CIVIL ENGINEERING NEWSLETTER
SEPTEMBER 2017
HOD’S DESK AADHARA does not represent a Journey but a set of
Experiences. Each experience acts as a trigger that leads us to
reflect on the world around us as well as on ourselves. This
Newsletter comes as our first step in documenting our
experiences that we gather in our engagement with each
other and the outside world throughout the month of
September. With the launch of this issue we are embarking on
a fresh journey that would bring with itself exciting and fresh
learning experiences for the students as well as the Faculty.
~ Dr.D.MARUTHACHALAM
The Civil Engineering Department aims at
developing analytical and experimental skills in
students to apply in various fields of Civil
Engineering using National and International
codes. The department also provides an
opportunity for students in improving supervision,
communication and presentation skills, knowledge
of software like Auto CAD, STAAD PRO and
Rivet Architecture. The students have to undergo
Industrial Training and visit live projects to gain
practical knowledge and understanding of field
constraints. The Civil Department has well
qualified teaching faculties with industrial
experience who are enthusiastic in imparting the
quality teaching to the students. The emphasis is
laid on proper understanding of the fundamentals
of the subjects through animation, video clips and
case studies. It has well equipped laboratories,
computational facilities; modern class rooms and
provides a good environment for learning. Many
senior faculty members are also engaged in
research and consultancy projects which benefit
the students for active learning. The department
also has its own library housing a good number of
quality reference books for the benefit of staff and
students. There are many Student chapters,
Associations and clubs in the department to engage
the students in co-curricular activities. On the
whole, the Department ensures a favourable
learning environment for all.
