The IT Department Family was recently joined by the follow-ing four (4) new lecturers: Dr. Kauthar Al-Khaifi, Dr. Abraham

Varghese, Shradha Dwivedi, and Shqran Shakir Abdulwahab. On the other hand, we have one (1) transferred staff Dr. Maryam Al-Awadi and one (1) rejoined staff Ms. Safiya Al-Sharji.

Send-off Party

A send-off party was dedicated to a Senior Staff Mr. Ahmed Qudah last August 30, 2016 in MPH. The event was highlighted by the cutting of the cake and awarding graced by Dr. Khalid Abdulaziz Ambusaidi, College Dean, and Assistant Deans Mr. Mohammed Tarawneh and Dr. Khalid Salim Abdullah Al-Abri.

As shown in the IT Department Achieve-ment Ratings for the past three (3) academ-ic years, the IT Department was able to maintain its outstanding position last AY2015-2016.

Focus-Group Discussions (FGDs) were participated in by various Committee Heads to closely discuss the Operational Plan. The FGDs followed the open invitation among staff to fill-in a common file in the Google Drive for their comments and feed-back.

Procedure for Withdrawing a Course (Source: Admission, Advising and Registra-tion Policy,p.10) “Students are authorized to add or drop a course at the start of the semester during the allocated time period for add and drop. According to Article 44 of the college ByLaws, students are allowed to drop 3 credit hours or only one course within one week from the date of announcing the midterm exam results. The Dropped course will appear as a ‘W’ in the student’s transcript”.

An E-Learning Awareness Session among staff was conducted last September 8, 2016 in N418 by Mr. Muhammad Nadeem Tariq of ETC.

Staff Induction for the new lecturers of the IT Department was held last September 29, 2016 in N232, which was facilitated by heads of key department committees and members of the IT Council.

Dr. Huda Al-Shuaily and co-author Dr. Karen Renaud presented a paper entitled “A Framework for SQL Learning: Linking Learn-ing Taxonomy, Cognitive Model and Cross Cutting Factors” at ICFEP 2016: 18th Interna-tional Conference on Future Education and Pedagogy held last September 21-22, 2016 in Dubai, UAE. The Program Committee of the conference awarded the presenter(s) with a ‘Certificate of Best Paper’.Dr. Amando P. Singun Jr., an IT Staff, was one of the 32 members of the International Scien-tific Committee of the ICFEP 2016: 18th Inter-national Conference on Future Education and Pedagogy held last September 21-22, 2016 in Dubai, UAE.

The following five (5) lecturers were sent to ITA last September 18, 2016 to discuss about Virtual Reality Course Projects and Training Opportunities: (1) Ms. Areej Ahmed, (2) Ms. Nomilyn Simon-Cayton, (3) Ms. Shaima Al-Amri, (4) Ms. Shaniba Ibrahim, and (5) Mr. SenthilKumar.

The HoD released the new set of members of the Department Committees last September 20, 2016. The selection process followed the open invitation among staff through an e-form.
