Hardware, Software and Features

HardwareModular, stackable hardware for seam-less expansion With its modularity, the availability of sca-lable access points plus powerful networ-king support, HiPath 4000 V2.0 offers an ideal solution for an entire enterprise net-work - regardless of size and location re-quirements - and a perfect solution for seamless expansion. The heart of HiPath 4000 V2.0 is the HiPath 4000 communication server. This server is standard-based and consequently supports the direct integration of appropriate stan-dard server applications in the system. The new AP 3700 enables complete 19-inch sys-tem configurations to be created and imple-mented directly in the IT infrastructure. The HiPath 4000 communication server can be implemented and expanded in all confi-gurations, from the smallest to the largest. It supports up to 15 directly connected ac-cess points plus 83 IP-distributed access points. A maximum of 12,000 digital or IP subscribers can be supported in these con-figurations. Configurations with up to 100,000 users can thus be implemented wi-thout difficulty in networked systems. In addition, a duplex option is available for common control and redundant power sup-ply to increase the availability of the system. The modular structure of HiPath 4000 enab-les cost-effective duplex solutions to be rea-lized in small and mid-sized configurations as well.

Trunk/networking features: Trunk / Networking allows the HiPath 4000 to be connected to or operated via the pu-blic network, and permits the HiPath 4000 to be connected with any communication system via private networks.Standard protocols and open interfaces are the key to evolving voice-centric switched networks to converged infrastructures. Hi-Path 4000 makes it possible to set up corpo-rate networks in one location, throughout Europe or worldwide by linking several sys-tems via dial-up and dedicated connections. Networking can be done via ISDN, ATM or IP - always with the full feature range of Cor-Net NQ. In selected countries, DPNSS1 is also available with the CorNet NQ-DPNSS1-Gateway.CorNet NQ is Siemens' standards-based sig-naling protocol for private network soluti-ons. CorNet NQ is aligned with the international QSIG private network protocol for all features that are common between the two protocols.CorNet NQ transmits Hi-Path 4000 features and central services th-roughout the entire infrastructure.

The most significant advantages of homo-geneous networking include the following:● Central administration with HiPath 4000

Manager● Use of central services (e. g. HiPath

Xpressions, central attendant services)● Enhanced voice features such as call

pick-up group, call park, directed call pick-up, call forwarding, callback on busy and callback no answer

● Charge-optimized use of the corporate network through least cost routing (LCR)– LCR ensures that the most economical

route is selected. Calls are kept within the HiPath 4000 network for as long as economically viable. On transfer to the dial-up network, the most favo-rable network provider is selected (break-in and break-out)

– Time-based routing to different carri-ers

– Central administration of all LCR data with HiPath 4000 Manager, local and network-wide administration of all outgoing, incoming and internal calls

● Use of integrated voice compression for digital dedicated lines

Call Detail Recording EnhancedCall Detail Recording Enhanced records ad-ditional detail for all call phases, durations and intervals for outgoing, incoming, inter-nal and call routing for all users including attendant console operators, pick-up groups and hunt groups. It also enables net-work-wide correlation of records and call paths.HG 3500 is a family of integrated IP gate-ways for seamless migration to an IP infra-structure. In addition to the range of functions offered by traditional platforms, this family can process voice and data con-nections over a single backbone, thereby re-ducing costs.Due to fact that software licenses are inde-pendent of the infrastructure used (analog, digital or IP), a major part of the investment is protected when moving forward in the di-rection of IP.

High Performance Gate-ways of the HG 3500 Family

HG 3530HiPath Feature Access HG 3530 provides HiPath Feature Access (HFA) for IP clients. The following clients are supported:● optiPoint 410● optiPoint 420● optiPoint 600● optiClient 130 V5.0HG 3530 provides a 10/100 BaseT IP net-work interface, supports overbooking of up to 240 IP clients and is available in two con-figuration variants (60 or 120 simultaneous connections).

