The recently released Holden Volt long range electric car has created a great deal of excitement including ‘Wheels

Car of the Year’ nomination since its release at the beginning of November.This unique Holden has a five-star ANCAP safety rating, five-star Green Vehicle Guide rating and we can assure you there’s a five-star ownership experience to go with it.The Holden Volt is the first electric car of its type to go on sale in Australia. It offers a unique system of travelling the first 87 kilometres on electricity 100% of the time. For a longer journey its petrol powered generator kicks in to charge the battery, giving a drive range of approximately 650 kilometres.Fuel consumption at this point is in the range of a measly 1.5 litres/ 100 kilometres.If you travel within the 87 kilometre range you can simply recharge from a regular household wall outlet so there’s no need for the generator to do its work.According to surveys over 80% of Australians live in major capital cities commuting less than 80 kilometres in a single day. This means Volt drivers could achieve their weekly commute on electric charges only, yet still head interstate on the weekend, avoiding the range anxiety caused by traditional electric cars.

Volt’s cockpit design features a centre stack housing a seven-inch LCD colour touch screen which relays real-time information on energy use and power flow to the driver. It offers driver efficiency feedback based on driving style and climate settings and will even give tips on how to reduce energy usage.

With respect to safety it is the first Holden vehicle to include eight airbags, a forward collision alert and lane departure warning.The Holden Volt is offered in one single model at $63,940 drive away.Holden’s Capped Price Servicing offers a maximum price of $185 for the first four standard scheduled log book services for the first three years or 60,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.An eight year warranty on the battery is offered. This is transferable to other vehicle owners.

Holden’s heavy duty 4 X 4 Colorado series of SUV work vehicles has recently been boosted with the

Colorado 7 offering a full size seven seat interior.The 7 is available in two specifications – the entry level LT and top spec LTZ.Improved comfort level makes the Colorado 7 ideal as a family wagon or personnel carrier.The vehicles come with a 5 Star ANCAP safety rating that includes electronic stability control, dual front airbags and full length curtain airbags that extend to the third row of seating.

Both models are equipped with the 2.8litre Duramax diesel engine and 6 speed automatic transmission. The engine achieves 132kW of power and 470Nm of torque to return 9.4litres/ 100 kms producing 252 grams of Co2/ kilometre.The impressive off road performance is underpinned by a part time 4 wheel drive system with transfer case, high and low ratio gearing, shift on fly and limited slip differential. It also has descent control system.The second and third row seats can be folded down to accommodate a whopping 1830 litres of cargo space.Standard LT features include: Reversing camera, rear park assist, 16 inch alloy wheels, side steps, front fog lamps, aluminium roof rails. For Barina lovers, the world has suddenly become a whole lot better because there’s an ultimate Barina to

move up to.It’s the new Barina CDX, a luxury model featuring a new 6 speed auto transmission , electric power steering, 17 inch alloy wheels, reverse park sensors, tyre and suspension tune and the debut of Holden’s new MyLink infotainment system.The CDX will be available in both hatch and sedan versions with recommended retail

pricing of $18,990 and $20,990 driveway respectively.At $2,500 more than the equivalent CD model, the CDX with its high level specifications represents great value.The new Holden MyLink system offers a seven inch colour touch screen radio capable of music, videos, photos and contacts for hands free calling.
