During the Late Bronze Age, Inter-regional trade in the Eastern Mediterranean

flourished. The archaeological evidence from the Uluburun shipwreck and the Gelidonya

shipwreck have the potential to shed light on the nature the contact between the

Mediterranean polities, as thousands of archaeological remains were found on these

shipwrecks. With this in mind, this paper first describes the archaeological evidence from

these shipwrecks. Then, by presenting the findings of recent studies on the exchange

network of copper, pottery, and glass that have been carried out using a variety of scientific

methods, the movement of those materials in the region is highlighted. Through this

attempt, the several different lines of the Eastern Mediterranean exchange network were

assessed and compared. Finally, the complicated picture of the inter-regional trade in this

region, in which commercial trade co-existed with palace sponsored trade, is discussed.
