Someone you should know…. Hello Friends and Family, I just wanted to have the chance to update you on my year serving with NET Ministries as it comes to a close. I am writing to you from Amarillo, Texas. And at this point in our year, my team and I have put on 117 retreats and ministered to over 5,000 youth across the United States. Life on the road has been challenging, yet eternally rewarding. Every day is a new opportunity to meet Jesus in the people He has surrounded me with, whether it be the youth on re-treat, the host family I’m staying with, or my team-mates. These past three months, we have been travel-ing all across the states of Texas and Oklahoma. This was quite a transition from our Fall months, which were spent on the East Coast. A lot of the teens we have encountered here, having been raised in Catholic homes, know that a personal relationship with God is something that they desire but are unsure of how to attain it. The experience of going on a NET retreat gave many of them the opportunity to learn more about Christ’s love for them and respond to that love by committing to pursue a prayer life.
It has truly been a gift to share my personal testimony of Faith with these young men and women and to see the fire within them to follow Jesus more closely. There is a lot of hope amongst America’s young people, and being able to witness that and be a part of their Faith journey has been nothing short of life changing.
Thank you for all of your support of me and this ministry over the past part! Please, know of my prayers for you and your family. May the peace of the Risen Christ be with you during the upcoming Easter season! In Christ, Tony Wall
Please keep Fr. Koys and a number of pastors in your prayers as they will be gathering with Cardinal Cupich at Mundelein seminary, Tuesday-Thursday, May 21-23 to further discuss the parish and priest allocation situation through the “Renew My Church” initiative. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Be sure to check out our ALL NEW St. James web-site…same address as before, but way “cooler”. Be sure to look at “Formation” > “From the desk of Fr. Koys” for insights to wrinkle your brain.

Fourth Sunday of Easter Page Three
LEFT-WING NUT ATTACKS BARR’S CATHOLICISM
Catholic League president Bill Donohue com-ments on a recent attack on the Catholicism of U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr:
Over the weekend, left-wing nuts picked up on a screed by Frank Cocozzelli in the Daily Kos, home to assorted crackpots. In a piece that was deeply conspiratorial, he tries desperately to con-vince the reader that U.S. Attorney General Bill Barr is a Catholic extremist out to destroy de-mocracy.
Cocozzelli says he was “dismayed with in watch-ing Attorney General William Barr’s performance two days ago before the House Judicial Commit-tee [sic].” Instead of crafting a diligent response, he seeks to portray Barr as having “links” to the “highly secretive, ultra-conservative Catholic group Opus Dei.”
He says the organization “is known for recruiting very influential members, especially those simpa-tico with culturally conservative causes. To de-scribe its many wealthy and powerful leaders as economic royalists would be an understate-ment.” (His emphasis.)
Continuing with this conspiratorial tone, Co-cozzelli says that Opus Dei members “are not ashamed of the organization’s wealth, but are actually conspicuous about it as evidenced by its new seventeen-story 243 Lexington Avenue, New York, New York headquarters.” That alone should be enough to bring in a SWAT team.
What does this have to do with Barr? Is he a member of Opus Dei? If so, who cares, aside from the kooks who write for the Daily Kos? Cocozzelli says Barr “may be a ‘Supernumerary’ (married member) or simply a ‘cooperator (sympathetic non-member).'” In other
words, he doesn’t know. So much for the “link” to Opus Dei.
What is really eating away at Cocozzelli is Barr’s politics. Barr is not a fan of the public schools. Moreover, “in a 1992 address to Bill Donohue’s Catholic League, he called for the imposition of ‘God’s law’ in America. In that same address he went after contemporary supporters of the sepa-ration of church and state (‘The secularists of to-day are clearly fanatics’).”
In point of fact, in 1992 I was a professor in Pitts-burgh, so Cocozzelli’s attempt to “link” Barr to me is another failed exercise.
This doesn’t stop Cocozzelli from concluding that Barr’s views prove that “This is precisely why the Attorney General’s Opus Dei links matter.” Reali-ty check: No links were demonstrated. Even if they did, it is a non-starter.
Cocozzelli concludes that Barr is “willing to de-stroy the norms of both justice and American de-mocracy.” Yeah, he did a great job of proving just that.
Time for this guy to check himself into the near-est asylum.
We need to add additional 11:30 Ushers & Cart Drivers for 5:00 PM 10 & 11:30 Masses.
