The buildings of many Britain's leading museums have a history of more than one hundred years. And the architecture of the museums and the exhibitions within them often complement each other, which enhance the museum experience of the audience.

Job design and job description for museum educators.

The organizational structures of the museums, the division of labour inside them, and the roles of educators.

How to design educational programmes for different groups.

The audience is usually divided into groups of school students, families, adults, and the elderly. A museum needs to provide specific educational programmes, from school study days to teacher training sessions for them. The practices in British Museum offer some good examples for designing such programmes.

The experiences of the UK in heritage preservation

The management of Hadrian’s Wall is a successful example of combining the protection of the heritage and environment, and the support of local economic development.

The staff at British Museum and Discovery Museum gave introduction to their means of conducting pre-work training for volunteers. It helped me to succeed in applying for a research project in our museum this year.

What measures should take in volunteer management?

How to develop a museum’s membership?

Every museum in Britain attaches importance to the development of membership. Their unique experiences have offered many ready-to-use models for our museum.

For example ——

With the Great North Museum: Hancock, if people join “Be Part of it” programme, they will have the unique opportunity to have their names or the names of someone they love permanently put on a donor wall in the new museum.

The direct benefits for my workThe direct benefits for my work

The training programme has helped me improve my professional ability and will facilitate my work in the future. The books, brochures, reference materials and documents I brought back to China are valuable resources for me to use in learning and research. BTW, the training programme also offered £100 for each participant to purchase books, encouraging us to carry out further. Realising the importance and benefit of educational programmes, I've increased the 2011 budget for developing and reproducing promotional materials.

Our museum —— The National Museum of China (NMC) is now under renovation and expansion. And when it reopen in Spring 2011, it will become an exciting world-class visitor attraction, with lots of differences made.

The educational programs will be enhanced and the contents of educational activities will be enriched in NMC. My experiences of visiting workshops and education centers will enable me to design similar workshops, taking consideration of their functions, facilities and decorations, etc.
