Spring I Edition
Spring I 2019
My how far we have come! This edition of HCIdentity covers the one year anniversary of the opening of our Fitness Floor and Membership area – and as they say, time really has flown by! Glancing at the past year and a half, we should all admire the strides and changes we have made.
I admire the changes and improvements that our staff has made to create a better experience for all of our members and guests.
I admire how the facility has changed and evolved to better accommodate the needs of our community.
I admire how all of YOU have changed; you’ve worked hard toward your goals and you’ve grown tremendously as a result.
To quote Benjamin Franklin, “Without continual growth and progress, such words as ‘improvement, achievement, and success’ have no meaning.”
I believe that Hill Country Indoor has become more than just a big building on the parkway, more than just a sports complex and more than just a place to work out. We’re beginning to see HCI become anchored in the community as a part of the everyday lives of our families.
We believe that HCI will weave itself deeper and deeper into the fitness, sports and healthy-living lifestyles in the surrounding region. We know that the impact HCI is having on our members and guests is profound and we can see that we are helping people and improving lives every day.
All of which has been our vision and our goal since day one!
I must thank all of you, our stellar members, for choosing to be a part of HCI and working with us through the refinement and betterment that’s taken place over the past year. I am not sure we could have ever predicted what today would look like a year ago; although the outside of our facility may be the same, the inside of HCI has seen amazing changes. Special thanks to the spectacular HCI team members for helping our vision become today’s reality. I am beyond humbled and proud to be a small part of this facility and am eager to see what the future holds for Hill Country Indoor. Thank you for being here, thank you for supporting us and thank you for believing in us! Here’s to many more years of sports, sweat and fun at Hill Country Indoor!

It is amazing to see how HCI has evolved in such a short amount of time...
This Spring season, we will hold our third Youth 4v4 League for 5-12 year olds. In the 8-game weeks, we hope to have an enormous impact on the young players, both on and off the field. We emphasize being ACES on the day, which means having great Attitude, Concentration, Effort and Sportsmanship. As coaches, the most rewarding part of each game day is seeing kids at the final whistle; the players’ first reaction is to go and shake the hands of their opponents and tell them “good game.”
The Mini Skills Program will
be back again this Spring! We take pride in working with 3-5 year olds to give them the best possible early childhood sports experience. The goal each session is for kids to leave the field feeling tired and enlightened, with a smile on their face!
The Soccer program has grown in the amount of adults and kids we serve, but we challenge ourselves to continue to improve the quality and value of the experience. We look forward to doing just that this Spring!
-Adam Hooi,Director of Soccer, HCI Social
Join us as we host legendary soccer players Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly & Tisha Venturini-Hoch for the second time! This is one of the best opportunities to play with and learn from the best. The weekend will focus on skill development and character building.

