PREPARING FOR THE SESSIONBefore starting a reflexology session you must first consult with your client, You should know their health history, ask questions about past illnesses, surgery, broken of injured bones, as well as current health problems. If your client has serious health problems and has not seen a GP then you must encourage them to do so. If a client is on painkillers or any medication that reduces feeling, always be careful not to overwork the reflex points for the areas in questions. You may use if you wish the consultation form provided with this course.

Assessing the FeetBefore beginning a reflexology treatment, you must first assess the condition of your clients feet. You will be checking the temperature of the feet, to see if the feet are hot and sweaty, this may indicate a problem with the glands, illness or metabolism imbalance, and cold feet could indicate an insufficient supply of blood to the foot causing circulation problems

The texture of the feet may feel harder or softer in some areas than others. Smooth or rough, dry or moist, you may also feel resistance in the tissue on the area you are working on.Calluses may indicate a internal problem which has caused the reflex point to become more sensitive and susceptible to the formation of calluses.

Warts/Verrucas may be located on a weak reflex point.Lumps may indicate other physical problems.Scars may affect energy flow.Nail disorders may indicate disease or vitamin/mineral deficiency.Odor may indicate an imbalance in one or more of the body's systems.

Pigmentation may indicate the client has had surgery correlating to that area of the body. A yellow colouring may indicate a liver imbalance or excessive toxins or bile in the system. Very pale colouring indicates poor circulation.

Puffiness/swelling may indicate areas of fluid imbalance or internal disorders.

Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder.

Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation or a skin disorder.

Colour variations may be caused by a build up of toxins, fluid retention or mucus in that area of the body, it is also a possible indicator of circulation problems.

Once you have check your clients feet, you can either gently wipe them with a cloth, or give them a ten minute foot spar, to soften and clean the feet.

Once you have dried the feet, cover any corns, calluses with a band aid to avoid contamination of the area.

Many people prefer to use talcum power as they find that oil or creams tend to make the feet to slippery to work on, try out different methods and choose the one that works best for you.

When giving a reflexology treatment your attitude and intention before and during a session are extremely important, as you will be affecting your client on many levels, not just the physical. Projecting confidence and strength , along with sensitivity to the other creates a spiritual bond between the two of you.

As you perform the treatment you will realize how important this bonding is for healing to take place. It creates a oneness between the healer and the receiver. The great thing about hands on therapy such as reflexology is the direct human contact, human warmth and compassion.

Clear your mind and centre your attention before you begin, Breathe deeply, drawing in the healing energy of the universe, make it your intention to be a channel of healing for the person you are working on, keeping in mind that it is not your personal energy that passes into the feet your are holding, you are tapping into unlimited universal energy.

What you might feel when treating a client.

If you feel a sensation of popping while working on the client, a bit like popping bubble wrap, this can be caused by an energy imbalance, it is very common in the large intestine area and can also indicate trapped wind in that area.

Crystals and grittiness may be found whilst carrying out a reflexology treatment and is Uric acid crystals and calcium deposits built up on the end of the nerve and capillaries which causes congestion.Working this area can help to disperse theses crystal and encourages a better flow of energy and improved circulation.

Hollow/ empty areas can be due to poor energy flows or where an organ has been removed in that area. Equally , if there is a build up of scar tissue within that area, you may feel hardness in the corresponding reflex points.Hardness may indicate a poor energy flow in that particular reflex point and can also indicate muscular tension and tightness within this area.

Dampness may mean the client could be retaining toxins and not eliminating waste efficiently.

Excessive sweaty feet can indicate a hormone imbalance, it may also indicate a thyroid imbalance.

What the client may feel during a treatment

They may feel sensitivity to touch, even with the lightest of pressure. They may feel a sharp sensation, like they have been pricked with a pin. They may encounter pain or discomfort.

Reflexology is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, continually ask you client if the pressure is Ok, remember to use light pressure on children and the elderly. Some people like to feel a lot of pressure and other Reflexologist's claim that if you do not feel pain, you have not had real reflexology.

Relaxation Techniques. All reflexology treatments incorporate relaxation techniques. There are many relaxation techniques that can be used during a treatment and their importance should not be understated.

