•To understand the basic concepts of History of Art and Design which are used in the appreciation of art and art criticism.•To apply the Semiotic Concepts and Methodology of Art in the appreciation of art from the Pre-historic era until present day contemporary art.

•Will understand and apply the six characteristic of semiotic concepts namely: addressor, addressee, message, codes, medium and context in in living up to some works of the great painters of the world.

•Will understand and appreciate the elements and principles of art and design in artworks

•Will reviewing and adjusting the development of indigenous art and the art of Malaysian Modern Art, Islamic Art and the art of pre-history.
