HYPOTHESIS

The data analysis tool used for the study was Chi-Square Test

where the following relations were determined:

a) Relation between the quality awareness and employee

effectiveness.

• Calculated value is 5.4042

• Table value of Chi-square for degree of freedom 1 and level of significance

0.05 is 3.841

• Since the calculated value is greater than the table value, null hypothesis

Ho is rejected. Hence the alternative hypothesis H1 is accepted.

• That means there exists a significant relation between the quality awareness

of the employees and the employee effectiveness.

Page 14: HLL Project Presentation

HYPOTHESIS

b) Relation between the quality awareness and labor

turnover.

•The calculated value is 0.0395

•Table value of Chi-square for degree of freedom 1 and level of significance

0.05 is 3.841

•Since the calculated value is less than the table value, null hypothesis Ho is

accepted.

•That means there does not exist a significant relation between the quality

awareness and the labor turnover

Page 15: HLL Project Presentation

HYPOTHESIS

c) Relation between the team work and rejections/defects.

•The calculated value is 4.2323

•Table value of Chi-square for degree of freedom 1 and level of

significance 0.05 is 3.841

•Since the calculated value is greater than the table value, null hypothesis

Ho is rejected. Hence the alternative hypothesis H1 is accepted.

•That means there does exist a significant relation between the team work

and rejections/defects.

RECOMMENDATIONS & SUGGESTIONS

5’S’ practices must be practiced in form of plays, lectures, presentations oreven mimes for keeping the employees aware and more effective.

DMAIC approach can also be of great help to the organizationalemployees for its standard operating procedures (SOPs) and proceduresaround the quality subsystem, and create a simple checklist accordingly.

Build quality testing into your processes -- not at the end when it is moreexpensive to fix. Perform testing on an iterative basis.

Mechanism to resolve defective component problems as you encounterthem without waiting for the entire testing cycle to complete.

Implement automated testing if possible, because it executes withouthuman intervention and results in a pass or fail outcome that is easy tointerpret and act upon.

Page 20: HLL Project Presentation

Value the employee, customer, supplier andbusiness partners feedback and input regardingsolving product or service problems.

Use business strategies such as Six Sigma to furtherimprove quality and productivity and createprojects that define a problem, measure the currentprocess, gather relevant data and analyze the datato validate the cause-and-effect relations.

More importance should be given for introducingnew concepts as well as about the ongoing conceptsin the plant about Total Quality Management withnew trainees as well as employees during therecruitment as well as training sessions.

Page 21: HLL Project Presentation

Efforts should be taken by the management of HLL to

introduce periodic competitions among the employees

so as to keep up their competency charged and working

spirit high thus developing the overall Quality Culture

in the organization.

Timely awareness training should be given to the

employees of the plant regarding the benefit of a sound

Quality Management System in an organization and

incentives should be encouraged.

Page 22: HLL Project Presentation

Based on the Unit/ Department/ Section awareness onimparting quality management systems should beprovided to all the workers of the organizationrespectively.

For improving the process control in the plant, theimplementation of the 7 Quality Control tools would berecommended in all the areas of the plant.

There should be frequent conduction of benchmarkingstudies with respect to the corresponding businesspractices especially with the best companies to improvethe performance of the plant as well as to boost theTotal Quality Management culture.