Remember that the ultimate aim is to relax the client to encourage a more receptive environment for the treatment.

Before the treatment.Relaxation techniques can be used to:Introduce the patient to the practitioners touchWarm and relax the footPut the patient at easeSignal the start of the treatments.Access the level of flexibility of the foot which may reflect the patients stress levels.

During the treatment.Relaxation techniques can be used to:Keep the foot relaxedkeep the patient relaxedProvide a link when moving from one area of the foot to anotherduring the treatment sequenceProvide a respite for the Reflexologists so that constant pressure can be applied throughout the treatment.

End of a treatmentRelaxation techniques can be used to:Signify that the treatment has come to an endRelax the footRelax the practitioners handsprovide a comforting and reassuring end to a professional treatment.

Techniques

Side to side relaxationThis can be used to start a treatment, it initiates the treatment, introduces the patient to the practitioners hands and relaxes the patient. It can also loosen and relax the upper foot.To perform this technique.Loosely cup the hands on either side of the upper half of the foot, gently rock the foot back and forth, suing alternate hand movements.

Achilles pinch and slideThis can be performed at the beginning of a treatment, it relaxes and gently stretches the Achilles tendon making it more supple and sends a feeling of relaxation up the leg.To perform this support the foot at the toes, place the thumb and fingers comfortably on either side of the Achilles tendon, Gently apply pressure as you glide up the Achilles tendon for about 10cm. Repeat this several times

Double Hand EffleurageThis can be used after the spinal and other skeletal areas have been treated. It relaxes the foot and the practitioners hands, it is generally very soothing and can link with the next area to be worked on.To perform this technique: Using a small circular movement with both hands working in a mirror image, move down the dorsal area from the base of the toes to the ankle. Loop around the outside of the ankle bones with the fingers this leaves your thumbs naturally place on the plantar area. Work up this area using alternating deep, slow thumb circles until you reach the toes, repeat for 5 circuits of the foot.

Crescent moonthis can be used after the respiratory system has been treated but prior to working the spine. It stretches the metatarsals, relaxes the whole foot and improves the blood supply to the muscles between the metatarsals. Perform this technique by placing both thumbs firmly over the lung reflex area, starting at the centre of the dorsal area, using a moderate pressure, gently draw the finger back across the dorsal aspect causing the foot to form a crescent shape.

Page 8: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

Diaphragm Relaxation. This can be performed at the beginning of the treatment, it relaxes the patient by helping slow down the breathing. It also allows the practitioner to gauge the patients level of relaxation and flexibility of the foot.To perform this place the working thumb on the medial edge of the diaphragm line, with the other hand gently but firmly pull the foot over the thumb, using the thumb as a pivot. Continue this across the foot from the medial edge to the lateral edge, change hands and then return.

Dorsal ChannelsThis can be performed at the beginning of a treatment, it gently encourages venous flow and therefore can assist with swollen feet and ankles, to perform this place the thumbs on the plantar aspect to act as a base, using sliding movements with alternating index fingers, slide gently down the channels(grooves) between each toe on the dorsal aspect of the foot.

Spinal TwistThis can be used at the beginning of a treatment, it stretches the longitudinal arch of the foot in preparation for later work on the spinal reflex area.To perform this hold the medial edge of the foot and the toes with one hand and position the second hand at the heel.Gently twist the foot as though wringing a cloth, the main emphasis of the twist comes from the upper hand.

Metatarsal see - sawThe metatarsal see saw can be used prior to treating the digestive system, it exercises the joints of the foot, massages the muscles between the metatarsals, eases stiffness and increases flexibility. You perform this by using the fingers of the dorsal aspect and the thumbs on the plantar aspect, take hold of the metatarsals below toes 1 and 2 using one hand for each. Now using a firm but gentle pressure move the hands alternately up and down similar to a see-saw, repeat five times and then release.

Repeat for metatarsals 2 and 3 . Repeat for metatarsals 3 and 4 .Repeat for metatarsals 4 and 5

Page 9: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

Dorsal StrokingThis can be used after all the systems have been treated, it is very soothing and a good linking techniques to use between movements, it also helps to drain excess fluid.Using all four fingers of each hand, gently make short, circular strokes, Alternate the hands and work from the base of the toes to the ankle and then return . Repeat this several times.

