a building
with the single elementary school.
Students
District residents recently approved a Phase 2 $27.4
million capital project that will complete renovations at
the Middle School/High School; provide accessibility,
technology, and security upgrades at the Elementary School;
allow for the construction of a new bus maintenance
facility; and include an all-weather track, expanded playing
fields, and safe and adequate access and parking.
Facilities
Holley’s food service
program offers nutritional
breakfasts and lunches to
both students and staff.
Free and reduced price
breakfasts and lunches
are available to families
in need. Food service
also caters special
events for the school
community throughout
the year.
• Two principals
• Director of Student Services/Alternative High School principal
• Assistant superintendent for business
• Director of Special Programs
• Three social workers, and a prevention coordinator
• Guidance counselors at each building
• Certified staff of 127, support staff of 98
Staff and Services
Holley’s 26 school bus drivers transport over 1,200 students
more than 1,900 miles a day. The 50-square mile district has an
estimated total population of 10,000, including the incorporated
Village of Holley, significant portions of the townships of Murray
and Clarendon, and small portions of Albion, Barre and Clarkson.
Each of the school buildings has a full-time registered nurse on
duty to provide first aid and emergency services. The nurses also
do vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings regularly, as well as keep
track of students’ immunizations and childhood diseases.
our elementary Program
Holley Elementary School is a welcoming building
for grades pre-K through six. The student population is
approximately 630 and there are over 60 teachers, teaching
assistants, and teacher’s aides working with our students.
It is a true neighborhood school with families as active
members of the school community.
Our Response to Intervention or RTI program is
a building-wide initiative. We take great pride in this
program because it enables staff to meet all student
needs as soon as they are determined. RTI is a flexible
problem-solving model in which the school provides
timely assistance to students by matching the help
provided to each learner’s level or need. As a result, RTI
has led to a dramatic increase in reading scores.
Our New York State Testing Program scores have
continually risen every year to be the second highest in the
county. Our Scholars Program addresses student learning
deficiencies and prepares all students for success. Our
After School Study Hall is an option for students who need
extra assistance with homework. And our Student Support
Center offers a testing center, extra skill practice, and a quiet
environment in which to work during the regular school day.
Grades 3-6 are able to take part in a 10-week program
that introduces them to the Spanish language, giving
them an advantage when they begin full-time language
instruction in middle school.
Our learning environment is enriched with many clubs
and groups for students to join. The Elementary Theatre
Guild involves students from every grade level in the
presentation of full length plays.
our Secondary Program
Holley Middle School/High School (grades 7-12) offers
a solid core curriculum of state-mandated courses. We
offer college courses, technical training, and alternative
education to reach every learner. The Middle School and
High School, while sharing one building, have their own
identity and distinctly different programs. Holley students
continually meet or exceed state standards.
The district offers accelerated students the
opportunity to earn college credit while meeting graduation
requirements through a partnership with Genesee Community
College’s ACE Program. Students can earn up to 33 transferable
college credits in subjects such as: College Physics, English
Composition, U.S. History, Biology, Spanish 1 and 2, Calculus,
Computers, and Business. With the goals of enhancing the high
school learning experience and preparing students for the transition
to college and careers, our program can save the expense of up to
one year of college.
Students have an opportunity to explore any number of different
career and technical fields at WEMOCO Career and Technical
Education Center at Monroe 2–Orleans BOCES in Spencerport. Holley,
in cooperation with eight neighboring school districts, transports students
on a half-day basis to the Center located in nearby Spencerport.
Also offered to Holley students through BOCES 2 is the Career
Education Internship Program, which enables high school juniors and
seniors to investigate career options. Students spend 150 hours at the
career site with a selected mentor. As part of the Career Assessment
program at BOCES 2, students are provided with an understanding of
their career and technical interests, aptitudes and abilities.
Holley recently opened its own Alternative High School to serve
students who have difficulty functioning in the traditional school setting
for whatever reason. It is staffed by a principal, two teachers, a social
worker, two teaching assistants, and two instructional aides. The program
is within walking distance to the Middle School/High School, so students
can participate in extracurricular activities.
Holley offers a wide variety of extracurricular opportunities ranging
from academic clubs to interest clubs to athletics. Both Junior National
Honor Society and National Honor Society are well established at the
Middle School/High School, as well as a Masterminds team. Every spring
students can participate in a musical production. Students may also join
interest clubs such as Spanish Club and Student Council, or participate in
our athletic program.
Special ProgramsTo better accommodate the learning needs of all students, Holley
Central School District has adopted a school-wide approach called
Response to Intervention or RTI. RTI is a flexible problem-solving
model in which the school provides timely assistance to students
by matching the help provided to each learner’s level of need. RTI
organizes school intervention services into three levels or tiers.
Students with emerging difficulties in school are first given Tier I,
universal support. If that help is not sufficient, they are next provided
with Tier II, individualized assistance. Students with significant
school delays who do not respond to Tier I and Tier II interventions
may be eligible for Tier III, intensive support.
Holley Central School offers supports for struggling
or disabled students from general education to intensive
special class services. All children, regardless of ability
or unique need, are fully included in all school day and
extracurricular activities.
athletics
The Holley Central School District
interscholastic athletic program is built on
the qualities outlined in the district’s Code of
Conduct - responsible behavior, mutual respect,
concern for others, cooperation with others,
and personal excellence.
Holley offers athletes the opportunity to
participate in a total of 13 sports at the varsity,
junior varsity, modified, and intramural levels.
Holley teams consistently capture numerous
regional titles and Section V titles. The expectation
is for excellence both on and off the playing fields.

The Holley Parent-Teacher-Student Association actively supports the
students, staff, and community of the Holley Central School District. Each
year, the PTSA sponsors many student-centered events, such as the Spelling
Bee, Odyssey of the Mind, Parents as Reading Partners, Elementary Flag
Day Parade, Homecoming Parade, Field Days, Sixth Grade Moving Up Day,
and after school movies. In addition, the PTSA provides Senior Scholarships,
Kinder-Ready Kits, and student grants to assist students wanting to attend
conferences. The Board of Education “Meet the Candidates” Night and
Staff Appreciation Days are other activities supported by the PTSA. Parents
are encouraged to become involved. The Holley PTSA usually meets on the
second Wednesday of every month and the meetings are open to the public.

The Holley Board of Education has nine members who
oversee district functions and facilities. Board members
are elected by district residents and serve without pay for
three-year terms. Board meetings are generally held the third
Monday of each month and are open to the public. District
residents are encouraged to attend.
Board of education
School district volunteers are an integral part of the learning
environment in Holley. That is why the Holley Board of Education
approved a volunteer program that makes it possible to compile a list of
regular volunteers and focus their help where it is most needed. As always,
any parent is welcome to volunteer in his or her child’s classroom.
Those interested in volunteering can obtain an application by clicking
on the link on the district website or picking up one in the District
Office. Some opportunities for volunteering include: assisting students
with projects, checking homework, preparing supplies for projects,
reading to children, and assisting in various areas of the school. Parents,
grandparents, community members, and high school and college students
are encouraged to apply.
Volunteers
Holley’s continuing education program offers a
variety of courses for adults. Senior citizens can take
nearly all of the courses free of charge. A course
catalog is mailed to all residents before the fall and
spring sessions.
