Introduction

Home is a place in which an individual or a family can rest and be able to store personal

property. This is a place where we feel at ease and feel comfortable. When our stomach is empty

nerves cells transmit impulses to the brain that says ³I need to eat´ then the response will be to

find foods in the refrigerator, where this is usually reach out to our kitchen. When we get tired

we go to our rooms and have a rest.

However, what if where outside, like out of the country for a business trip and we miss

the cosines of our house, the comfort of the sofas and bed? Then, Hotel will be the answer.

In the bible, there where already history of renting rooms, traded by foods or animals just

to have a rest and be ready for the upcoming day. Now our generations evolve too, to a brighter

and astonishing as it is right now.

Hotel is defined as an establishment that provides lodging and usually meals and other

services for travelers and other paying guests. The sofa, the bed and even the people will treat

you a king. It¶s like ³bringing the home to you,´ from all over places, where you¶ll be in.

Hotels are run by professional people whose main goal is to provide comfort and a

relaxing day for those who will stay whether it is for long or for short period of time. They are

the people who will maintain the integrity of the hotel and the customer¶s satisfaction.

And one position is now open for hiring. Supervising the subordinates and leading the

lower staff to enhance their quality of services. The open position is supervisor where task and

roles of it is defined on the succeeding pages.

SUPERVISOR

Supervisor is the one who monitors and regulates employees in their performance of

assigned or delegated task. Supervisors are usually authorized to recommend and/or effect hiring,

disciplining, promoting, pushing, and other associated activities regarding the employees in their departments.

The appointed supervisor is very important to the trainee and his role consists mainly of

guidance, observation and assessment. This is not always easy, especially when the trainee's

working and learning style is different to your own.

The tasks of the supervisor are the following:

y  Prepare a placement program, indicating the department offering the placement, the type

of activities, vocational and language skills required, workplace;

y  Prepare an induction program;

y  Guide the trainee's learning process;

y  Assess and evaluate the employee¶s learning process;

y  Documentation of the placement Euro pass or another certificate;

It is very important that the supervisor takes into account the language barrier and thetrainee's wish and ability to learn the language.

ASSESSMENT CR ITER IA

To fairly judge the quality of a new hire employee, it¶s important to define expectations

prior to recruiting and then compare these expectations to actual performance. The following list

provides a starting point for developing the criteria for new hire employee:

y  Goals

y  System compatibility

y  Capacity

y  Motivation

y  K nowledge and skills

y  Performance

y  Experience

y  Customer compatibility

y  Work group compatibility

y  Organization compatibility

y  Change/learning posture

y  A passion to succeed

y  Desire to compete

y  A learning attitude

In order to get a newly hired employee, sets of standards should be implemented in order

to be qualified in the position. It is done to see if the applicant is suitable for the position or not.

They should meet all the qualities the employer is looking for. Because some instances that they

just hire applicant easily without assessing, then later on will found out that the applicant can¶t

do the job. Or less will just make mistakes in the future job work.

And lastly, in this way guidelines also are beneficiary to the company for a long run.

Some applicants just apply for just a short period of time, to get experience what they need to

have, then quit.

INTERVIEW PLAN

Planning the interview is the main highlights in getting the right person for the position.

This is the basis of their knowledge and skill as they will be interviewed by the speaker. Aside

from the questions being asked, there will be an interview sheet that will be given to them in

order to have a preliminary screening. The second screening maybe gathered thru phone or by

person to assess the level of confidence, their weaknesses and their strongest point.

The company will advertise the said open position, for 1 position available; the company

will get 50-70 resume including the walking applicant. Second step will be screening the entire

resume and spotting the best candidates. After short listing the best candidates it will now be

scheduled the best candidates who were then invited to interview. This process alone illustrates

the fuzzy nature of the decision-making process.

The following questions are the set of question in pre interview to the applicant:

INTERVIEW SHEET

 Name of Candidate: _______________________________  Date:______________________

1. Tell us about your current job and its responsibilities.

2. What aspects of your current job do you like the most? The least?

3. What particular aspects of the job you¶re applying for attracted your interest?

4. Tell us about your experiences and background in data entry, handling employee, and

managing staff.

5. Tell us about your communication skills.

6. How do you plan to organize your work?

7. Would you be able to work additional hours during high demand times?

8. How soon could you start if hired?

9. Do you have any questions of us?

10. Of all the things discussed today, what do you consider the most important as we give

further consideration to your candidacy?

During interview the employer rank the applicant according to the level of confidence,

the knowledge related direct to the said position and the experience that they have.

Usually after interview the employer will call the newly hired applicant 2- 3 days or on

the spot. However the non hired applicant¶s resume will be kept for future references, but some

companies do sending letters/giving letters after the first interview, that says:

³  I¶m sorry to tell you that your resume is not shortlisted, but your resume will be kept for

future references. Thank you for coming.´

Advertising strategy

Since employee turnover is inevitable in the business world, you must know how to

advertise a job opening to effectively fill any gaps in your workforce. The following are some

steps to do some advertisement.

1.  People around the world are reading materials such as newspaper; this is one good

material to post at your new vacancy in the company.

2.  Post job vacancies using job hunting sites. These sites will help companies to find their

right applicants.

3.  Thru job fair millions of job seeker will attend on this event

4.  Posters and fliers also are beneficial to the searcher. They will see the ads in the billboard

or in the street.

In this strategy the only thing to consider is the right information of the company details.

Either you post it anywhere but if the details aren¶t clear the job seeker will doubt about the

vacancy and will never be entertained.