Ankle CirclesAnkle circles can follow the dorsal stroking relaxation technique. It is soothing and eases puffiness and tension around the ankle bone. The ankles are often neglected so they appreciate the attention. When the ankle is reached using the dorsal stroking technique, concentrate on circling the ankle bones using just two fingers. Give extra emphasis to the underside of the ankle bone as this is often a very tight area.

Plantar PetrissageThis follows the ankle circles relaxation technique, it relaxes yet tones the foot muscles and keeps the foot joints supple. From the ankle, transfer your thumb onto the plantar aspect at the heel. Using slow, deep, circular movements, work the thumbs up the sole of the foot, repeat this several times to thoroughly cover the whole area.

Medial Petrissage. This can follow on from the plantar petrissage, it stimulates the spinal reflexes and is soothing and comfortable.Start on the medial edge at the base of the big toe.Use both thumbs in a slow deep circular movement and work your way down the heelwork your way back up the medial edge to the big toeRepeat this several times

KnucklingThis is used following the spinal area but prior to treating the digestive system, it stimulates all nerve endings in the feet and is both relaxing an beneficial to the foot. This is done by putting your hand into a fist and using your knuckles to stimulate the area.

Page 10: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

Foot MouldingThis can follow on from the medial petrissage, it massages and loosens the toe joints.Place one hand on the plantar side and one hand on the dorsal side of the foot to sandwich the foot between the heels of your hands, apply pressure, rotate each hand alternately, keeping the pressure on so that the hand resembles bicycle pedals turning.

Gliding OffThis can be used as the last movement of the treatment. It is a very gentle way of signalling to your patient that you have finished. Link with the previous technique using a gentle, gliding stroke to ultimately position one hand on the plantar aspect and on hand on the dorsal aspect of the foot at the ankle. Slowly and gently glide your hand up the length of the foot , drifting off at the toes.

Suggested Treatment plan for relaxation. These movements get the client used to having their feet touched. It reduces their vulnerability by building up client/therapist trust, thus making them more open and receptive to treatment. They also give the therapist an indication of the foots condition.

These movements should be used to start and finish a reflexology session

1, Greet the feet 2, Wrap one foot up and effleurage the other 3, Under the ankle rotations 4, Achilles tendon stretch 5. Foot Boogie 6, Toe stretch and rotation 7, Finger slide 8, Spinal twist 9, Planter stretch10, Metatarsal Manipulation11, Thumb walk diaphragm12, Repeat stages 2 – 10 on other foot.13, Leg stretch and lower back release (while you pull towards you the client takes a deep breath, repeat this 3 times on both feet)14, Effleurage both feet together 15, Thumb press solar plexus, both feet, the client takes deep breathes as you give pressure, increase pressure 3 times.

Thumb/Finger WalkingThis is also known as the caterpillar movement. This is done with the outer edge of the thumb. To find this spot lay your hand on a table, palm down and notice the edge of the tip of the thumb that touches the surface. This is the part of the thumb that comes into contact with the foot. Thumb walking consists of bending the thumb at the first joint so that the thumb takes very small steps, or bites, along the foot. Do not allow the thumb to bend at the second joint closer to the wrist. Practice taking these small bites first on the table and then on the palm or your own hand. Apply leverage with the other for fingers behind the palm or wrist and let the thumb walk along taking the little bites each time it bends, it is the bending motion that moves the thumb forward. You do not have to consciously push it along, the little bites are pulling back the flesh of the skin and then moving the thumb slightly forward for the next bite. THE WALKING MOVEMENT IS ALWAYS FORWARD, NEVER BACKWARD OR SIDEWAYS. Steady pressure is important, you should not feel the pressure turned on and off as your thumb walks along. There should be a steady, even pressure.

Gliding movementPretty much as it is described you press your thumb into the skin and glide across, this is good for large areas and is often used after using the caterpillar movement.

Finger walking. This is similar to thumb walking except that it is the corner edge of the index finger that does the walking. Bend the finger from the first joint, keeping the rest of the finger rigid. You can give your index finger more support by holding the foot with your thumb and middle finger. Practice finger walking on the back of your hand, placing the thumb on the palm and use the other three fingers for leverage. As with thumb walking take the smallest bites possible, slowly progressing forward. The other fingers and thumb provide leverage and move along with the index finger. It helps to raise and lower the wrist with each bite.

