The Sapporo Campus trains students to become
elementary and junior high school teachers giving
them the teaching skills to manage education in such
classrooms.
Students on this course learn basic aspects of education such as the roles of teachers and school
organization making lessons and classroom management, children’s mental development and learning
processes. Students aim to become elementary school teachers with practical teaching skills and learn
about current issues schools are facing, for instance, bullying and truancy.
This course, composed of fields of mathematics and natural sciences, is to train students to be elementary
school teachers, junior high school teachers, and junior high school science teachers with expert
knowledge of math and science education.
21st century Japan requires children with abilities to improve daily living through making something new.
This is important in a country that lacks natural resources. In this course students are trained to be teachers
with the knowledge to nurture children with the capacity to create on new future.
Studying exclusively in the fields of “arts,” “music,” and “physical education,” students trained to establish a
career as teachers who see learning as a lifelong process for themselves and their pupils.
Intensive education is offered to students at this major to become high-quality school nurses. Through
lectures, experiments, and internships, the curriculum is designed to have students learn how to manage
health care, prevent disease and give appropriate support to resolve symptoms.
Children requiring special needs education are not extraordinary. There are many children in normal
classes who require educational support due to such symptoms as autism spectrum disorder, learning
disability, and attention deficit hyperactive disorder. These children can develop if adequate educational
support is given by the people around them. Students majoring in this course study methodologies for
teaching children in need of such support and how best to work with them.
This course is composed of three fields of education: Japanese, English, and social studies. The goal of
the students is to become highly professional elementary / junior high school teachers with extensive
knowledge and wide ranging views obtained through transversal research into languages and society.
Teacher Training
Students study subject education in depth to
become e lementary and junior h igh school
teachers with practical teaching skills.
This course sets the goal of training educators to be equipped with the skills to logically observe issues in
school education and the practical skills to resolve them. This course aims to develop teachers with clear
ethical views based on commonsense. It also aims to hone educational ideals based on a deep insight into
people and society.

methodology of solving problems and through learning research methods, the course nurtures the skills
necessary to unravel the mysteries of language.
This major aims to develop specialists in English education with a good balance of knowledge and practical
skills through thorough studying in four fields: English, English and American Literature, English
Communication, and English Education.
The class studies philosophy of modern mathematics, purpose of mathematics education, and teaching
methodology to nurture teachers with the skills to give good mathematics classes. Through practice,
students learn logical thinking and mathematical expressive power as well as practical subjects such as
researching teaching materials and establishing curricula.
Mathematics Education
The course trains teachers with a deep knowledge in each field of the natural sciences. The mission is to
educate teachers with an appetite for study and with abilities to motivate children to learn, and form
scientific concepts, as well as planning and implementing classes to improve learning.
Students study the basis of modern society, logically yet practically, from the sides of manufacturing and
daily life. The goal of the class is to nurture teachers with the abilities to encourage children to develop
creativity and holistic growth (think on your own, make things using your hands, and think with your

the rural areas around Eastern Hokkaido.
For example, we offer “Education Field Research”, in which students are able to acquire practical
teaching skills from the first year through weekly classroom visits to elementary and junior high
schools as well as various off-campus outdoor activities in the region.
In “Remote Area Education Experience”, students learn how to teach small classes, and in “Project