HG 3550HG 4000 IP Trunking for Hi-Path 4000 HiPath HG 3550 provides IP trunking for Hi-Path 4000. As an integrated gateway it en-ables two or more HiPath 4000 systems to be networked cost-effectively over IP while retaining the full set of CorNet NQ features. The straightforward scalability of the HG 3550 IP trunking solution (up to 90 chan-nels per HG3550) means that this solution can be customized in line with individual corporate requirements and locations.HiPath HG 3550 drastically reduces network operating costs. A circuit-based dedicated private network may be replaced with an IP based network so that voice traffic is con-verged with data traffic over the IP network. Using G.729A and B voice compression re-duces the required bandwidth. Fax mes-sages can be transmitted with T.38 (Realtime Fax) or G.711 (Transparent Fax). Like HG 3530, HiPath HG 3550 does not re-quire an external gatekeeper because there is already a gatekeeper (Large Enterprise Gatekeeper or LEGK) integrated in the Hi-Path 4000 V2.0 system. For more information on IP trunking for Hi-Path 4000 refer to the relevant Datasheet.

Distributed Architecture

HG 3570/HG 3575 IP Dis-tributed ArchitectureHG 3570 and HG 3575 both support IP Dis-tributed Architecture.HiPath 4000 Distributed Architecture enab-les a large campus or even a multi-site con-figuration to be covered with a single HiPath 4000 system. IP Distributed Architec-ture refers basically to the facility for distri-buting access points ("shelves") over other locations and linking them via an IP infra-structure.

IP Distributed ArchitectureHiPath 4000 enables access points to be dis-tributed over an IP network. Stations connected to access points are tre-ated as if they were directly connected to the HiPath 4000.

Scalable CapacityHiPath 4000 supports up to 83 additional IP-distributed access points. This permits up to 12,000 digital or IP subscribers per sys-tem. Configurations of up to 100,000 sub-scribers are possible in networked systems.

Payload SwitchingIn HiPath 4000, call switching is not restric-ted to the central switching unit.● Connections between IP end points (IP

clients or IP gateways) are switched di-rectly in the IP network. Voice data can be switched here without an audible de-lay. Consequently, the bandwidth of the available IP network can be optimally exploited.

● TDM-based calls (analog or digital) within an IP-based access point are swit-ched with no delay in a local TDM-based matrix on HG 3575, offering a switching capacity of 256 channels.

Access Point Emergency ConceptThis concept involves survivability for IP-based access points. An AP 3700 IP can be equipped with an optional control unit, known as a "survivability unit". If the host system is not available or an IP connection cannot be set up to this system, the surviva-bility unit can take over control of its own access point and other access points that do not have their own control unit. The IP infra-structure between the access points must be intact for this to happen. However, it is also possible to set up a survivability unit for all (up to 83) AP 3700 IPs connected to a Hi-Path 4000 V2.0 system. This way, you achieve optimum security for all access points connected to the system.

Signaling and Payload SurvivabilityThe optional signaling and payload surviva-bility function guarantees the highest level of availability for a HiPath 4000 system with IP-based access points. The PSTN can be used as a backup network for both the sig-naling and payload path if the IP network fails or does not provide the quality required for voice. Payload Survivability uses standard PSTN trunk modules to access the PSTN. The Pay-load Survivability Path can also be selected automatically if all B channels in the IP net-work are in use.

HiPath ProCenterHiPath ProCenter is an essential component of the HiPath 4000 applications and provi-des optimum satisfaction for an extensive range of contact center requirements.Apart from the number of agents, the inte-gration of existing workflows and corporate processes plays a decisive role. Here, the benefits of an application are pro-portionate to the cost savings or features available. Normally, the combination of these two factors are the reasons for using HiPath ProCenter. The integration of e-mail and Web contacts paves the way to new communication opti-ons for the user. Skill-based routing is used to route calls to the most suitable agent. This allows customer calls to be processed in a much more targeted and efficient man-ner. At the same time, staff motivation is in-creased because the individual agents are given greater opportunities to use their spe-cific skills.CRM solutions let companies offer their cus-tomers e-commerce services that were not available with the traditional technology. Additional services are a good way for users to increase their business volumes.Another advantage is the integration of all multimedia contact center features in exis-ting corporate processes. Agents can pro-cess online operations more quickly by connecting to CRM modules (for example, SAP R/3, Siebel, Remedy).