Page 12: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

You can use other fingers beside the index for finger walking and in some areas on the foot, another finger may be in better position. Usually only one finger is used at any one time, but there are places on the sides of the foot for example where you can and should use two fingers for added strength.

Rotation on a Point.Place the thumb or finger onto a reflex point and rotate onto it.The holding hand lifts the foot up, flexes it down and rotates the foot in a circular motion onto the thumb so it presses firmly into the desired point.

Pivot on a Point An alternative to the rotation on a point is the pivot technique. It is thumb walking while the other hand presses the foot straight back and pivots it away from you onto the thumb. To enable you to do this, grasp the foot with the holding hand, your fingers resting over the top of the foot. Thumb walk with the other hand on a diagonal across the area to be worked on. As you thumb walk use the holding hand to pivot or twist the foot away from you on and off the thumb in a smooth rhythmical fashion....note this is only from the inside of the foot to the outside.

Flexing on a pointThis is the same procedure as pivoting on a point except the holding hand moves the foot backward and forward on the thumb instead of pivoting or twisting away.

Hook and Back upUse the medial corner of the thumb and push into the skin. Use the four fingers for leverage. Hook into the skin and then pull the thumb back slightly, without releasing the pressure. Do not let the thumb slide off the spot, hold the position for a few seconds and release. This technique can be used to work the pituitary and pineal reflexes, and is used to apply pressure to a specific point that is either hard to reach deep in the foot or too small to use the walking techniques.

An Important note about reflexology charts and maps

The most confusing aspect of learning the reflexology sequence is the variety of charts and diagrams available, many of which seem to vary in their depiction of the location of some reflex points. There will also be a variety of suggestions as to the order of the treatment.

The important thing to remember about reflexology charts, treatment sequences, zones and cross reflexes is that they represent a map. The reason for looking at any map is to get to the right location in the most efficient manner, If you travel the same route enough times you will no longer need the map, indeed you may even find different routes to the same location. You may then decide to create your own map to share the new routes. It is also possible that other people reading the same map will look at it differently and decide on a different location by another route. So it is with reflexology charts, it is best to stick with your preferred chart in order to learn the sequence and the location of reflex areas, but always be open to different approaches and techniques.

There are also some other explanations as to the variation in reflex charts.

1 The foot is not a perfect reflection of the shape of the body and therefore the location of certain reflex points is dependent on the anatomical interpretation of the foot.

2 Personal experience of performing reflexology may draw practitioners to vary their technique and create differing charts.

3 In rare circumstances there can be quite wide variations in the placement of some organs in the body of different individuals.

4 There may be more than one reflex area for some paths of the body, or reflex areas on the foot overlap and overlay each other, just as structures in the body do.

The Treatment.

Always start on the right foot,(left brain) as it rebalances the physical. Working the left foot first will rebalance the emotional side (right brain)

Working the right foot first also follows the natural flow of the colon (large intestine) which begins on the right foot and expels on the left.

Starting on the left foot first opens the more receptive side of the brain, otherwise the body might reject the stimulation.

Some people like to work both sides simultaneously as this balances systems across the body.

This is just a suggest method you can use, with experience you will perfect your own way of working.

Diaphragm LinePlace the palmar surface of the thumb on the diaphragm line directly below the ball of the foot. Caterpillar walk across the reflex from zone 1 to 5 (do 3 to 5 Walks)

Solar PlexusPlace the palmar surface of the distal joint (first joint) of the working thumb so it straddles the diaphragm. Give 3 distinct on/off presses into the reflex or use pin point technique, do this twice in the beginning and twice at the end of the treatment.

Head – Brain- FaceUse the thumb to caterpillar walk up the outside of the big toe and over the top and down the other side (head/brain)Hold the foot in a foot wrap, use the working thumb to caterpillar walk up the back of the toe from the neck of the toe to the top of the toe, cover all the area.Hold the toe in finger and thumb grip and walk down the front of the toe from top to neck.

