Pooled Positions

• For all Pooled Positions the number is determined by the type of position.– Starts with a “9”– Second number indicates campus

• Used to hire Temporary, Supplemental Pay, Affiliated, Work-Study & Graduate Assistant Positions

• Applies to Faculty, Exempt and Non-Exempt Staff

• Employment term is not to exceed 1 year

• Eligibility for benefits limited to ERB, FICA, Workers’ Compensation, and Unemployment

• Does not require advertising (if advertised must specify temporary nature of position)

Temporary (cont)• Must meet minimum qualifications of position

• Faculty - non-tenure track faculty (main campus) averaging less than .50 FTE may be eligible for renewals. If averaging .50 FTE or greater, may only be hired for 4 consecutive academic semesters. FTE for branch campuses is .625.

• Exempt/Non-Exempt Staff-up to one year at .50 FTE or greater. If FTE is less than .50, appointment is eligible for renewal.

EmergencyPages 9-10

• Applies to Faculty and Exempt Staff

• Employment term is not to exceed 1 year

• Must meet minimum requirements of the position

• Must be a strong element of urgency

• E-hire comments must explain urgent need and steps to post position within specified timeline

• Eligible for full benefits

• Position must be advertised within the 1 year period

• Use single position number

Supplemental PayPages 11 - 16

• Paid to faculty and staff acting in the capacity of a professional/faculty employee

• Grant or contract funding source

• Uses pooled position number specific to supplemental pay

• Rate of pay is at regular rate

• FTE should not exceed 50%

Graduate Assistantspages 17-19

• Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, Laboratory Assistants and Administrative Assistants

• Maximum 20 hours per week

• Hired through Ehire system

• Eligible for health insurance

Student Employees (Regular & Workstudy)

• Maximum of 20 hours per week• Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0

(undergrad) or 3.0 (grad)• Student Job Classifications:

• Student Aide

• Student Assistant

• Student Graduate Special

• Eligible for Student Health Insurance and Worker’s Comp; no other benefits

• Award divided by weeks = avg earnings/week
