History Because of the location of Holland it

was a great place for trading. In the 16th century the King of Spain

ruled over the Netherlands. But in 1568, a man by the name of

William I, Prince of Orange led a revolt against the Spanish.

More History Netherlands welcomed people who were

fleeing from all over. During World War II the Netherlands was

neutral. Germany launched an attack on the

Netherlands. Germans deported Jews to concentration

camps. Non -Jewish civilians hid Jews.

Study was done to see if there was a relationship between mental health issues and binge drinking among Dutch adolescents. (Theunissen, 2011.)

Study found that immigrants had a bigger BMI than Dutch born people. (Vermaat-Cornelisse, 2007).

Beer drinker compared to wine drinkers have more unhealthy eating habits. (Sluik, 2014).

Study was done on the health literacy of Dutch adults. It found that more education needs to be done when it comes to understanding health issues among adults. (Heidi, 2013).

Marijuana is legal in coffee shops. Prostitution is legal-drug testing done. Because of all the cattle, diseases are

monitored very closely. Smoking laws enforced. Euthanasia and gay marriage legal as of 2000. Abortion is legal- lowest rate in the world.

Summary The Netherlands if full of amazing

history and culture. Over all they are a very healthy

culture. Religion is not a high priority among

citizens. They seem to understand health

issues and what needs to be done to correct them.