Page 28: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

Front of Neck - Back of NeckPlace the digit on the outer edge of the neck of the big toe, pointing towards the little toe. This will be the starting point for both front and back of neck. Use finger on front and thumb on the back.Caterpillar walk across the neck of the toe from outside to inside. Stop between toe one and toe two. First on top, then front of neck and then on the bottom on the back of the neck.

Occipital, Mastoid process, Temple.Place thumb with tip pointing upwards on the base of the big toe. Caterpillar walk up the toe for three bites, from neck of toe. Stop at this point and give 3 distinct on/off presses on the occipital reflex. Caterpillar walk one further bite up the toe. Stop on this mastoid reflex and give three on/off presses on the reflex. Caterpillar walk a further 2 bites up the toe. Stop on the temple reflex (narrowest part of the toe) and give 3 distinct on/off presses on the reflex.

Pituitary – Pineal Gland HypothalamusYou will find these on the big toes of each foot, use the map to pin point exactly where they are. Make 3 distinct pressure circles on each gland.

Sinuses/Cranial NervesCaterpillar walk up the side and over the top , then down the other side of each toe.Now caterpillar walk up each part of the toe, your aim is to make sure that all of the area is stimulated.

Teeth – Gums – Face JawFrom here place the index finger on the top of the big toe nail, tip of finger pointing towards the leg and caterpillar walk down the big toe from top to base, now do the remaining toes.

Lymphatics of Head – Neck - ThoraxVery gently pinch the webbing between the toes, start between the big toe and toe 2, then while holding the pinch make a slight twist movement. This action will resemble that of clicking your fingers. Now treat the webbing between the remaining toes.Use your index finger to caterpillar walk down the top of the foot to

Page 29: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

the diaphragm area on the thoracic lymphatic reflex.Work in the groove located in line with toe 1 and toe 2.Then work down the same grove again but instead of doing the caterpillar walk, do a series of pressure circles.

Eyes and EarsNow do a caterpillar walk along the bottom of the toes covering the eyes and ear area.

Thyroid- Parathyroid (helper)Caterpillar walk across diaphragm line, from medial edge of foot, when in line with the big toe and toe 2 turn your thumb to caterpillar walk up the crease line to the base of the toes.

ThyroidPlace the pad of the working thumb on the centre of the pad in the ball of the foot.Use the working thumb to make 3 distinct deep pressure circles (rotations) on the reflex.

Trachea-Bronchial-Lung- ShoulderCaterpillar walk up ball of foot, from diaphragm to base of big toe. This area treats oesphagus for two thirds, final one third towards toe two treats trachea.Continue to caterpillar walk up the foot between diaphragm and base of each toe, 2,3 and 4. This movement treats the lungsContinue to caterpillar walk from diaphragm to base of toe five. This movement treats the shoulder area.

Upper AbdomenAcross the area between diaphragm and waist.Use the thumb of the working hand to caterpillar walk across the foot from zone 1 to zone 5. Do as many movements as necessary to treat the whole area. Then treat the whole area again but this time caterpillar walk across the foot from Zone 5 to Zone 1.

Gall Bladder _ Right FootPlace the thumb on upper abdomen in line with gap between toes 3-4. with the tip of thumb touching the diaphragm line, use the entire first joint to give 2 deep presses in to the gall bladder reflex.

Page 30: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

Liver Reflex – Right foot onlyAcross upper abdomen, between diaphragm and waist. On the right foot only Place the thumb across the upper abdomen in line with toe 3. Caterpillar walk across the area from Zone 3 to Zone 5. Do as many movements as necessary until the upper two thirds of the area between the diaphragm and waist is treated. Then treat the area again but this time work the liver from zone 5 to zone 3

Spleen reflex On the left foot only, Across the upper abdomen, between diaphragm and waist, place the thumb across the upper abdomen line with toe 3. caterpillar walk across the area from zone 4 to zone 5. Do as many movements as necessary until the upper two thirds of the area between the diaphragm and waist is treated. Then treat entire area again but this time work the spleen from zone 5 to zone 4