ADULT AIM TRAINING
MEET THE DIRECTORS
Bryan Lewis, AIM Asst. Director
In the past year, AIM has worked with 14 current or committed college athletes in Football, Basketball, Soccer, Swimming, Lacrosse and Baseball. Youth AIM Training is designed to enhance movement, fitness and performace. This program will establish proper lifting techniques to enhance strength. Along with strength training, coaches will incorporate bodyweight exercises, mobility/flexibility and endurance sessions to provide a fun, challenging and comprehensive workout for all!
Matt Herring, AIM Director
Bryan has spent the last 8 years working in the collegiate and private sectors as a performance coach. He works directly with Matt to develop all aspects of adult group classes, as well as design and implement high school team athletic development training. Bryan specializes in golf and endurance athletes, but is always up for the opportunity to positively impact an athlete that wants to get better. You will be able to spot Bryan running or biking around the trails of the Hill Country as he tries to keep up with his wife Megan, who, as a former All-American Heptathlete, is much faster than him. Bryan is certified through the NSCA-CSCS, TPI Level II (Titleist Performance Institute), CAFS, 3DMAPS, and USAW. He also has his Master’s Degree in Human Performance and an Undergraduate Degree in Applied Physiology & Kinesiology from the University of Florida.
Recovery is just as important as training to maximize performance. AIM is excited to offer the NormaTec Pulse Recovery System. NormaTec is designed to provide pulsing air compression to massage your legs, mobilize fluids and speed recovery. Available in 15 or 30min sessions, contact AIM for more information!
AIM Group Training is a Membership Upgrade that provides an opportunity for everyone to participate in exciting, structured athletic training from highly-qualified coaches.
Our Mission is to provide periodized, progressive training that is based in science, backed by data, and grounded in function.
Are you tired of working out without purpose or direction? AIM Group Classes are designed to provide planned training programs that address the components of fitness in a safe, effective and fun environment. Our certified strength coaches take the time to not only teach proper techniques, but also explain the rationale behind our sessions. We encourage everyone from beginners to advanced athletes who are looking to take their fitness to new levels to come try AIM. Stop working out and start training.
Matt spent 15 years as a college and professional strength coach before joining HCI to establish the AIM Training Department. Overseeing all aspects from personal training to athletic performance, Matt is proud to be a part of such a diverse and qualified staff. Using his experience as a national champion and NBA strength coach, Matt specializes in youth athletes and injury reconditioning. However, he enjoys working with anyone willing to laugh at his bad dad jokes. A rare Austin native, he enjoys being back home and having more time to spend outdoors and with his family. Matt is CSCS, MSCC, USAW and CES certified in addition to having a Master’s Degree in Exercise Sports Science and Nutrition from the University of Texas-Austin. Come see Matt and the rest of the staff to learn more about AIM. Bad jokes not included.

“I enjoy my ability to get in a workout that isn’t necessarily traditional weight lifting. You may feel like playing basketball or hitting the batting cages or playing pickleball with friends just to do something different, not many places can compare. Basically it’s as good as a gym gets, even the parking is accommodating. As long as I live in Austin, I will stay at Hill Country Indoor.
“-Susan Willis, Member Since June 2017
It’s pretty, the staff is awesome, and there are tons of sports for kids! We’re gym junkies and used to be athletes so we knew right away we’d join. We Love it here.

LTEF Annual Gala Hosted at the JW Marriottdowntown and featuring
live music from TracyByrd, this wil l be a night of
elegance and excitementas we come together to
drive excellence in Lake Travis. Why give to the Foundation?
We first met the Kauffman family before our doors were even open. Eager to become a part of the big building we wereconstructing, they found more than just a place to workout and shoot baskets under our roof. In addition to holding downa house of four boys, LT mom Katie has anchored herself into the community - in more ways than one.
“We took time to findthe right neighborhoodand then time to build ahouse. While we lived inan apartment with 3young sons, It’s where we met andmade good friends andfelt a part of acommunity here."
Katie became Executive Director of the Lake Travis Education Foundation (LTEF) &Director of Development & Corporate Relations for Lake Travis ISD in August. Sincejoining the Foundation, she's been focused on raising funding and building awarenessof the Foundation and its importance in our Lake Travis community.
HCI became our backyard.
The Kauffman's have made Lake Travis theirhome. Katie will continue to guide us by bringingneighbors together to invest in our children andeducation. Together we will create a positiveimpact on the future of our community.
The mission of the Lake Travis Education Foundation is to provide financial resources to improve and support anexemplary education for all students at LTISD. It surprised Katie, being new to Texas, that there would be a financialneed in the education system in a community like ours. However, 46% of our local property tax dollars never make it toour classrooms due to the state recapture or “Robin Hood” program. Thus, to ensure excellent educational opportunitiesfor our Lake Travis students, LTEF works to fill the gap with funding. The impact these raised funds have is trulycreating opportunities, resources and programs to students that teachers once only dreamed to provide in a publicsetting...Robotics, 3D printing, STEM Scopes, innovative reading and math manipulatives, chrome books, readilyaccessible technology for students and much more.
Katie has really found her passion in non-profits, leading efforts focused aroundchildren and funding opportunities and resources to help children excel. “There is something really powerful about a community coming together around a common vision,” explains Kauffman. “That is one thing that has reallystuck out to my husband, Brandon, and I since moving here. Our community isextremely passionate about our Lake Travis schools and driving for excellence.”Having three young sons coming up through the Lake Travis school systemherself, Katie has found real purpose in her work.
