Holcim Partners with NIIT Technologies to Enable Sales on-the-go Holcim with its enterprise mobility solution sought to bring a multiplier effect on overall productivity. The company had a pressing need of building a mobile application that can enable various sales related functionalities such as sales order creation; viewing of sales related reports like sales order summary report, sales order delivery report; checking of customer account summary for outstanding payments etc.. The application had to be compatible across multiple platforms (Java ME, iOS, Blackberry OS, Symbian) and various devices like Blackberry, Nokia, iPhone and iPad in order to give a wide range of choice to the end users. The desired mobile application solution had to integrate with SAP via a middleware server (an Enterprise Mobility Middleware Server - EMMS); establish mobile interface with SAP backend server and access SAP data. The mobile application had to talk to EMMS using HTTP protocol over mobile Internet. EMMS, in turn, would talk to SAP over enterprise LAN using SAP’s Business Application Programming Interface (BAPI)/Remote Function Call (RFC) programs and SAP Java Connector (JCO) connection. NIIT Technologies developed a mobile solution, mSALES (generic name mKonnect) for Holcim Indonesia. It is a mobile extension of

SAP’s "Sales and Distribution” module that enables clients to exercise a variety of functionalities using a GPRS enabled mobile phone.

The user can create sales orders, check customer account summary for outstanding payments and view sales related reports through

their mobile phones. At the backend, this mobile solution is integrated with SAP servers.

mSALES uses simple screens specially designed for mobile handsets.
