started, or are planning to move into, a career in private or public
sector business. The HND in Business is also recognised as being
equivalent to the first two years of a UK degree. On completion of

The HND in Computing and Systems Development is a specialist programme of study that
covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the computing and IT sectors. This
programme will provide you with a range of skills required in a technological and
management context. The course is delivered through lectures, seminars and tutorials.
Students will explore a wide range of subjects including programming, systems analysis,
project and systems management, networking and e-business strategy. Assessment
includes case studies, practical projects, essays, reports and presentations
To enable learners to apply the business skills needed to design an e-Commerce solution
for an organisation. Learners will be able to understand computer systems and apply
theoretical knowledge to practical application when building, configuring and maintaining
computer systems. This course provides opportunities for learners to develop skills in
decision making, problem solving and communication integrated with the skills and
knowledge developed in many of the other units within the programme to complete a
realistic project.
At the end of the course, learners should be able to acquire the knowledge and skills
needed to undertake a systems analysis investigation by following a recognised
methodology. They should also be able to evaluate existing websites, in the context of
cross-platforms, range of browsers, and design features. This course will consider the whole
process from identification of need, design, implementation, testing, maintenance and
review. Others include: procedural programming; object oriented programming; event
driven programming solutions; mathematics for software development; network operating
systems; e-commerce strategy information systems in organisations; knowledge-based
systems; quality systems in it; data structures and algorithms; networking infrastructure;
work-based experience.
The HND in Management and Leadership is designed to invest in your personal
and personnel management capabilities and provides students with a tool-kit
to ensure they are comfortable with effective decision making and other
managerial skills. This programme strongly focuses on leading and managing
people, including the management of change and project leadership. You will
be taught a broad range of topics from the development and operation of
markets for resources, goods and services to the design, control and
improvement of products and services.
At the end of the course, you should be fully equipped for a career in
management. You will also have the opportunity to develop a skill-set that will
prepare you to continue your study at BA (Hons) levels should you wish to
continue onto higher level academic qualifications and/or gain professional
qualifications while you study with us. Our suite of management courses will
provide you with resources specifically tailored to meet the requirements of
this sector. Upon satisfactory completion of all the course modules, you will
have the opportunity to gain professional as well as academic qualifications
which will place you in a strong position when beginning and furthering your
career.

One module in the HND award will also cover the Association for Project
Management (APM) Introductory certificate syllabus and it will be at the
discretion of the student as to whether they wish to pursue this additional

assessments for the professional qualification will be independent from those
undertaken for the academic award.

The HND Travel & Tourism Management is designed to develop the academic
knowledge and practical skills for those students who wish to enter into, or
advance their careers, in the travel and tourism sector. During the course, key
concepts and principles in travel, tourism and business are taught and assessed.
The HND Travel & Tourism Management will be taken over two years .The
academic year consists of two semesters. By this course, the learner should have
basic business skills with detailed practical studies related to both travel and
tourism. The course is unitised/credit based. This course is suitable for those with
Highers, who have completed the Higher syllabus or have successfully completed
a non-advanced College course. For those returning to education, life skills and
experience in the workplace may allow entry subject to availability .
The HND is suitable for a wide range of candidates including school leavers and
adult returners to education who wish to follow a career in travel and tourism,
candidates in employment who wish to enhance their career prospects and
candidates who wish to start their own business and require a broad grounding in
the industry.

The HND Hospitality Management will prepare you for
management within the fast growing, international and multi-
disciplined hospitality industry. From food and beverage
processes to marketing strategies, this course provides a well-
rounded understanding of the key areas that drive hospitality,
leisure and tourism forward.

The HND in Health & Social Care is aimed to prepare and equip students
with knowledge and skills in the practice and management of Health and
Social Care, leading to employment or higher education. This programme is
highly regarded, nationally and internationally, and considered to be
equivalent to the first and second year of a university degree.
This course was specifically designed to equip individuals with the
underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills for employment in
Health & Social Care, both in the UK and overseas. These qualifications meet
and exceed the National minimum standard of qualification set by the Care
Quality Commission for those practising in Health & Social Care in the UK.
The course is suitable for all those already working in the sector who
wishes to gain practical skills and a formal qualification in order to progress
to supervisor or junior management level roles.
Course content will include: Communicating in Health and Social Care;
Principles of Health & Social Care Practice; Health & Safety in Health &
Social Care; Personal & Professional Development in H≻ Working in
Partnership in H&SC. Participation in a variety of teaching and learning
methods which include interactive lectures, seminar presentations, group
