Hardwired Motion Sensor Instructions

Part Number: HM-S-13A

Description: ceiling mount demand activator, wired motion sensor for on-demand recirculation systems

Parts: • Ceiling Mount Motion

Sensor• Connection Adapter• (6) Wire Nuts • Note: Wire not included,

use 3-wire wire in between the sensor and the connection adapter.

Wiring: The wires are color coded. The red connects to the red wire of the connection adapter, the green to the green, and the black to the

black. Since the location of the ceiling mounted sensor is variable, you will need to add wire (to the

desired length) to go in between the motion sensor and the connection

adapter.

Connecting to on-demand Recirculation Controller: The

connection adapter will click into place at the matching port of the

box. You will need to set the controller to the 12V setting in

order for it to work. (see reverse for setting voltage to 12V)

Mounting Motion Sensor:

Hold the base with one hand as shown to the right. Rotate the cover counterclockwise with the other hand, until it stops. Separate the cover from the base, and put it in a safe place, to avoid accidental

Damage.

Mount the base, complete with printed circuit board, in the selected location. Using the 2 mounting holes at the base, fasten

the unit firmly to the mounting surface to avoid possible vibrations.

Once all wiring and adjustments are completed, line up the three tabs on the cover with the three slots in the base. Fit the cover over

the base, and rotate the cover clockwise until it stops. open

Final Testing:

Apply power and allow five minutes for the unit to stabilize before testing.

Remove the cover to the motion sensor and set the shortest operation time – the TIME control fully clockwise.

Set the LED selector to ON by installing the jumper supplied with the unit on the upper and middle pins of the LED selector.

Replace the cover.

Walk-test the entire coverage area by walking across the coverage pattern segments while observing the LED. The LED will light up whenever you cross the detection segment. Keep still a few seconds after each activation, until the LED goes out and the unit re-stabilizes.

At the end of the test, you may disable the LED by setting the LED selector to OFF.

Setting Demand Recirculation System to 12V:

Open the Lid of the demand box. Locate the 3-pin jumper, which is labeled with a +5V on one side, and +12V on the other side. (see figures below and right).

Set the jumper across the two pins closest to where it says 12V to set it to 12V.
