All hiring takes place only at our corporate office. All applicants must apply in person at the corporate office or with a project manager at a site with a job office set up. Job site employees and managers are not permitted to accept applications for employment. 2. We hire applicants based on merit. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, religion, marital status, national origin, disability, union affiliation, sex, or any other protected status. 3. We accept job applications only when jobs are available, and we intend to fill the position. Applications are retained in an active file for consideration for one year. 4. We do not accept group applications and require all applicants to fill out the application at our office and to be interviewed by our hiring supervisor. 5. Any applicant who falsifies or omits information is disqualified from being hired. If the applicant has been hired before the falsification or omission is discovered, the employee is subject to termination. 6. Applicants may be required to appear for work with those tools listed by the company as necessary for their work with the company. 7. Hiring decisions are based on a variety of factors, including: skills and ability to perform the job, prior satisfactory employment with us or recommendations by our supervisory, employment references as to capabilities, character, willingness to work, dedication, as well as willingness to accept the offered salary and conditions of employment. 8. All offers of employment are contingent upon the candidate successfully passing a pre-employment physical examination, which includes drug screening. The company schedules this examination with a specific doctor, at no cost to the candidate. 9. You are hereby given notice that upon becoming employed that the initial orientation and training period is paid at a flat $15.00 per hour. 10. You are hereby given notice that if any employee of American Steel is involved in an on the job accident resulting in personal injury or property damage that the employee, as a condition of employment at American Steel, may be tested for drug or alcohol use based on reasonable suspicion guidelines. 11. You are hereby given notice that the use of alcohol or drugs off duty and off company premises prior to returning to work is not acceptable because it can affect on-the-job performance and public/government confidence in the company’s ability to meets its responsibility. These hiring policies are in place to insure us of the highest quality workforce available. Only through quality employees can we be assured of maintaining a competitive edge in the marketplace thus ensuring continued employment for our workers.
