The original text of this paper had a table- 1 which was reproduced in the paper in absence of more

genuine and detailed statistics on communal riots in Gujarat. This table ( on p.18) has been removed

from the file uploaded here. Table-2 which is a more representative of the communal riots scenario in

Gujarat has been retained.
