62nd YEAR IN THE BOOKS: 2002 marked Hofstra’s62nd season of football. The Pride has recorded an all-time record of 371-221-11.

A WINNING TRADITION: With its 6-6 record in 2002,Hofstra teams have recorded a .500 record or better 44times in 62 seasons. The Pride has posted eight or morevictories nine times in the last 13 years. The Pride was43-16 (.729) from 1995 through 1999 and 81-29-2 duringthe decade of the 90s.

A REBUILDING YEAR IN 2002: The 2002 season wassupposed to be a rebuilding year for the Pride and, inmany ways, it was. With the loss of 19 seniors including16 starters from 2001, the 6-6 record in 2002 was nosmall feat. After a five-game losing skid, including anuncharacteristic for Hofstra teams three losses in thefourth quarter, the Pride rattled off four consecutivevictories to close out the 2002 season. In the process, the Hofstra defense laid the groundwork for what may beone of the toughest defenses in I-AA in 2003.
