What happens when American Hip Hop fuses with the vibrant nightlife of Granada, Spain? You get an international vibe, a celebration of Hip Hop, dance, theatre and street poetry reborn in Spain’s premier city for culture and art. Under the guidance of award-winning journalism and theatre faculty from Winston-Salem State University and North Carolina Central University students will have a dual opportunity this summer to perform Hip Hop while studying and producing content for multimedia communications. CHOOSE A SPECIALTY TRACK Your study tour will balance intensive multimedia practice in a specialty track of your choice (e.g., print, photography and publication design, video and theatre) with free time to research, perform, and savor this magnet of flamenco music and culture. SURVIVAL SPANISH AND STUDENT HOUSING

Our host institution in Granada is the state-of-the-art Marketing & Communications Institute of Granada, ESCO (Escuela Superior de Comunicaćion y Marketing).

The four weeks of instruction will include 16 hours of “survival Spanish”: Learn how to order food and wine in a restaurant, make purchases, get travel directions, and use Spanish in personal introductions for conversations and interviews. The rest of the day you will take Hip Hop, Multimedia and Theater courses.

Students will stay in student residence halls that provide three meals per day and laundry services. You will be within easy walking distance of class locations and all of the amazing shopping and historic districts that Granada has to o�er!

THE HIP HOP PROGRAM INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING COURSEWORK ACTIVITIES:

Research, interviewing and writing in an international setting

Morning classes and afternoon �eld work to produce multimedia content for a dedicated Hip Hop website

Practice skills in photography, graphics, or feature writing for a print and web magazine

Explore the Hip Hop culture in Spain and present a Hip Hop theatrical production

Participation in daily Spanish language classes and culture

Exceptional mentoring and time to specialize in visual media tracks for both print and digital formats