Stomach/duodenum/pancreas – right foot.Put your thumb on the edge of the foot directly under the diaphragm line, pointing towards the outer edge. Caterpillar walk across the foot from zone 1 to zone 2. Continue working in this manner to cover upper two thirds of area between diaphragm line and waist line. Swop hands over and this time work the same area but in the opposite direction. (ie zone 2 to Zone 1)

Stomach – Pancreas -Duodenum – Left FootPut the thumb on the medial edge of the foot, directly under the diaphragm line, pointing towards the outer edge. Caterpillar walk across the foot from zone 1 to zone 3. Continue working in the manner to cover upper two thirds of the area between diaphragm line and waist line. Swap hands and this time work the same area but in the opposite direction (I.e zone 3 to 1)

Lower abdomen – small intestineAcross liver abdomen, between waist and pelvic floor line. Place the thumb across the lower abdomen in line with toe 1. Caterpillar walk across the area from zone 1 to zone 5. Do as many movements as necessary until the area between the waist line and pelvic floor line is treated. Then treat entire area again, but this time work from zone 5 to zone 1.

Page 31: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

Lower back, Gluteals,Pelvis,SciaticCaterpillar walk across the heel pad from the inner edge, zone 1 to the outer edge zone 5. Starting at the pelvic floor line.Work downwards to the base of the heel. Do as many movements as necessary in order to cover the area.Caterpillar walk up from the base of the heel to the pelvic floor . Walk from zone 1 to zone 5. Do as many movements as necessary to cover the entire area.

Sciatic supportPut the working palm uppermost against the leg, slide towards the knee, while keeping the pressure up into the muscle.Closing the working hand around the calf muscle. Squeeze, release, move forward. Work in this manner until the calf muscle is treated.

Sciatic reflexWork down behind outer ankle, across centre of hard heel pad, up behind inner ankle bone.Rest the finger of the working hand across the leg (in the area of the ankles) Put the thumb of this hand behind the outer ankle bone. The tip pointing towards the heel.Use the thumb to caterpillar walk down the foot to the heel, turn the thumb and work across the centre of the hard heel pad. From zone 5 to zone 1. Turn thumb again this time work up behind the inner ankle bone to top of the ankle. Change hands an repeat movement in opposite direction.

SpineUse the thumb to caterpillar walk down the inner edge of the foot. Work from the distal joint of the big toe (joint nearest the nail) down to the edge of the heel. Follow the curve of the bone. Change hands and do the movement in the opposite direction, on the way back to wards the big toe, angle the thumb and inhance the pressure upwards into the bone... do not work the bladder reflex.

Page 32: Holistic Healing & Reiki By Sharon · Cracks may indicate a hormonal imbalance, a lack of fat in the diet or internal disorder. Dry Flaky skin may show dehydration, poor circulation

Shoulder- Arm – Leg – Hip and Lower backUse the thumb tip pointing towards the heel to caterpillar walk down the outside of the foot, from the base of the little toe to the heel. Then turn the thumb and caterpillar walk back up the same area to the base of the little toe. The first 2-3 caterpillar walks treat the shoulder, the next 2-3 treat the arm and the next treat the leg, finally treating the hip and lower back.

Additional treatments for problem joint areas.

While supporting the foot with one hand, cup the heel in the other hand and use all finger of the hand to caterpillar walk up the outside of the foot, this will cover the elbow, knee and hip joints.

Rectum/Anus /PelvisUsing the pelvic floor line as a guide to start and finish movement, work in a house - shoe shape around the outer edge of the heel. Put thumb on lateral edge of foot, level with pelvic floor line, pointing down towards heel, caterpillar walk around the heel to the corresponding point on the inside, here give 3 distinct pressure circles on the rectum/anus support reflex.

Kidney - Ureter tubesPut the distal joint (first joint) of the thumb, tip towards toes, straddling the waist line, give 2 deep pressure circles, release thumb for a second the repeat.Swivel thumb tip towards the heel, work down the foot on the ureter tube reflex to the pelvic floor line, then continue the movement up onto the soft mound on the inside of the foot ( this is the bladder)

BladderPlace the thumb ;in the centre of the soft flesh area and give 3 deep pressure circles.Keep the thumb in position then make 3 or 4 short caterpillar walks outwards from the bladder in the general direction of the big toe. Slide back to the centre in between each walk.
